I've wondered about her too.

I've wondered why we can't have... sm

A grammar check program along with spell check in MT software.  (Or does someone have that?)  Wouldn't a grammar check catch things like those pesky missing words?

Of course, it would take a little longer to run a grammar check than spell check, and we wouldn't want to change a dictator's style just because grammar check might suggest something, but wouldn't it be nice to have?

I've often wondered too

how ads can ask for ~full-time~ contractors, seems like a contradiction to me as far as definition of IC status and looks kind of silly in an ad in my opinion, besides thinking that someday this could cause a little bit of a problem with IRS.

Ya know, I've always wondered ---- (sm)
If an MTSO is paying to have the work typed in India or wherever, and once again to have it edited, not to mention a client-turnaround when low-paid editors aren't what they're cracked up to be, in the end, are they still paying about the same to have that work done less well than it would be by paying experienced American MTs a living wage? I'm a bit curious (and skeptical) of just how much money they're supposedly saving by offshoring it.
I've often wondered about this one myself - thanks for bringing it up! nm

RadGuy, I've always wondered what you
Good to have a visual...helps my fantasies. LOL!
I've wondered where B. Grow is (sm)
I bought my copy of Smartype from her when I worked at Winsolutions with her. I used to visit her website every one in awhile, too, for Smartype tips.  I noticed that the website is down now, so I'm not sure how to get ahold of her anymore. Good advice, though.  I'm sure she'd have some ideas.
Thanks. I've wondered that since I saw the infomercial.

I've always wondered that ERMT!
I mean, a kid comes in with a splinter yet they always dictate a complete physical and I'm thinkin' "no way they had time to do all THAT."  Right down to tympanic membranes and stuff kind of detail.  I can get away with "normals" for most of my ER dictators and that just "ain't" right
I've always wondered what made them do away with the ART? SM

Back when I was starting out as an MT, I worked with an older woman who was an ART and told me if I ever wanted to earn those credentials, she would mentor me.  That's all you had to do was sort of do an apprenticeship with a mentor and then you could take the test.

Now, if you want your RHIT, you HAVE to complete a RHIT education program.  That's one of the hesitations for me in trying for my RHIT.  I'm not sure I want to commit to full-time school!

You can take the CCS exam for coding without a formal education just as long as you have work experience in HIM and transcription counts.

I agree, I've wondered that myself
Particularly since many of the docs always use what I call the "royal we" instead of simply saying *I*. It's like it's gotta be a group thing. Or they think they're kings.

Hmmmm..... LOL
Very good question! I've always wondered that myself. nm

Over the past 33 years, I've often wondered sm
the same, is it worth it? I guess it was for me, as I really don't know what else I would prefer to do (besides crafting, my pets, gardening, and other hobby stuff). I don't think I'd consider starting out now as an MT with things the way they are.

As far as the depression, anxiety, etc., I don't think being at home alone causes these. I think these problems are inherent in those particular people who eventually turn to this type of work.

What I'm saying is (put out the flames) not all or even many of us have these problems, but those who do would find this kind of work attractive.

I think it's important for those of us at home to pursue outside interests to get us in the world. I'm delighted to be able to be home all the time. Sometimes I don't leave the house for 4-5 days at a time. My pets provide a lot of company. When I want people, I email some, or go out somewhere.

LOL. Wow, you've thought about that one a lot, haven't you?

It's good to have a plan, I agree.  I'd like to set up an SEP retirement account for myself because I know social security won't be there for me.

No, I'm just really tired of job hunting.  My perfect job would be parttime with regular steady hours.  I don't care if I'm SE or IC.  It's not about only wanting to work when I want to.  I know that the company needs coverage.  However, I'd like to be able to take a day off when I'm sick instead of being told, "No, we need this work done.  Nobody can do it except for you."  I could even make up my hours, but IC seems to mean you're not allowed to get sick or anything.  It just seems like you sell your soul to the devil just for the "luxury" of working at home.  I'm so extremely tired from everyone demanding from me all the time.  I pitch in all the time when they're out of TAT or someone else is absent, but I'm not allowed to have needs of my own.  The more you give of yourself, the more everyone wants.  I feel as if there's nothing left inside of me.

