I watch it sometimes -- I work evenings and it...sm

In Reply to: Anyone watch "Inked"? I'm not sure exactly what the point of it is... - RadGuy

repeats here in CA at about 3 a.m., so it's something to watch! But, as a former MQ'r, with plenty of friends still working there, I definitely think that a show MQ Corporate in NJ would most definitely be a reality show!

I'm sure that inked is interesting to some people. I did get a real kick out of the night that one of the tattoo artists was married by an Elvis impersonator. One of the owners of the parlor, both of whom, you have to admit, look a little different, said that the wedding was crazy and something he had to watch, like a traffic accident! I felt that way about watching the reality show with the rock star (I just drew a complete blank here), it was like a bad accident and I had to look! lol...

I seem to watch a lot of reality between 1 and 5 a.m., but, of course, enjoy the medical ones the most. Sometimes I go upstairs to bed and leave my husband asleep on the couch and when he comes upstairs he tells me that he hates waking up and seeing someone bleeding all over the place on television!

Anyway, here is my vote for MQ Reality!

I did that for a while; if possible, don't work 2 evenings in a row at the 2nd job. nm

I work evenings throughout the week
so I have no plans on adding weekends to my schedule. Times are tough but I would never see my family. I am starting to pick up some overtime on the weekends here and there if my schedule is open but I'm afraid to commit to anything more and lose my weekends altogether. I hear having weekends off are less and less common.
I work afternoon/evenings and 1 day wkend
but that is ok with me as my home situation fits that. I am sure there are places that have days but it seems like most places are going for the 1 day per weekend work situation.
Have Part Time Flexible Work in the evenings available, have emailed you. nm
.
Do you watch TV while you work? nm

I don't watch often because of work, but

now that Rosie is joining it will be even LESS OFTEN. And if Elisabeth leaves I won't even bother watching at all. I have to wonder if Elisabeth doesn't like the decision to bring Rosie on. Can't help but feel that Rosie is going to "take over", especially on the days that Barbara is not among them.

Watch/listen to TV while you work?
I have an MT friend who's an excellent transcriptionist. Her office setup at home includes a small TV stationed near her desk. She is able to watch and listen to the TV while she transcribes -- yes, her quality is great.

I tried that with a small TV on routine reports. Was able to glance at it periodically, but it had to be muted.

Anybody else have a TV near their workstation?

I'm all about anything that can keep me in the chair and help squeak a few more lines out per pay period.

Anyone ever work for a scant that has NO HELP in the office and is always last minute? Watch out fo

I have been helping out an attorney for the last 5 or 6 months because medical wasn't as busy around here, I haven't done this kind of work in quite a while.

The first time it took him 3 months to pay the bill, it was only about $300.  Now this time it's almost $800 and he hasn't paid it.  It has been 2 months and counting so I cut him off until he pays it.

He started leaving last minute stuff on my machine all the time and leaving messages that it had to get done right away, yada, yada, yada....  Now I'm screwed because he hasn't paid the bill.  I finally put new ID numbers into the dictation system so he couldn't dictate on it.  There are people out there who can't afford office staff and won't pay you either !!

It is difficult to work at home and watch young children.
Don't take that as a slam because I had to do it, too. I got up before they did and worked for an hour or two, worked during their afternoon naps, worked after they went to bed at night, and worked a little bit in the morning while they were playing or watching Blues Clues. It wasn't fulltime, but it felt like I was chained to my computer desk from the moment I got up to the moment I went to bed.

I actually blockaded my kids in the living room with me using big plastic toyboxes or baby gates while I worked so they wouldn't escape. Lock the doors to the house and put cowbells on them so you can hear if they try to escape. If not cowbells, use those little battery operated buzzers that go off when the connection is broken. Don't wear headphones but listen through the speakers. Pay a neighborhood 'tween or older sibling $1 or more an hour to entertain the young kids after school while you're there. No job is worth the risk of your child getting into something tragic.

I was fortunate in that my kids were good about entertaining themselves for short periods of time, but certainly not for an 8-hour shift all at once. My niece and nephew are nothing like that. If they don't have your full attention, they fight and get into things. One time while I was babysitting them, I was making dinner in the kitchen. My 3 y.o. niece managed to untape the knob and turn off our water heater, drop the cordless phone into the toilet, and climb out the dog door into subzero weather in less than 5 minutes. She's still a holy terror 3 years later, but I refuse to babysit her any more.
working evenings
Thank goodness I have no set schedule.  I will still pull my work first thing in the AM so I cna be sure to get work, as I pull from a pool.  As long as my work is handed in by 10am the next morning, I am good.  I will probably start doing work in the evening after dinner, when the hubby is home, and work til about midnight/1am.  Then I can go to sleep til the kids wake me.  Thats me plan :)
I didnt ask for ANYTHING. Merry Christmas and watch your back when u work for a national.
thats MY point.
I spent over 2 evenings testing

Filling out their interview questions, answering questions about my computer, and it would be just my luck they would either send an e-mail in just four  words, "we can't use you" or not send one at all.  That would just bite.

