From one dinosaur to another
You might want to consider easing in to things.  Maybe pick one or two functions to learn at a time when you feel motivated.  I'm thinking copy/paste might be one if Medrite doesn't have a command similar to the Ctl X that DocQScribe does for copying preop diagnosis down to postop diagnosis.  Of course, if it does have a similar command, I'd learn that one first!  Expanders are so worth it!  I can't imagine not having or using one.  Don't you get tired of typing *the patient* or *General Hospital* a gazillion times a day?  Again, just add to the Expander as you think of it (get tired of typing the same word or phrase over and over again).  You don't have to do it all at once.  I think once you have a few choice phrases in there, you will like it a lot.  Good luck in the new job!
Its not really a dinosaur, its much like a fossil
Cough. Cough. AMMT collects more hate mails than MQ.Can you say ...... We want our money back!!!
Thanks Dinosaur, I Do Understand
Thank you for taking the time to post your well-thought out message and I completely understand why you do want to keep the work on your own shores. I do indeed think you have a point about the "making the next buck" and I think you are right your specialists and physicians do see us as a cheap source of labour. The very fact that I get more per line in my country is glaringly obvious - I am almost tempted to send some of my work offshore. So, maybe we MTs of the world should unite for a better rate of pay all round and lets work together. I know it's late there and you should be sleeping, I look forward to continuing this debate.

help with dinosaur tapes

I just got an account who is in the process of switching from the old dinosaur tapes to digital.  They want me to help them get caught up - 100+ tape backlog.  Trouble is, they are poor quality, scratchy/crackly sounding tapes and I am having mucho trouble with them.  I tried playing them into my phone system thinking I would have more control through my c-phone, but that actually made it worse.  I wonder if there is any way to somehow transfer them to digital so I can put them in my FTP software???????  Any suggestions out there anywhere?

Thanks so much.......

You're always thinking, Dinosaur! Thanks for the ideas! nm

It's better sound for one thing. C-phones are just old dinosaur technology.

One is misspelled, one is not. (sm)
TISSEEL® KIT VH Baxter Fibrin Sealant.

The wrong spelling was published in some resources early on, and caused a lot of confusion. The above is correct.
Unless you have never misspelled a word, then
Everyone in entitled to misspell a word on a forum! Chill out and get some compassion! OCD much?
another misspelled word!
"Incidentally" (Sorry!, I guess I was all "riled up" while typing about this subject!)
I think when you do editing the misspelled
words stand out like a sore thumb. I see them everywhere, from ads to television news programs. I have seen then in ads for newspaper, a furrier in Alaska had misspelling in a book advertising their furs, found at cleaners, everywhere. Sorry but my eyes are drawn immediately to a word like this and besides, like I said, if you have again you would not want that in a typed report- QA might be watching. I read Craig's List here in my town and if you get this, make notice of all the words in there. I read 1 the other day and wondered if child had written, that is how bad it was.
Ack, misspelled HIPAA!
I really do know how to spell HIPAA correctly, except when I'm being an airhead, sheesh!
mindshit (oops, misspelled)
oh, that is so, so disgusting -- a dime a dozen -- then how come they have MTs quitting after a week when they realize what kind of crap they're going to have to do and the pathetic compensaion that they're going to get for it!!
uhmm...you misspelled it..."bologna" lol
!
Probably because I'm an MT and I don't like to see consistently misspelled words.
Perhaps they don't bother you. I pity your employers.
Misspelled words, punctuation
I would love to be an Editor some day, love reading the typos in the newspapers, etc.   However, I nor anyone else is perfect and we all have our days.  On the other hand it depends on what you are accustomed to.  I have typed radiology periodically and on one account told to use punctuation where needed and another account that I worked clinic in-house radiology was told by the radiologists not to use punctuation unless they told us to because it could change the meaning of the sentence.  So, I obliged and no longer use punctuation unless it is dictated to me.   Unless I hear differently I will continue to do as I am told.
It is JCAHO. The most misspelled acronym in medicine! nm
