I'm thinking somewhat differently. But good for you for SM

taking action. Since I don't believe fighting the Information Age is a good strategy (sort of like hunters-and-gatherers laughing at people sticking roots in the ground, to my mind) I'm signing up for classes to broaden my skills. I'm also looking into reactiving my appraiser's license (in case of future need. I appraised lots of foreclosures in the Reagan era and would definitely prefer to pass now).

Back to the healthcare industry, I would ask you, how does having IT performed on this continent fit into improving the delivery of good affordable healthcare to all of us? What has to be done so that this does serve that purpose? How do we fit into it? Best wishes for sure.

Good thinking!
Intelligent way to handle it.
It was so good. I was thinking they were going to continue it
again.  I just love George, Patrick Dempsey ain't bad to look at either.  What did Izzy used to be in?.  She looks so familiar but I don't recognize her name.
good thinking!!! SM inside :)

Good post - good thinking but really, as MTs, we already know we cannot *assume* anything - even on a bulletin board.  There are posters who annoy me too and those posters drive away the informative posters which is terribly unfortunate because many of them (the informative posters) are full of GREAT information that they are willing to share.  I hate them being driven away by a couple of handfuls of perpetrators.

You cannot assume everyone is that poster - you can think it's them but there's no proof, really, when you think about it.  Only the moderators/administrator know who is who on the boards.  If things get nasty, they remove all the nasty threads.

GMTA - remember this - great minds think alike - we don't need to lower ourselves to the perps (lack of) standards.

Thanks everyone! Good thing I asked, as I was thinking of 2-3 weeks! Yikes.
Thanks again.  I think I will give them one month and hopefully if they find someone sooner they will let me go on my way. (what a relief that will be too!)  Thanks!
Glad I was able to help....I just keep thinking about my inspiration (friend from gym). Good luck!!

Good thinking Wise MT about the blanket. I use fingerless gloves for the hands. NM. Thank you for

I think you need to see it differently ...
FIRST, we do not KNOW for sure the new MQ plan; it may be just be for particular offices at that.

Secondly, IF (big IF here) it is as some suggested based on 98% QA score and less than 15% of your work going to QA ... remember, this:
---that 98% is ONLY on the handful of reports chosen for actual QA'ing of your work;
---15% of your total work going to QA because of blanks is a LOT of your work; something is wrong if you are sending 15% of your work to QA for blanks and you need more training.

IF (again, big IF) the plan is designed the way one poster seems to think it is and everyone now ASSUMES it is ... you will still get paid if you don't meet this criteria -- you just won't qualify for production incentives.

The whole point is to REWARD those who have high skill and production in hand.

Not everyone will qualify. That is NOT just at MQ but at ANY place where there is a standard. Not everyone makes the cut.

Everyone CAN make that cut, though in varying degrees, by making a dedicated effort and commitment to improving their quality, learning ESLs better, learning to use tools/techniques for increasing their production, and mainly by letting go of this attitude that the company is out to get you.

I see things a little differently

>>>People want me banned because they don't like my point of view. That is childish. They want me banned because they attack me and get upset when I say something back. That is childish. If they don't like what I am saying, don't read my posts and don't respond to me.

If you're writing in a manner which is provoking  in people, then I would say the problem lies with you. Perhaps you are expressing yourself in a confrontational manner?

As far as "don't read my posts and don't respond to me," that's like telling people to stop rubber necking on the highway.

When time permits, I'll look at some of your posts and see what the shindig is all about.  Later.

Sorry - but I think you could have handled it differently
I am assuming you are an IC - which means who you work WITH is your biz and no one else's - and no one's business if you took on a second contract.  An IC works for who she wants when she wants and within reason sets her own deadlines.  A company understands this and does not give you a 2 hour TAT unless you request it or can handle it and you have an understanding with them
I guess I think differently.
If you really want this job, I think I would low ball it with a clause that says when his business picks up and you get more work that you will raise your rates.

If you are getting in on the beginning of this company, there will be room for advancement. You might want to discuss with him that aspect, whether it be an office manager or supervisor, etc. In that case, he might be offering benefits.
I handle it differently I guess ...
One thing I have done is designate an amount of money I will spend on me (be it travel, clothes, makeup, cologne, entertainment, etc.). I worked that figure into my budget. It is part of what I earn on a regular basis so I don't have to worry about doing what you described.

I used to do that. It got really old really fast. I felt I was overworked all the time (not that I don't feel really stretched sometimes now but it is a rare occasion and it always has to do with something other than work when I do). Seemed like I was never going to "have enough" to go on vacation without killing myself.
Okay, I'll say this differently this time
flaming face - to me, denoting hostility, then complains essentially that all the people who make less than nice comments should go somewhere else. My point was that the original post seemed to be contradictory, starting off with a hostile style of emoticon, then wanting everyone to just get along.

I hope my point is more clear.
Every company calculates differently.