The test was not really difficult just that I have no control over it, I cannot speed it up, slow it down.  I kept stomping the floor looking for my nonexistant foot pedal. LOL.  I am afraid there might be something I missed on the test.

Here I wanted to apply for a few more companies to see if one could offer me a better deal than another, but I bet I will have to go through the same thing, and I am not real sure I want the job.  What if they offer too low of pay?  What if their line quote is too high?

That is my vent.  whew.!!!!  I am going to bed.

LOVE ER!!! I watch the re-runs every day, and watch the new ones on Thursday night!!

Will have to watch for it
half the time I don't pay attention
I don't watch TV much, but I certainly
would never watch anything about Bobby Brown.  I don't know what it is with these people who think anyone cares about their lives.  They are just trying to feed their already overinflated egos.
I don't get to watch TV any more.
Chained to my desk and overstressed.  I can't wait for summer to be over.  Plus, I got up sick this morning.
Me too! Watch all of them...
as well as the Discovery Health Channel, Animal Planet, and Style Network. The man who narrates on many of the A&E shows, Bill Kurtis, has such as soothing voice that I watch it at night when I need to fall asleep! I believe he is also the producer of some of the shows.
We don't watch TV much at all any more.
I hate reality shows, talk shows, soaps, crime shows, graphic content, and all that garbage.  Even the evening sitcoms are all rated TV14 with excessive amounts of sex, alternative lifestyles, gender bashing, adult situations and language.  The rest of the world can watch whatever trash they want to, but I'm not inviting it into my home in front of my children.  I'm not prejudiced either, but I don't agree with how rude sitcom families are.  The kids are all mouthy brats, the wife bashes the husband or vice versa.  It's not an accurate portrayal of true family life.
watch out
Read the Terms and Conditions of the different unlimited plans carefully.  Most will start monitoring you after 5000 minutes a month and some specifically forbid it for MT (even the small business plans).  The only thing I have found that doesn't have specific minute limitations is VoIP.
i DID WATCH IT

I was just curious how the nonskaters were going to do.  It was fun to watch.   I don't think it is going to be as big as dancing with the stars.  I don't watch that reality show anyway.

Does anyone watch Y&R? sm

For those who do, what do you think about Nick and Phyllis, and Victoria and Brad...

First off, didn't Jack (Phyllis' husband) used to be Nick's stepdad?

And didn't Brad (Victoria's fiance) used to be married or engaged to her mom?

I'm sorry, I know it's a soap and all, but that is just sick! I just started watching it again after about 4-5 years, and it's funny how little things have actually changed....

Or like looking at your watch and then having to look again
LOL
no, but I do watch CMT.....nm

watch what you say here
I put a similar criticism on this board recently and was told that if I had a complaint to take it to the admin, and not place it on board. Negitivity was cited. talk about censorship!
I did not watch. I won't watch again now that
are boring, IMO. Taylor is no AI, if you ask me, but he'll end up winning because for some odd reason, everyone likes this guy (who I heard is a real jerk in person from someone who actually met him). I've seen people at our local karaoke night who can sing better than he can and, as an added bonus, they don't look like they are having seizures while they sing.

I'm actually glad Chris got sent home and out from under the AI curse. Aside from Kelly Clarkson, the only one America got right, the winners don't seem to go on to do a whole lot of anything. I mean, come on! Ruben and Fantasia who? Bo's at the top of the charts, Clay went on to have a couple of hits, and where are the actual AI winners?
We should watch for any
call-in shows that have senators or congressmen on them. Wouldn't that be great to be able to ask them questions about why the American public is being ignored on the issue of offshoring. I'm not good on the fly, so I'd have to have so questions thought out and written down to sound at all intelligent, LOL. I would try to be very specific so they couldn't weasel out of the question.
I mean Watch out (not what)
nm
What you should watch for
are companies that want you to buy special software or equipment from them at significant expense so that they can train you with the promise that as soon as you are up to par, you will be hired. Odds are, you will never be "up to par" and will never be paid for your work while they get those reports done for free.

I had a job before that would watch you - sm
on via IM. I figured out how to have it on, but have it so they could not watch me (this was a few years ago, before you could set yourself up as invisible if you wanted to be). I hated the feeling that they were hovering over my shoulder during my set hours (yes I was an employee), and was used to being an IC. They were pretty good about it and did not hassle you but you had to be on IM while working so they could easily get in touch with you. I forgot a lot to turn it on....I eventually left them and now have an IC job that uses IM too, but I dont' have the same feeling with them, and I only use it really to talk to another MT who works on the same account as I do. The MTSO leaves me alone for the most part and that makes me happy.
Better Watch it!!!
My husband was in your same shoes 10 years ago... Very healthy, former marathon runner, never had insurance in his life...When we met, I said,"No way." His policy was free where he worked so he got it (BCBS)... When in May of 2003 he found a lump..turned out to be lymhoma... When I saw the first bill the hospital sent, I almost died...$125,000... But it was covered by BCBS.. all we paid was the out of pocket max for the year... Yes insurance is definitely worth it.....

