I know how you feel! I believe that the clinic that I am an IC for is getting ready to make changes to the EMR too. I don't know for sure if this will mean the end of my job...not surprised if it is since three years ago they shipped the work over to India only to bring it back three months later due to poor quality. A lot of the EMR software has transcription features in it where it says the doc will dictate into a device like a PDA or other dictation gadget and then it can be sent directly over to the medical Transcriptionist for typing. I'm hoping that my clinic will still use medical transcriptionists but this whole situation makes me nervous since my job was pulled out from under me when it was sent to India now the EMR just might do the same thing.I think the EMR will be more successful than sending the work to India. I think it just might be time to make a career change and get out of here before they take my job away again without warning. Medical transcription these days just is not a secure profession anymore. You have a job one day and the next day it is gone. I can't live like that. I think this is a sign for me to move on to a more secure/reliable career, if one even exists!!