Stedman's is organized a bit differently sm

and that is probably why I didn't like Tessier's at all.  I have other word books besides Stedman's and I don't like them either!  The only thing I like as well would be the MPI and I hardly ever use mine now.

In all fairness, I probably Google more than I do anything.  If I am looking for a ronguer or scissors or suture or needle, I use the M&S word book to find that.  If I am looking up a new drug-eluting stent, I google, BUT I can make what I am looking for so specific that I find less than 100 sites for most things.  I don't ever file through pages of it because that is useless too.

I dunno...only ever do OPs, have for a long time and it is to the point where I rarely have to search for anything.  Despite my advanced age, my near photographic memory is still highly functional. I thought that would be the first thing to go, but it wasn't.  In other ways, my brain is a junkyard.  I can remember a piece of equipment I transcribed only once 4 years ago, but I can't remember where I put my purse or keys!

Different types of errors are weighted differently ...
so more serious errors count more, less serious count less. I have 8 reports a month QA'd. My QA person listens to the dictation while reading my transcribed report and marks errors and classifies each error. The total is weighted on a percentage.

Last month on my 8 QA'd reports, I had only 1 error and it was a style format error (I used a "dash" as the physician dictated but the BOS2 says to use 2 dashes if dashes are being used and BOS2 prefers using semi-colons). That was the only error of any kind I had and it was not serious. My monthly QA score (because of how this type of error was weighted) was 99.9%. I have had a few times of 100% but I have never had below 99%. My QA person gives me a full explanation of why it is an error and sometimes marks information that is not counted against me but is given as "information only". Noncritical errors are only counted once in a document and critical errors are counted as often as you have them (ex: if you used perineal instead of peroneal --that is a critical error).
not true. Crux is, she is being treated differently than others

I feel differently about the whole anti-Wal-Mart thing...
If you don't like them, don't shop there.  If enough people don't like them, they'll eventually wither away.  If the little mom and pop stores didn't charge so much, people wouldn't go to the big department stores instead.  It's called competition and capitalism, neither of which are illegal.  At one time there was an uproar over supermarkets?  Are you still shopping for your bread at the bakery, your meat at the butcher, and your fresh produce at the vegetable man store?  No, of course not, you go to the supermarket without any sorrow in your heart for the little grocer who was put out of business decades ago.
Every version of Word seems to do auto numbering differently. sm
The last two versions have a number list style that will keep numbers at the left margin and do the hanging indent automatically. Alt-Shift-left arrow will take your list back to the left margin if you don't use the style but want to use automatic numbering.

Let's try to focus on the original question, not debate the evils of daycare. I agree, many discussions on this board do end in negativity, but I thought this one was going pretty well until we hit the nerve about daycare.

I think Kira has been given a lot of great information from a lot of different points of view. It's all food for thought.
My thinking too - thus the OMG nm

That's what I was thinking.
It sounds like a case of misdirected anger here.  Grandma was probably waiting for the right moment instead of springing bad news on them the moment they came through the door.  Are you going to all have a yelling match late at night when your'e tired from your trip and all the kids are home?  Better to wait until they're at school and discuss it like rational adults.  How many times has the kid been arrested and suspended before now?  The kid is the one who was wrong by misbehaving in the first place.  If he's such a bad seed, why did he get left with Grandma anyway?  Everyone knows Grandparents aren't as good as enforcing rules as parents are.  All this communication and responsibility nonsense is control freak bunk.  The kid wouldn't have been arrested and suspended if you truly had honest and open communication.  Why was he arrested and suspended anyway?
That's exactly what I was thinking

I was just thinking. . . .sm

I have a friend that was a Pug breeder. Unfortunately the "Pug couple" only had one litter as the female had major problems with her first and only litter.  She still has the male and female who are almost 10 years old and in good health.

She "rescued" a "Puggle" (Pug/Beagle cross) a few months ago and that poor dog had the worst gas. STINK!  It was just awful.  She was feeding him Iams just like her older Pugs, but he would make everyone run outside.  We had him in the car one day and we were all ready to just bail.

I'll have to ask her what she did to make the Puggle stop clearing out the neighborhood.

I too have been thinking about it...sm
I have not raised my price for five years and am seriously considering going up another penny maybe after the holidays.  I too pick up and deliver and we all know the cost of gas!  Anyway, I think I am due or overdue!!!

I was tought to type way back in the 10th grade. We learned right from the start not to look at the keys. Why do you need the letters to stay on?? I really don't understand it.
Thinking about it.

I have a BS that isn't that marketable (at least all of my A&P, Patho, etc.. were useful for this job) and am contemplating the same thing.

I have thought about outpatient primary care nursing since I don't really want to work in an inpatient environment.  I originally wanted to get my BSN but got sidetracked and am thinking about going back through a BS to BSN program sometime in the future.

