It will count everything if you go in the settings and program it to. Good program!
Sylcount is an awesome and accurate counting program also. That will count everything if you "tell it to".
Yes, they do. Call your supervisor.
You can also go online to the website and read the downtime polcy and see that it sounds like your situation constitutes technical downtime.

If you have problems, contact Human Resources.
Obviously you do not call the supervisor and
make a lot of small talk and chatter about how wonderful he/she is, what a hard job they have, and find all their points of interest, etc. You have to "butter up" the bosses. You are stuck with the crap and you know it. The ones who can spend part of their day with the small talk are the ones who get ahead.
Why don't you call the hospital?
If it is a VA hospital, I would think they would be concerned if subcontractor was playing games with the money.
at my local hospital, they always call the

I think that is pretty standard. Calling by the first name only would be rather confusing. Especially if it is a busy hospital with a waiting room that is always full, like our local hospital.

I have a "questionable behavior" story for you! I went to the walk-in clinic held at our local hospital b/c I was having pain in my pinky finger. The waiting room was packed, as always. I go in, see the doc, and he tells me to go back to the waiting room until they call my name again. After a few mins in the waiting room, he calls my name & I get up thinking he was going to bring me into a room to privately give me my diagnosis. NOPE! The dope says it to me, loudly - not at all in a whispering tone, in the middle of the waiting room for everyone to hear!! He said "I think it is some kind of fungal infection" His actions were not only humiliating, but wrong! It was not an infection, rather a blood clot that developed on my nerve that needed to be removed surgically! Now, that, I think qualifies for a HIPAA violation!!  (Yes I did file a complaint with the Patient Care Rep)

Call the MR department at the hospital and ask sm
simply "who does your transcription". May not work every time, but they gave me the name of the service, and the phone number. I called the service and asked if they were hiring. She said, "we are always hiring", and I was working for them 3 days later.
don't worry, you may end up getting a call from the hospital to come back - sm
it has been happening a lot lately. Hospitals are getting rid of certain services and taking the work back inhouse and local.
On-call transcription in a small hospital

I work for a very small rural hospital with only two full-time transcriptionists and one part-time transcriptionist.  We have recently been told that the administration of our hospital is entertaining the idea of on-call Transcriptionist for uncovered hours.  We already work alternating Saturdays (day shift only).  I wanted to know if any other hospitals out there do on-call transcription (Not from home and not outsourced).  They want us to physically drive in and be in the office to do this transcription.  Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I am suspicious it is the Citrix because I remember it slowed down a hospital program I used to use
IT had to change from Citrix to something else to get it to speed up and work better. I don't know what Citrix is, but it must be bad, LOL.
Call a local school or program and ask. I was asked if I wanted to teach when I

Most in-house hospital jobs allow only 30 minutes for lunch! So I wouldn't call an hour lunch
"rigid."  If you are an employee, there are rules, set schedules, etc. that you have to expect.
Depends on what kind of hospital? Large urban hospital or small community hospital? SM

Also, is it a large teaching hospital? If so you have to consider there will be A LOT of different residents dictating, usually a lot of ESLs at teaching hospitals, and the residents rotate out and new ones rotate in every summer. So you can't expect to get the same dictators and build up your macros because the dictators change all the time.

I would say 9 cpl would be a pretty good offer for a small to medium community hospital where you will be doing the same dictators on a daily basis.  But for bigger, urban or teaching hospitals I would want at least 12 to 15 cpl.

got the "phone call" -- get this, MQ has hired a bunch of telemarketers to call all of us to

we received our "incentive packet."  They don't even have the wherewithall to contact us personally.   These are temp-agency hired telemarketers sitting around a boiler room making sure we're reading our mail.... told him it don't pertain to me because I've been demoted from FT to SE.... He said, "yes, the letter is vague, but it does pertain to FT as well as SE...." yeah right, we'll see.

You can use Shorthand in ANY program, it works outside your program
I have never found a platform it did not work with and I have worked on several different versions of Meditech. Just start using it.

I am using Express Scribe, and I tried the settings and that didn't help. Thank you!

Yes, I am afraid I did all of that. It keeps coming back and saying that it is not a supported file. Thank you very much for helping!
Under settings. sm
Click Playback tab. For Rewind, I have set mine to 500 and Speed at 150.
Try the Settings.
Under playback tab you can change the rewind. Mine is set at Step (ms) 500 and Speed (%) 150.
Go into Settings.
On the Control tab use the footpedal setup wizard to set what part of the pedal does what. On the Playback tab, you can change the backspace. On the
Have You Tried the Settings?
I haven't used Express Scribe since school, but have you changed the settings?  I had to change it to change the settings for what food petal I was using.  The one I chose was V-something (VEC?  VRC?) 3-pedal, I can't remember.
It may have to do with your settings sm
under File, preferences. Make sure you don't have verify target window checked. Also, may be the pause....after so many keytstrokes. Play around with that one. Every body is different but what works for me is pause 5 msec after 1000 keystrokes.

