Me too

Happened to me too.  I was the supervisor of an in-house transcription department for 15 years.  EMR came on-board.  We were told not to worry, we would always have a job.  Yeah right!  We had a mandatory meeting in the middle of July and were terminated as of 08/31/07, due to it being more "cost efficient" for the agency.  Lovely!  Now I am collecting Unemployment and looking for a job.  I agree with the poster who stated that they think they are saving a buck, when in reality wait until the ball hits the floor, when they are in court, etc.  However, there was nothing I could do about it.  It really makes me sad, as I loved my job dearly.