If they haven't paid you, are you SURE they've
I've been down that road before. Filled out the forms, had money taken from each paycheck, only to find out about a year later that I'd never had insurance at all during that time. Only found out when I finally needed to go to a doctor. Then WHOOPS! No insurance. I filed with the State Labor Board, won the case, and put them out of business. That sure did feel good, too.
Umm, actually you haven't been "saying" anything. You've been causing
If you don't like it here, you know what you can do, right? For one little newbie, you're sure causing a big stink, aren't you? Accept the people here for who they are, and we'll do the same back for YOU. It's a two-way street. Stop trying to cause so much trouble. You remind me of some spoiled brat having a temper tantrum when she doesn't get her way. Honestly.
I've always wondered about numerology. My birthday is on the 19th, my mom's birthday is on th
19th, my dad's birthday is on the 19th, and my great-grandmother's birthday is on the 19th.  All of different months, but I've always wondered if there was something significant about the number 19 that I'm missing.
I've been hearing this for years, haven' t you.? It gets boring.

I've heard of it and looked at it but haven't done much research on it.
I think that my first impression was it was NOT HIPAA compliant but I could be wrong on that. I'm curious enough now to take a second look.

You've got a point there. I haven't had a problem since I deleted Norton
and installed a different program.
I've worn mine working for a year and haven't had a problem. .sm
I even still handle floppy disks all the time.  The magnets aren't that strong.
Wondered about this myself
I have wondered if Dragon Naturally Speaking for Medical Transcription is a way to increase overall line count...I seriously want to know how is it that some MTs can type up to 2000 lines a day!  That is phenomenal!  Is there a secret?  Please share!
Just wondered
Am actually right up the expressway in northern Pasco, needs a few cosmetic things I didn't really want to mess with and would like to get out before the holidays so thought about going with someone who would purchase it as is, quickly.
I have wondered that myself also!
I was born in 1980 and let me tell you when I turned five, I don't ever remember writing my name in Kindergarten or numbers. All I remember about it was the socialization through play time with the other kids, NAP TIME, and learning to tie my shoes!

Now, they have the kids (my son is in Kindergarten this year) writing their full name and writing their numbers to 100, colors, shapes, etc.

They don't even teach tying shoes anymore because their curriculum is so full (per my son's teacher) that they just don't have time.

Once a child hits the age of being diagnosed with a problem whether it be PDD, ADHD, speech delay, etc. every move you make as a parent is scrutinized by every educator involved in your child's life.

Honestly, it is awful the amount of stress involved in it. You find yourself battling with the CSE committee, teachers, etc. so that they will listen to YOU so that what you feel is appropriate can be done for your child. Of course, they don't listen half the time and then mistakes are made and they wonder why.

Half the time, I think they should listen to the parents of the children more and their books a little bit less and maybe those children with difficulties including my own son would be better off.

The educational standards have increased and therefore, it puts increased demands on the child so you see a lot more children being diagnosed with things or lagging behind when if they were born when we were it probably would have been overlooked as "Oh so and so will catch up, don't worry"

I am not so sure if that is a good or bad thing at this point but I can tell you that it does put added stress into your life when you have to deal with constant battle for the right thing on a regular basis.
Ok, I get it. Thanks! I wondered!

I always wondered who did this for
law enforcement. Is it 911 calls? surely not all calls?
How do you get into this? Does it help if 2 sons are cops?! In Texas. and you have my full admiration. I have heard pieces of those calls and I don't know how you are doing it. I thought the background was bad in medical dictation, but at least they are not screaming and sirens blasting.
I have wondered
It's always bothered me when a company offering an "IC" position presents me with a contract.  It seems so backward.  Shouldn't I be providing a contract?  One company's owner became totally irate when I wanted to add codicils to her contract.  Weird.  Again, it's a matter of companies wanting to save $$$ by classifying us as IC's, but controlling us like employees.  As long as some MTs agree to this program, it will continue.
I have often wondered
If lines are counted differently in various accounts (within the same company). It sure seems like one particular account I do just doesn't add up to what it seems like it should.

I'm afraid to ask, because I always get the feeling they want us to be compliant or else.

I think it's worse when no one is actually working in an office. We are all on our own, and no one knows what's actually going on with anyone else or the company.
I have wondered that...
and I appreciate hearing it can be done. Will come in handy on the days of my worst backache.
I have often wondered about this
By the time we get our quality check documents (or a facility sends back an error), so much time has gone by it's hard to remember if something was left blank, but one time I had a report come back with a drug name spelled wrong and not capped when it should have been. I had an Expander for this drug which was correct, so I was pretty sure it had been a blank.