My kids are 2,3 and 7 and while I know some people can do it, I think it would be really hard to go to RN school at this point in my life. Your child is older and it might be easier for you, but it will still be tough. You have to get to clinicals early and often stick around to get more information on your pt at the end. The night before your clinical, I have heard RN students have to do tons of prep work - you have to know your pt's medical condition inside and out and have all of your nursing diagnoses and care plans set up.

Its a lot of work but the career is very rewarding and the pay, despite all of the kvetching, is pretty darn decent.

If it is something YOU want to do, talk to an advisor.  Get the lowdown on it.  When I was in college the first time, the RN program had an information session for prospective students that included a Q and A with a current student.  But, make sure it is your goal - I let people convince me to go pre-med and within a semester I realized there was no way I wanted to be an MD.  Had I stuck to my desires instead of what someone else wanted for me and thought was a better choice, I might have been a pretty good nurse by now.

Good luck. Lots of people do it. It is much harder than when you have no kids but people do it all of the time.

If the guy is really as bad as she has us thinking,
and she could lose her current job and any future job. I am beginning to wonder if the site should start a "Support your local Jodi" page.
I'm thinking about getting the DVD, too. sm

I can't believe I didn't watch this show from the beginning.  I just really started watching it this season.  Now it's a must see show for me!

I really don't know what he was thinking......I just think he is
heartless and thought maybe he could leave the country and not have to come back or something??? I really don't know. I just think he put the gun back thinking he had cleaned it good and that no one would ever think to check that gun since noone knew it had been gone. As far as the computer, the porn looks bad if he is guilty but the fact is looking at porn doesn't make him guilty. On the other hand, if you take the computer then it does look like you are hiding something. He probably just didn't think about the computer....None of it makes sense to me either. I think he just killed her and then wasn't sure what to do.....
Don't know what I was thinking...
All of this is new to me. Forgive the stupid question.  I get how it works now.  Thanks.
Yes, I was thinking that I would...
need to gather some references, maybe a book or two. I have done some reports, but not a wide range. That is why I was hoping to get some imput from people who do psych on a regular basis.

Any references, info would be greatly appreciated :)
What are they thinking...?
I have looked into it and, quite frankly, it looks absolutely ridiculous. All these outrageous rules, especialy when a man (who came up with the theory) decided a woman shouldn't make any noise while giving birth (but she can have all the drugs she wants) and some goofball decides for his wife that's the thing to do! Go figure.

Exactly what I was thinking
Taylor was already an established entertainer, maybe not hugely successful, but already had his on stage persona established. Elliott, for example, was undiscovered and uncharted territory. Ready to be molded. I have read on the AI message board that some people just "couldn't get past the teeth". Well, uh, I think he can afford to get some work done now if he so chooses. To me a talent show should be about undiscovered talent, someone who grows tremendously during the competition. Can ya tell I'm an E fan. LOL.
I'm thinking it is because
it is just as easy to chat here on the boards?
i'm thinking you could
but don't really know about laptops. I was just looking yesterday about replacing my KVC and saw lots of variations. Could probably get your answer from one of these on-line sites or just call a local 'puter guy and see.
not sure about this, but when I was thinking-sm
about doing this, I was told I would need a program that would *transfer* the video from the camera to the computer, and I believe it is Dazzle, or something like it...once that is done, you could use your editing program. but again....not sure, as I have not actually done it. This is just what I was told. Good luck.
Thinking that may be...

one of the reasons his wife left. Not that I would hold it against him, obviously.   LOL!

What was he thinking???!!!
What a very painful thing to do to your son. He should have called you or atleast tried a more sensible approach (OTC products) to take care of the problem.

Your family physician can refer your son to a podiatrist, but most PCP's treat plantar warts right in the office with a procedure known as cryotherapy (freeze method.) It is a quick, relatively painless (some temp. burning) method that works well. In the office I work at children and adults of all ages have this done without much complaint. I would check into it. Kudos for taking pictures of his sores on his foot and sending the documentation to your attorney. Every piece of documentation counts in a situation like this.
I'm only 26 and thinking that already.
It's a shame we spend so much of our time trying to make a living, with any job really. My son is 7 now, and it is really starting to hit me that I only have so much more time with him until he is off to college.
That is what I was thinking that you could always
do something different with it as well, but you can do that with the dental too, teaching, etc.

I have read some nursing forums (there are not many I can find for the dental side) and have seen how they say they have to clock out after their 12 hours and do charts and could be working still 14-15 hours later because of the charts. That is why I am really leaning toward the dental hygienist program, but I just don't have many people that I have come across that can tell me more than the generic info I am finding on the internet.

my way of thinking
I do think of the first letter of each word when it comes to phrases ... but I have trouble remembering a lot of phrases, unless it's one that I've heard 10,000 times.

And then come the was/were combination: The wound was irrigated ... The wounds were irrigated --- The first letter for each phrase is TWWI ... so, how do I differentiate between the two?

And with IT, you're saying that you basically stare at the bottom of the screen?

I was thinking at least $26.
That's what I usually make once I'm familiar with the account. I'm in Missoula. :-)
