In many states you can actually go through the whole process online.  Unemployment will pull up your earnings record and compare the numbers.  Probably any fool can see the drop in earnings.  Of course the employer is given the opportunity to appleal your filing, and they will undoubtedly say that your reduced earnings are your fault, not theirs for providing less work.
