to sign my son up for school, I was fuming. We do not qualify for even reduced lunch. My daughter cannot go to preschool there because we make too much money and she speaks English. I have to drive her quite a ways to a preschool lab at the highschool because that is all I can afford, and this takes time out of me working. Yet, most all of the people who were sitting down signing their kids up for free preschool and free lunches were dressed much nicer than the stuff we had. The preschoolers were wearing air jordans! My kids had on walmart shoes. I talked to the school about taking into consideration I have a student loan, medical bills, etc. They said they only go by the income. I told them, "well, if I wasn't paying over $700 a month for my own healthcare and paying for my own food, etc., I would have the money to put her in a regular preschool." When you take out all the things we have to pay out of our pocket and all the tax that is used to support these people, I am actually making less than they are!
