I have actually contemplated doing just that

In case of a power outage.  I know I can take my laptop with the wifi and go into another town or city and "capture" a connection provided by an, um, school!...yeah, that's it ;-) 

Download the stuff, plug in the foot pedal, and it's almost like being at home except way more cramped.  I think it's definitely do-able, just not too efficient.  But hey, if it means the difference between getting paid and not getting paid, we gotta do what we gotta do, right?
