IMO, you need to quit and find another company.

We experienced MTs need to refuse to accept that kind of paycut to work on ASR, which in most cases requires just as much time and effort, if not more.

I am extremely curious as to what new hires do when they find out they have not work. Do they quit,
do they get transferred, what happens to them.
My advice: Regroup. Find a small cave, cheap, take the kids, get a stable job (1), quit trying to

need to stabilize.

Medical transcription is not a "living" - it is a sideline anymore, unless you can find a doctors office or hospital where you can count on an income and count on medical insurance.

Leave the BF - they are dead weight.  They wear you out and rarely help you find any solid footing.  If your's did you wouldn't be here asking for advice.

I used to think I need to be married - then I began to ask myself:  WHY AM I MORE BROKE AND MORE TIRED WITH A HUSBAND?

There were more hours in the day and more money in the bank when I was on my own with my children.  We may not have had fancy things but we were happy because their mom was happy - ME.

Again, don't use 3 PT/transcription jobs or even 1 FT and some PTs to say you are making it.  Either bring your budget down to living on the 1 FT and let the PT be the discretionary income (extra for savings, emergencies, etc), or leave transcription entirely.  MTing is a losing proposition at this time.  Unless of course, like I say, you are in a stable place like a hospital.  And don't COUNT on the PT to carry you through - these nationals and side jobs are playing fast and loose with paying people or providing any security at all.

GOOD LUCK.

The only way I got off 3rd shift was to quit the company nm

That happened to me and I quit and found another company. sm
The name of the game is money. If I can't make any money, I will find a company where I can.

I have decided to quit my job. I hate this company.
It's worse than ANYWHERE I have ever worked before.  The problem is that I don't have another job yet.  However, I know I can easily find another job.  I just don't know if I should hang on to do the responsible thing and find another job first. ~ OR ~ If I should take some time off for Christmas with the kids instead of busting my chops for this company when I know I'm not going to stay anyway.  I wonder if they give Christmas presents or bonuses.  LOL  I can take my $7 an hour from their lousy ESLs and crummy platform and go buy lottery tickets and a bottle of cheap wine!  Hooey!  McDonald's, here I come!!!!
I can't believe this. I just quit a good company and went BACK to MQ and now this? Oh, Lord! nm
nm
QUESTION: Why are you still there? Quit whining and go to a different company. If you stay there,
pp
Couldn't - really dislike that platform. Quit the company that uses it. Could not get a decent l
went from 385 lines an hour to 200 lines an hour tops on Bayscribe.

I could not adapt - so quit. Much happier now, back to having my own accounts.
Find a better company

I think it's funny that you would expect to see the company's line count charge for the customer.  Do you think every business lets their employees see what they charge the consumer?  Anyway, sure we should have accurate line counts.  Guess what?  if you work somewhere that isn't giving you one, leave.  I did.  When I worked at Spheris, I could type all day and never reach my goal.  EVER.  And I was typing 200 min of dictation at my other job and doing 18,000 to 20,000 lines a pay.  I knew something was not right.  So I left and found a new job.  Now I work for another national.  I have no problems, NONE with my line count.  As a matter of fact, I find it easier to get my goal there than ever before.

We don't have to unionize to get what we want, we just need to keep looking for a better job.  There are some out there.  Especially if you don't go into it looking for something perfect.  There are problems on any job in any career.

Any company you have to pay to find you a job
is probably a scam.
If this is the company I think it is you won't find better.

I have interviewed, tested, and have been offered positions with at least a dozen companies in the last 2 years and none of them had anything better to offer.

The paragraph issue is really a non-issue to me because over a period of a day it isn't going to make enough difference in my line count to buy a cup of coffee.  I hate long reports too for the most part, it really depends on the dictator.   I try to make a game out of it.  I take a deep breath and just start typing and it seems to really make it go faster.  After I finish a report I might allow myself to get up and have a drink, read the newspaper, or surf the net for 5 minutes.   Since I download my work I can for the most part decide what order to do the reports in.  If I have a couple of long ones and a couple of short ones, I'll alternate them.   If TAT is close I'll just type them in order though.   When I get tired I get up and move around even if it is just to put a load of laundry on.  When all else fails I set the alarm and take a 15 minute nap and go back at it.   You can ask your supervisor, or the one assigning work, if you could have a different mix.