But you sure have to watch your back.
l
Just watch reruns to get the fix. I already have
Also another similar kind of dark humor is on Nip/Tuck but I never seem to find it!
Well, I did watch it last night
I thought sure it was going to be Claire.   Can't imagine what they could do for the finale.  They've already done it all.  I hope they don't kill anyone else off.  Nate sure did leave a mess, like you say.  Makes you think about yourself and not wanting to leave such a mess when you go yourself.  Maybe I'm just being maudlin, huh?  Anyway can't wait for next week.  Really got kinda nervous, though watching Brenda and Billy.  Glad it was just a dream - whew!
No, ALL little boys don't do that. Watch your
Yes, I have a son.
WATCH YOUR BACK
Trust me, if you are getting paid 18 cents per line, you are sticking out like a sore thumb! That immediately puts you under a microscope at some point. I have been in business many years and if you are an exception to the rule, surely you are marked. THIS IS NOT A NEGATIVE POST. You must keep in mind the climate of the healthcare industry right now as a whole, your current CEO and CFO of the hospital - are they new, have they been there long? When does their contract come up for renewal? A change of hands in administration is all it takes to knock out any security you might feel. A change in the Medical Records department could change things quickly also. My advice, if I may? Be creative - work your 18 cents a line to keep the client interested. Offer perks, maybe some % discount for quick payment, or sosmething for loyalty, some type of support added to your services such as cumulative logs of info data per month for their review - not hard to do in Microsoft Office programs. I've been through many, many situations with hospitals. Good for you for getting that much per line. I'm always happy to hear of any one's success and my prayers that you continue as such for a long time.
Watch your mail........
Try some saline spray. A doc one time told me to try this. He did this 'cause he would get so sick with some of the perfume on mailings....those dept store inserts.
I don't usually watch TV, but Christmas

night I saw part of Grey's Anatomy and I loved it.    Can someone fill me in on what is or was going on with the black doctor and the Asian-looking doctor?

I used to watch ER years ago, then it was Chicago Hope.  ER now isn't what it used to be.  Of course before all these shows there was Emergency.

Watch those expansions for BM
She had a large, foul-smelling black male overnight with massive bleeding.
HBO is the only reason I watch TV..LOL..nm

DH is a HUGE fan! I watch only for him.

Does anyone else still love to watch ER?
I know a lot of people who say they don't like it anymore with Green, Ross and the other oldies gone.  I still think it is just as good.  It is the only show I have watched that new characters just seem to flow in so smoothly.  I watched it from the very beginning and still never miss an episode.
I don't watch it anymore, but...
watched it today and bawled like I did the first time when Dr. Green's father died and then bawled all over again when Carol and Doug were reunited.
I don't even watch anymore
I used to be a huge Idol fan; however, this season they have lost me. The show is boring and does not keep my attention. I am pulling for Chris to win, even though I don't watch because I live in Greensboro, NC and he is from McLeansville. I went to high school in McLeansville and knew his family. He is a really great guy and I think he is wonderfully talented. I hear updates on the radio and see them on the local news every now and then and that is enough for me. I still think the best season by far was the very first one when Kelly Clarkson won. I am a huge fan of hers and she has been the most successful yet. We shall see what happens with the rest of them.
I don't watch the show, but I saw it on CNN
Sometimes I "watch" TV while I work (sound down). I happened to glance at the TV when they were replaying that clip. That kid's expression was totally awesome... better than Christmas morning!
I don't have time to watch much tv
I spend most of my time working to pay my bills. Tv does not come on until I am done...no matter what that time is, or if it is already too late, i just go to bed.
I don't think I can watch it with Rosie
on there. If Elizabeth leaves, too, you've got the two people with some sort of class gone...and replaced with Rosie? Yuck. Nothing at all like Meredith..too much of a loudmouth. If Gayle King, Oprah's friend, joined up, that might help a little...but a little bit of Rosies goes a loooooong way.
Wow. I am definitely going to watch that show! NM
x
I saw ads for that, I plan to watch it, what
they should also show is how affects those of us here who lose our jobs. I remember seeing Bush on TV when he went to India and he was saying that yes it is sad when an American loses their job and went on to talk about the greater good of the global economy and it really ticked me off.
watch DOG WHISPERER on
National Geographic channel on Fridays, it's a great show
My DH can't stand to watch these on TV with me, either, LOL
I worked in the OR for over 4 years, so typing the reports or watching procedures on TV is easy for me. Have you ever seen a nose job or tooth extraction? Kind of brutal how they take a hammer and chisel and just wham away, LOL.
I know, I still can't watch any of his programs
yet. He was so ALIVE it just seems unreal that he isn't here anymore :( My heart goes out for Terri and the kids.