When I asked my supervisor to check into it, he finally e-mailed me back saying that once the document is finished (blanks filled) and sent, there is no way to tell what was what. I then e-mailed back and asked if they pull our quality docs in the middle of working then (?); otherwise how would they know who made the mistake if they can't tell after a blank has been filled? He never responded back.

I'm sure QA would not want to take the blame for a mistake they weren't sure was not theirs, why should we?

Does anyone know anything about this? Anyone in QA maybe? I'd really like to know for future reference as I am sure something like that will happen to me again eventually.
I used to work there and wondered if anyone
What their platform is, do they have all three shifts, can we still work in-house.  I would just like to go back to being in-house and I remember this company being very nice to work for as well as a lot of the women were wonderful to work with.  Do you work there too?
Cute! I wondered what that was. :)

I wondered that myself. How can you make a
normal for a doc and then take it with you. If a new doc would you not need a new normal considering the majority of them all dictate differently?
I have wondered about accupuncture sm
and wanted to try it. How do you know when you find a good one? What do you look for?
I always wondered that as well - how do they know if you do/do not use dial-up?? (nm)

I wondered what you thought :-)
Me thinks Clay has had ~some work done~. Good for him. He was great!

Congrats on the win. Taylor is a fantastic entertainer and will go far.

I'm considering getting tickets (if any are still available) for the AI tour.

I wondered if it would be effective
To train a voice recognition to your voice, listen to the dictation and just restate it into your VR. Seems if the software learns you well, there'd be very little keyboarding needed. No more carpal tunnel, and typing speed would be irrelevant.

Anyone use this method?
I sort of wondered if it was that he would be

You know I wondered how they knew...sm
My boss (the owner of Allstate) just said how many of you are cutting and pasting from word? And most everyone said they were. She said the client is having problems and I didn't even understand what she was talking about like what kind of problems. But they traced it back to cutting and pasting from word. The client asked if the MTs were doing that and she told them yes because our Expanders and spellcheckers won't work and they said DO NOT do that anymore. So I said you know I can't do this. It was just a pain. Wasn't worth it. So I don't know how they knew but they did.
I wondered if your NOLA = New Orleans LA!

Yes, I agree, I think that is not a bad wage for my area.  I work for a medical school in NOLA (hint: Go Green Wave ) as my FT job, but transcription is not my primary job.  I honestly couldn't do transcription FT every day!  My hat goes off to all who do though.

I had wondered where Clay had been and I did not realize that...sm
he had been involved in all sort of scandal from a gay sex scandal to some upset fans wanting to file a class action suit to get their money back on his albums since he was not the wholesome boy they thought he was. Geez. I also saw where AI told reports they could not ask Clay about his sexual preference last night as it was off limits. I really do not care if he is or is not, I love his voice and always have, it is just sad he is going through all this right now.
No, I was just saying I had wondered if you had kept in contact with the family.
Well, thanks for posting...very interesting. Hey, even though it turned out so poorly, it's still something to tell the grandkids about, lol. Not everyday you're on TV. ;)
I wondered that as soon as I opened it earlier, LOL.nm

Never in my life have I ran something over with my car, heard a thud, wondered what it was and

not the parents or cartakers, don't you think?

Yes, I found them on several sites, just wondered if anyone was using them, had any opinions, etc.

I wondered what happened to his show, I like him. I want to buy his book. nm

I often wondered the same thing, so I started watching--sm
as to when they change to blue and I have determined that whenever you run a defrag or do a disc cleanup, the older files are compressed to make room on the hard drive. These compressed files are then the blue ones. You cannot change them back to black. If I am wrong, and I am sure there will be someone on here who thinks I am, please correct me, but this has been my experience.
I use EXText with my current job and I've used at a couple of other jobs I've had. I've ne

used DocQscribe, but I have used Meditech, Cerner, Vianeta, the Precyse platform (I can't remember the name), Dolbey, and  Lanier platform I think was called Cequence (?).

Out of all the different platforms I have typed on, I have liked EXText the best.  In my opinion, it's very user friendly, easy to learn, and I really like ESP which is the built in abbreviation expander.  Plus it is very easy to create your own normals which I love.  My fingers literally never leave the keyboard because there are macro keys for everything.  You can use your mouse if you prefer or learn the function macros.  I love it.  I think I'm more productive on EXText than with any other platform.

I wondered the same thing. A lot of companies require CMT for editing and

I think it would be interesting to know how many people passed the CMT exam 2 years after graduation.

that is pretty much how I feel, just wondered if I was wasting time. nm
