this is totally disgusting at 4:30 in the morning. I wish she had to listen to herself for a few minutes.

Nurse practitioner

Does anyone have a good website to find Nurse Practitioner addresses?

TIA

Stacy

I feel your pain. The nurse practitioner I transcribe..sm
Just dictated 37 minutes worth of dictation. It was only 4 pages long, took me 2 hours, and only came out to 189 lines. It feels like I already have a pen in my temple!
Will be a nurse-practitioner...but I'll keep my MTSO as long as it stays alive...
nm
YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTD, YUCK WAS MOLESTD
YUCK WAS MOLSESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED. NOW SHE'S ACTING OUT.
Please go to a medical practitioner at once! sm
Only a doctor or other practitioner can tell you what's wrong and how it should be treated. Your condition could be very dangerous.

You know the old saying: The medical Transcriptionist who tries to diagnose herself or anyone else has a fool for a patient!
All of the above, plus chewing.

Especially chewing!
Eating or drinking while dictating--chewing in my ear! This is the worst!
Dictators chewing gum
I just have to know....Does it drive anyone else absolutely CRAZY when a doctor chews gums or is sucking loudly on candy while dictating????  It drives me insane to the point of being irate by the time I am finished with the report!!!!!!!!!!!  I actually get chest tightness and a headache just listening to them.
docs chewing
Our docs do it all the time. I guess they don't think we can hear them :)
Chewing gum/eating

One Russian psychiatrist actually ate an entire apple while dictating, and her accent could hardly be understand to begin with.  We're talking right off the boat.

I particularly like someone eating an item wrapped in paper, because then you get both the chomping and the crackling.

And gum chewers (of which I've had several) who slurp, smack and actually crack the gum into the phone.

chewing, yawning, moving around...
NOT SPELLING WORDS THEY CAN'T EVEN PRONOUNCE...HELLO! That must be the biggest thing for me! Who do they think I am, Sylvia Brown???
How do you break a kitten from chewing on and playing with your cords and wires? I just got my

daughter a kitten.  I haven't had a cat since I was a kid.  I'm kind of a dog person.  The darn thing keeps playing with all the cords and wires under my desk and jumping on my desk and walking on my C-phone and keyboard and knocking stuff off my desk.  I'm losing my mind!  He's very playful and he is very rough.  He is always attacking my feet while I'm working and not to sound like a baby, but it really hurts!  I put him in "time-out" by putting him in a separate room and shutting the door for like 10 or 15 minutes, but he just goes right back to his bad behavior.  It's definitely not like training a dog!

Help me please!  My line count is suffering on account of his silly cat and I don't think my boss is going to buy my cat as a legitmate excuse!

YUCK
I agree. I like it nice and cool. My pocketbook likes it a little warmer. :-)
Yuck
nm
yuck...
I eat red meat, pork but mostly chicken.

If you don't want to red meat, that's cool. But, word of warning to you - many begetarians think they are eating heathfully because they cut out meat, but in fact, vegans often have high cholesterol counts because they eat so many dairy foods. They also often fry foods - you would be better off eating an 8 oz steak than eating a couple of batter dripped deep fried cheese stick.

Please watch the fat content of your food.

Good health to you!
Yuck/LOL..... what??
Was that one liner in response to my post Yuck????  What???? are you tongue tied Yucky yuck upchuck?????  I didnt ask about your overweight issues Yuck.. .. Sorry that you have them.   Try weight watchers.  I have heard they help.  But Yuck.... who will help you get a personality???? GEEZ  whatever will the Yuckster do????
Come on now Yuck...

Let it all out Yuck/LOL.  I know you have been showing multiple personalities on here.... but we see through that and we hear your pain Yuckie duckie.  Dont worry, your husband just probably couldnt stand it anymore.... I mean, we've only known you a few short hours and already can't stand you.... So, it's okay.  Some people are only human....  Yuckiity doooo.  I know you can't comprehend that either, but just nod your big head and pretend.... you're good at that.  Now, Yuck, lets talk about the pimples, the flour that you've been rolled in, your need to insult others and chalk it up to having fun..... when did this all start????   How is the bed wetting??  Is it still as frequent???