It sounds like you are just stuck in a rut more than anything.

If you do decide to look elsewhere I suggest trying to work the new job part-time for a couple of weeks before giving notice, so you can see if you've made the right decision.   Like I said, if this is the same company I work for in FL you won't find anything better.

Could you all help me find a company that does not need
I am a soon to be displaced acute care MT as the account I transcribe on has moved on to another company.  I would really appreciate any input about the companies you work for that do not need cable or DSL and how well you like where you are, etc.  Thank you in advance for your time.
You can if you find the right company (sm)
certainly more consistent than selling on ebay. It is also good for a single mom because you don't have to spend money on childcare and you are home when your child(ren) are out of school. I say keep selling on ebay and take the MT course too!
find a new company
I have 10 years' experience, I make 10 cents per line.  I make about 3500.00 a month before taxes.  You could do much better somewhere else.
Where would you find a company...sm
paying 10 cpl when they're all trying to get by with 6-7 cpl?  When I started with the Nationals about 4 or 5 years ago, the going rate was 8 for novices, 8.5 for experienced and 9 for acute care or 3rd shift. but the greedy MTSOs are cutting our pay to the bare bone,  year to year, penny by penny.  So at this rate, in about 5 more years, we can expect to make 1 to 2 cpl.  When will it stop?  When we make it stop.  I know we can't all go on a collective strike and some of us need their jobs since they have no other recourse.  And the Suits know it.  Woul any other industry, even dishwasher or floor cleaner, cope with this type of abuse??  The answer is in us.  They need us more than we need them
Keep looking, but find a smaller company.

The smaller ones have better accounts, useful macros and expansions, decent line rates, nice supervisors/owners, but probably IC with no benefits.  I don't care about that as long as I can crank out the lines in a small amount of time.

Find another company, SoftScript is
They lie, steal lines, expect you to work 24/7, and will call you on your weekend and beg you to work. You will have no life. They also have 97%+ ESL.
You are not going to find a good company
didn't pay. Well, SS will work you to death and with the ESL's you will have to work 24/7 just to make enough to buy 10 gallons of gas. Does this tell you anything?
You just need to find a company hiring
x
you might find more info through the company board here.
or did you try that? I'm not awake, tring to help, tho.

I find it unlikely this company will be in business much longer...
that is just horrible.
It may be worthwhile IF you can actually find a company now that pays extra for it -
I let mine drop after 6 years. It got to be very costly keeping up with the continuing education credits because for me it meant nearly always having to fly some place to get them, hotel, food, etc. My 2 cents...
Googled the company and could find no website for it. Weird.
,,
If you search the posts, I think the Company board, you will find that the monies paid to AAMT

for CMT/RMT cerifications are being used to offer "India" rates to workers in India to test for their CMT/RMT cerifications. I REFUSE TO BELONG TO SAID ORGANIZATION AND I WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE MY HARD-EARNED FUNDS TO HELPING INDIANS GET CREDENTIALED.

I quit once for 3 years, but then started again. (Quit cold turkey when I did)

I quit two months ago. I tried to quit for over a year, but I just had to be ready.
I tried the patch, NRT gum, Zyban, everything. One morning, I woke up and just quit cold turkey. There are some good online support groups out there that can help you when you're ready.
ALSO IF THEY WERE GOING TO QUIT SE, THEY WOULD QUIT ADVERTISING TO HIRE SE
And I have seen a new ad in the magazine Advance that has a sign on bonus for SE's, maybe just better pay, let's think positive!!
Do NOT quit MT yet! & dont quit looking.Try her

The company cutting cpl, the company stopping paying for headers

Good of the company? As IC, I am my own company. Not my problem if she has problems as long as I do
:P
Accepted a job with a new company, gave two weeks notice to my old company..

Old company, let me go before two weeks was up.  New company, said they were having trouble getting me set up and my equipment ready, but they would pay me while I waited.  It's been a month, still no check from new company even though I was told it was "in the mail."  I have no income and am at a loss.

I have a signed offer letter from the new company, contracts, etc.  I applied for unemployment, but old company is saying I quit and technically I am currently employed with the new company!  New company is not returning calls or answering email.

What should I do!?!?!?!

