Middle-Eastern females (speak way too quietly), Russian females, blacks

European prices.
Taxes are the main reason gas prices are so high in Europe. The taxes are used to provide things like outstanding public transportation and universal health care. I'd be glad to pay $6 a gallon if health care was covered and I could ride excellent public transportation anyplace I needed to go. That's a bargain!
russian dictators do the same

Asian and Russian for me. nm

I LOVE my Russian docs
One of my accounts has two. I get paid a 15-percent premium to transcribe their dictation because I'm the only one who can understand them. 'Course, I speak and understand Russian, so I guess that helps ;-)
I learned to spell the European way, too.
cheque, flavour, et cetera I guess JanaRae can spell it any way she wants to, eh? It's not like you're paying her to do it your way, right? Are you her boss? Then leave her alone.
The guy was Russian, Ms. PC. Get off the soapbox and lighten up.
Believe me, the people you so condescendingly "defend" wouldn't defend you if you were getting beaten and robbed before their eyes, as a matter of fact, it would be them doing it.

Keep your "holier than thou" to yourself, as well as your misplaced pity/guilt/anti-Caucasian sentiment.
No, not for me! I love European accents
and do well with them. However, the middle eastern accents throw me. There's something about the tone or pitch that I simply can't hear. Maybe I have a deaf spot or something. It's caused problems at jobs because MT employers think I'm "refusing" to do those work types when it's actually a hearing problem. Some of the Hispanics are the same way. I can do Asian, French, German, Scandinavian, east coast, American Indian, southern, British, whatever, just not east Indian/Arabic accents.
There is a European part of Turkay and then
there is also an Asian part of Turkey. Istanbul is the bridge between the 2 parts.

Do you know that 99% of the Turkish population is Muslim?
Therefore the EU members are not do eager to accept Turkey into the European Union.
The Asian part of Turkey I regard as oriental.

Polish up those resumes
I've been job hunting for a long time time searching for the right job. This week I got three job offers, plus my phone and emails are going on overload. Let the hiring begin.

Now's the time fellow MTs, everyone seems to be hiring!!
all this talk about canadian/european healthcare...

My family and I may be moving to Poland temporarily, maybe 3 years or so (job opportunity for hubby).  I only have one kidney and have been fine all my life until recently, now doctor says I have a stricture in the urethra and wants to do surgery.  Apparently it's not a minor surgery, has a 2-week recovery period to just feel normal, and needs at least 6-month followups to doctor for monitoring to make sure there isn't scar buildup tissue, etc., oh and a stent will need to be removed 4 weeks after the surgery (in-office procedure).  I am going to have the surgery here but in the event we do move to Poland it will be sometime later this year, which means I'd be following up over there.  What are your thoughts on this?

What if you don't have clear nail polish? Is there something else you can use?

I don't use nail polish at all and reallly don't want to buy it for just this reason. I also don't want to keep buying keyboards. I had an ergonomic one given to me that works just great, but can't get used to it.

I wore the letters off my keyboard in less than a year, even the raised "notch" on the J and F keys so you can place your fingers correctly. I don't really need them, but sometimes, I get out of position then havea a hard time finding the right keys, especially if I'm in a hurry. I only have QWYPZ /? left on mine. Thanks.

Clear nail polish
I periodically cover the keys with clear nail polish and I've had the same keyboard for almost a year - letters are not wearing away.
I can tell you to polish up your resume and do some research.

Paint over the letters with clear fingernail polish.

Middle Eastern. I don't know why.
I can do the others with no problem at all, but there's something about the vocal tone that I literally cannot hear it properly.
middle eastern accents
I had one yesterday for that sang and hummed most of the report. He dictated in a sing-song voice that made me think he was casting some sort of spell. In between words and sentences he would say, ahhhh, ummmmmmm, and then speed ahead with the sing-song again. And it was all in a middle-eastern accent. It was an extra long report and awful. I was so jittery by the time I finally finished.
Eastern Maine Medical Center
I miss working with other people. I miss having a QA person or a supervisor I know and can go talk to. I miss the hospital gossip and hearing about people's grandkids. Sigh. I left them to work at home figuring it would be all that. But it's not. Sigh....