Yuck
Yuck - go play in traffic!
Yuck
Well, there ya go person posting as Yuck.  I got on this forum tonight to check out a company.  When I read the posts on here from you about the administrator of this board and all your other posts in response to other people, I was really taken aback.  Many MTs have posted in response to you, asking you nicely/professionally/maturally to please stop.  You are insulting, demeaning, critical, nasty, rude and very hurtful in your posts.  I was/am outraged and amazed at the things you have said on here.  All my posts to you are what you have put out there to us.  Kind of funny how when someone starts saying nasty (and I didnt even call you any vulgar names like you did) things back to you, being critical and hurtful back to you, you all of a sudden do not have a lot to say.  It doesnt feel real good does it?  What you do in fun can actually be very damaging to someone else.  I am glad that you seem taken aback by my posts to you.  That was the point.  I wish that you would stop and really think about what your words may mean to someone else.  That someone else is a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister.  Have you any of those?  How would you like it if any of your family was treated the way you have treated us tonight?  Especially the admin of this board.  How awful of you to talk that way about this person.  This forum is here as a courtesy to us.  Why are you abusing it?
Yuck....
I work every single weekend for the next year.  That is my companies policy for newbies...... boo!
yuck!
I hope you get your old one back...or another good new one!
Yuck
Why do I have to listen to this doc sucking up his snots through his nose while he is dictating? Can't he just take a break and blow his nose. It's making me sick to my stomach.
Yuck...
This was my experience a few years ago...Overall, the people were nice but I encountered my first and only QA Nazi there. Right off the bat, she introduced herself as having 30+ years of experience (compared to 14+) for me. That should have been my first red flag because who throws that into their introduction. I certainly did not state my years of experience as part of my introduction. Anyhow, I just chose to ignore it and give it all I had. All of the other QA were so nice and then I got HER.... It was, "you missed a tense" as in past tense such as a discharge summary in which most of it was dictated with past tense i.e. was, did etc. Well, excuse me, I missed one because I just get in the habit sometimes of typing what the physician states instead of correcting everything they say. I felt totally nitpicked and the final straw was when she told me that it was wasting their money having me because I was having to be on QA. EXCUSE ME.. what is QA supposed to be doing but QA-ing the new people. Never in my life has anyone told me that I was wasting their time and money. I was insulted. No, I am not perfect but I also was NOT a newbie and did not feel like I was looking to them for guidance on how to do transcription. So, that being said, I'd have to give them a thumbs down. It's a shame because the manager and the other QA people were quite nice but she had obviously been in the business too long, old and burned out, which ruins it for everyone else.
Actually, I was never a nurse.

However, I was a certified lifeguard (among other things) before I got into MT.  I do well enough at it that I quit my fulltime federal job to stay home with my kids.  They fly around the house while I type.

I was a nurse and became an MT...
without attending a formal MT school, however, I  had a mentor who was a small MTSO.  She gave me the tapes (the 80s) and I muddled my way through it.   But it was not office notes, it was hospital work.  Big big difference.  And, it took me 2 yrs to be up to snuff with all the accents, dictation styles, and vast range of hospital reports.  It was by no means a "snap."
Does this look like Ask-A-Nurse? These are MTs here, and
lots of them aren't even good at that, let alone doing triage over the Internet for your son.
I have a nurse
that says "just put" before every sentence...I've considered typing "just put" LOL.

I also have another doctor that says "At the present time" every other sentence.

Oh and then there is one that likes to be cute and say 78-year-young patient

but the most annoying thing to me of all are the doctors that dictate half a report and then start over at some random spot for absolutely no reason but say everything differently so you have to retype the whole freaking report!

If they could hear the garbage we make into nice pretty finished documents they would definitely pay more! I guarantee they don't ever listen back and see what they are saying!

Oh one more...

the doc i'm typing right now leaves words out. "Attempted (to) contact Dr. SoandSo (he) could not (be) reached."

*sigh*
how old is too old to become a nurse...sm
I have been contemplating my life and was thinking about going back to school to become a nurse, but I will be 48 this year and I was wondering at what point a person is getting too old to go into nursing due to the physical strains.  Just curious.
Nurse....
In my bio class (prereq for nursing) there is a woman who is 50. I don't think you're ever too old. Another thing, not all nursing jobs are physically demanding. It just depends on where you choose work.
why not ask a nurse or two?
x
Yuck, I don't eat red meat, but (sm)

do eat some chicken for more protein.  Also eat lots of fruit with cottage cheese and lots of green, leafy vegetables.  Also, a way to get more protein is nuts, like cashews or almonds and feta cheese with your salads.

