ESL

The USA has no official language. Just because the majority of Americans speak English as a first language that does not mean everybody has to just to make things easier for you, me or anyone. I don't know why people think MDs should HAVE to speak English. If a law is passed making English the official language, that would be a different story. Until then, anyone can speak any language they want. This is America.

If you don't want to transcribe ESL, find a different job. I have a job where there are only around 5 doctors out of 200 that are ESL.

Even people trying to become naturalized citizens are not always required to be interviewed in English. There are stipulations to that requirement where they can take the test in their native language. In my state, the driver's license test is offered in 25 languages.

Sure these doctors may be difficult to understand, but at least they can speak more than one language. I can't.