Also, try waiting for the expansion to appear before you type the word after it.

And below, make sure you have simulate Keystrokes checked.
Settings....
On Exp Scribe, click on settings, file type, and if you don't what type of file, just check them all. Then give it a try and see what happens.
Did you try the settings on the
monitor itself.  Mine has buttons to push to change the screen size and my old one had a dial.  That's about as much as help as I can give.
Except my supervisor is NOT an MT
And anyway, our experiences are just different.

I think if I was being routed crap, yeah, I'd be pissed. I'm just saying routing, or reserved as someone pointed out, isn't ALWAYS a bad thing.

It's not cherry picking if the folks who do the routing aren't transcribing. And at my place they're not. Trust me, I ask them questions and they have no idea what I'm talking about. They're admin people, not MTs.
MQ supervisor
Mine is a wonderful lady, helpful, funny, hard-working. I think Atlanta has the best staff in the country.
Not unless they are actually your QA supervisor.

Tell your supervisor!
Do you work for a company that is located in Massachusetts?  I won't say the name....most pathetic QA on the planet.
Supervisor of who?
If it is just her, who is she supervising?  Maybe they want to pay her to supervise at this point since they gave her the title?  How do you not give the girl a chance?  Anyone with experience would need trained even on the difficult doctors.  Give her some samples.  Just because it was not the "supervisor's" decision on who they hire doesn't mean this girl wouldn't work out.  I think the supervisor is afraid this girl might just show her up while she's gone!!  JMO.
I had a supervisor like this. (sm)
Her mistakes & shortcomings were glaring and inexcusible. But although these were, and continue to be, pointed out to HER supervisor (who hired her) and even higher-ups, they stand behind her as if she were a saint. (Which she is NOT.) Nope, I really don't think it's worth pointing out her flaws, it'll just put you under a microscope and in the company's gunsights at a future time. That's the kind of people upper middle management seems to want these days. Pretty sad.
What do you think of a supervisor
who watches her transcriptionists' typing time including in between reports for the whole shift plus, even when there is a split shift, and then questions if there is more than a few minutes in between reports for that whole time. Just wanting some input. This truly exists in at least 2 jobs I know of and I have a certain opinion about that. And this would not be a manager who is watching newbies to help them if they were needing help, this is someone monitoring the whole staff. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
AND CC THEIR SUPERVISOR...SM

They will think twice about nitpicking then.

Did you check all your settings and especially....
your password in OE? If so, is the Spamgard on in Yahoo so that it is keeping from going to your OE?

I DID go into the settings and *told* it what to --sm
count. It was still very inconsistent and would not count headers, even though I *told* it to. I would count lines with it and then recount with Sylcount and Abacus was always fewer lines. This was just MY experience with it and I don't need to be made to sound like I am not familiar enough with these programs to not do the *settings* correctly. thank you.
it depends on the settings
I worked before for gross lines, but it depends on the margins and the font setup.  I had one account that was Ariel 12 and the other was only a font of 10.  With the 12 font I got more lines credited as opposed to the 10 font.  Working at 9 cpl without spaces actually evens out to about the same as the lesser amount with spaces.  You can download Abacus and then take a document you have typed and have it count it without spaces and with gross lines and then see the difference, it's really not that much.
click settings then...sm
under Playback tab, adjust the Auto Backstep on Stop (0-5000ms). 1000ms = 1 second.
Go to settings, then file and
it gives you a spot to put the number of days to delete files.
Control-settings....
Thanks so much - still having problems.  Got the wizard to work on a couple of ports, but only to the push rewind pedal - then will do nothing - locks up and goes crazy with buttons on Express Scribe flashing continuously...any ideas?
Will do both, but how do I get those settings back?
TIA
Mine won't let me do that. Wonder if it could have to do with the settings? nm

Changing settings

You can change the settings.   With your mouse on the main desk top screen, right click and go downto properties.  Go over to the settings tab and this will give you options for changing the font size.   You can change it in that setting by changing the pixel settings, or you can click on the Advanced button and change your DPI setting (or both).

Hope that helps.

I believe if you go into your settings while booting up. SM
On my PC if you push F2 or F8 during the boot up process it will take to your configuration settings.  There will be an option that will be able to clear the password so that you will not be asked for a password anymore.
Yes, I had looked at settings, but I don't see how
to do that. My screen is stretched now, and maybe I'm looking at the wrong place. I dunno....I'm seriously challenged when it comes to this stuff....thanks for replying