For lunch today is pasta with some cheese biscuits with garlic salt, also a green salad with feta cheese.  Melons with cottage cheese for a snack.  No meat at all and I don't miss it!  You get used to it.

Come on Yuckie Yuck
Dont you have any new, original material?  Your insults are old and boring.  Old, fat, pimply, blah blah.  We've heard it all from you already.  Why don't you take a break and sleep on it.  Maybe in the morning you'll have a better come back.  Maybe you'll wake up and finally find an excuse for yourself, or you can pretend that you actually have a reason to be breathing the air that you breath.  or maybe you can pretend that your are NOT really just a waste of space, a stain on the floor.  A Loooohoooooser.  Come on cheesyball, you're having fun here, right?????  So, whatcha got????
YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED
YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED, NOW SHE'S ACTING OUT.
YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED
, YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED, YUCK WAS MOLESTED AND NOW SHE'S ACTING OUT.
If that is Yuck's club no thanks
her idea of cool is sitting and popping her pimples all day and then having her husband pop the ones on her fat butt all night.  That is why he left ya know.   Well, one of the reasons anyway.
I found YUCK...
You know, posting as LOL doesnt fool us Yuck.  We know you are one in the same.  I think it is a Sybil complex.  Listen, I know you have many personalities, but try to keep them all on the same page so that you make sense, okay?  By the way, does daddy like Yuck or LOL better?
Family. Yuck!
I just don't work with friends or family. Period!
I saw that on TV, too, last night. Yuck! nm
x
You can look it up on McDonalds on the web. YUCK

Not only do they taste awful (I tried a bite once - yuck), they have 560 calories, 21 grams of fat, etc., etc., but what people don't even look at is the SODIUM!

Sodium in these bad boys is 1260!!!

And people EAT this junk?

reply to yuck
Hey, they are always going to be out there. You live and learn just like we all did.
People actually advertise with "no experience necessary" you too can be an MT!
Oh yuck, I hate that, too.
a
doctors.. yuck
Every problem that MTs and MTSOs have is because the CEOs and underlings are so terribly scared to say anything to the doctors... they are SAINTS you know... NOT !!!!! It totally disgusts me... only good thingfor us is that the medical field is where the money is today and we need our jobs so we put up with the bullsh-t.
yuck, i will never like c-phones...sm
No matter what i ever tried, the footpedal with a Cphone is just awful....I wonder why companies still use this antiquated hot mess.
Registered Nurse or registered nurse
I think I am just tired.  The patient is a Registered Nurse.  Should that be capitalized?
School nurse
I was really stupid about them.  My child was complaining that something was in his head, and I actually took him to school nurse, she said he did not have them.  By the time I actually caught on, we had a terrible infestation, and I have been obsessed with them ever since.  Even going to the beauty shop, the hairdresser will pick up the same hairbrush she has used on everyone and use it on you.  I am hypersensitive to them after the infestation we had.  Probably not smart to treat beforehand, but gosh, we had a horrible time several years back, you could not even find that stuff (Nix) in the stores, they were sold out.
I did MT before becoming a nurse, return afterwards. sm
Hated nursing. It wasn't all that I thought it would be. I found I could make more being an MT and with a heckuva lot less stress and backbreaking labor.
First you think we're Ask-A-Nurse...
then you blame some of those who actually did try to help you. Hello? What an idiot. Truly.
With the help from a mother who is a nurse. nm
x
If MT got me 50k, I wouldn't need to be a nurse. lol sm
But I am about a quarter away from an AAS in HIM but am dropping and moving to nursing. I'll have to do all the science prereqs, which are the hardest, so it will still take me about 3 years too for a 4-yr degree.
CNA is not a nurse and should in no shape or

form be performing anything other than assisting patient with ADLS, doing vitals, etc.   I can't believe a reputable medical facility would allow her to perform such duties without proper education/certification and this needs to be brought to the attention of management.   If indeed this is true she is a major liability.  If the facility accepts Medicaid/Medicare they would lose their license, not to mention possible lawsuits.

Oh and by the way, being a nurse in no way qualifies you to be and MT. SM
That was my point.
