EMR

In Reply to: EMR? sm - Need some knowledge

I work as an employee at a clinic doing EMR.  The doctors dictate and I type.  I started doing it to get out of the house at first 6-10 hours per week, along with my other 3 clinics doing tapes in my MTSO.  But no kids, no husband decided to do  it at a clinic I had done many  years ago.  The docs love me doing it as they can see more patients, make more money.  So I am up to over 20 hours per week and they hired someone for an additional 5 to 10 hours that I cannot cover.  I do get paid hourly with benefits but it seems to take longer typing in the EMR's even though I have a lot of templates and Quick Additions they call them.  A lot of mouse clicking to add in a one of their standards.   But since it is hourly it is okay.  I also can type in word and then copy and transfer over if I take the tapes home.   Like I said, it is a way of the future and since I now have this experience I have been contacted by 2 other clinics asking if I can  provide service to them.  You can E-mail me with questions about certaiin programs if you want.   But for a 30 minute tape it does take me up to 2 hours on the EMR where as if I do it in word it takes me at the most 60 to 75 minutes.    Patti