I started sending my resume out today, but the process of getting a new job will take at least two weeks and I need money now to catch up on what I'm behind!

TC quit
Yerica, LOL..No such luck.  Peggy quit, so did Miranda who worked in the digital room.  They both went to FutureNet, same place April went last November.  Jessie from the digital room is gone too..
Quit then if it's really that bad for you. sm
I don't like the e-mails either but you need to take this up with Joann rather than coming here and screaming at everybody. If it doesn't pertain to you, then ignore it. Why you're so uptight about something that isn't addressed to you is crazy.
LOL....I'd have quit after 1!!!!
now mine just takes in live-in strays since he can't get married again, he's still married in a different state and can't find the wife to get the divorce. IT's probably a good thing that he can't. He's be the one with 32 wives and still counting, some all at the same time. LOLOLOLOL
For those who want to quit
We need a MT smoker board any ideas???? Since we listen to what doctors say and know more than the average person (because we our brilliant people) we need a support group..
Here is how I quit MQ.
I took another FT job. Did not say a word to MQ. Just simply went about working for new job. I was not able to type at all for MQ. They did not call me. After about three months, I finally was contacted. Told them I had to take another job and that after eight hours with it, I was too tired to type for them. They asked me to go PT and I said I would try. Waited another three months and could not meet PT criteria (did not actually type a thing but wanted to see if FT job would work age - it was). After another 3 months, I called them and told them I would be shipping their things back. End of story. Of course, I doubt if I could ever go back there.

Sometimes in life you get what you give.
quit being mean
quit it!!!
Quit, got that right....sm
I quit two positions on the FIRST day because I could see that it was going to be impossible to get the production I want/need with the system as they were training me. No sense wasting my time or theirs...just got outta there.
I would not quit what I am now doing.
I just want more radiology work.  I do basic 4 and radiology with radiology being a 1/3 of my work.  I would like to keep the rad work but replace basic four with more rad work elsewhere.
yup, das y i quit

I quit!
Could you tell me the name of the company? I just started with a company, and I honestly don't think I will EVER be able to make the line count .... 11,000. Have never made that many lines. Am a good MT but takes time to do short reports, proof, etc. Even a short report can take awhile depending on extra things doctor wants you to do, like send a cc to different people, do this, do that, etc. By the time I proof the report, it could easily take 15 minutes or more. Takes time to proof and to try and find a doctor's name, etc., esp. in a big hospital.
I quit!
Just curious...how long were you on-board? I think I know the place.
i quit
I smoked up to a pack a day.  I quit 20+ years ago and never regretted it.  It was tough but I first figured out why I smoked (as a reward) and then started replacing the reward cigarette with something else - food, a small gift for myself, whatever... I had it licked in a few weeks but then slipped over the New Year's weekend.  I quit again and that was for good.  All the women in my family quit as well!  It was a very liberating experience.
Quit, yes...sm
I have always wanted to be able to travel the country and help out with Habitat for Humanity and other such organizations to help those who really need it. There are millions of poor people here who need the help and we should all give something back.  If it was a substantial amount (like a couple of million or more) I would help my siblings pay off homes, etc., volunteer, and travel.
Quit then and go somewhere else
Either keep up with the technology changes, do your work or quit. Just quit whining.  These changes are here, work with them.  And yes, to me it is good money.   Got two new accounts the past 6 weeks, good money, older doctors that will stay with me for the last ten years I plan on working as they don't like the EMR's, internet or whatever and just want to dictate and have someone type up the chart notes/OP notes/letters and be done with it.  My one larger account will bring in over $400 per week for 4 days of dictation.  One dermatology doctor, lots of Op notes and consults -- good lines, repetitive typing and good pay.   So either do something about your job situation or income to make it what you want or find another line of work.
Anyone quit due to ASR?
I'm really worried about it.  I think it's just going to cut my pay in half or maybe even worse.
I'd quit in a second
What I would probably do is invest a lot of it, and get a part-time job doing something that I really loved. No way would I stay working as an MT full-time. Oh, and congratulations!
Quit..

My late payments were 2 weeks at first too, and then it got to be a month, and then very sporadically late and then finally after 10 years of this waiting and wondering, I quit.  I can't work like that.  I didn't know if I'd ever get paid this last time.  I think once they see that you'll tolerate it, then it continues to happen.
