My son did. I am ashamed to say that I didn't know how and I had to ask my teenager to do it.

dilemma with teenager
I have a 14-year-old daughter who is on an athletic team that practices after school every day. We live in a rural area and it is a 15 mile round trip to pick her up. A neighbor boy who just got his license a week ago has offered to bring her home as he goes right by our house. We have had a rule that she is not allowed to ride with boys in a car alone yet but with the price of gas, I'm wondering if I should rescind that rule. I don't really know the boy well so I'm uneasy about it. Any thoughts on this?
dilema with teenager
I wouldn't let her!!

In some states it is illegal for a new teenager driver to drive for the first six months with anybody but licensed over 18 family members. Check your new driver rules in your state.
Teenager daughters
Thank you Terri for your encouragement. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind.
Teenager troubles.
Boy, do I know what you're going through. Daughter is talented, intelligent and athletic.  We have always been strict but she is allowed so many extra activities that we provide the opportunity for her to do.  Everything going for her and still tries to defy us.  She is down to no phone, no car and go nowhere without us.
Please. You sound like a teenager. LOL
Like OP suggests: Go live over there if you're upset about it and live with them and do all you can to increase their economy.

Teenager dress problems

My oldest graduated last year and started dressing in black (mostly black t-shirts and jeans) in his junior year.  This drove my DH absolutely crazy and still does!  We never had any trouble with him in school either; good grades, part-time job, never ran with the wrong crowd, always called to keep in touch when he was out, etc., just like your daughter.  We let it go.  He never wanted any tattoos, collars or piercings (although he did buy a bracelet with the metal points once.  He never wore this to school however.)  The biggest problem we ever had was the kind of music he liked to listen to.  We did forbid him to buy certain types and bands after we listened to them, but he didn't argue.  He is now in college and is doing great.  His grades are high and he still checks in a few times a week just to "talk."

If I were you, I would let the clothing thing go, as long as it doesn't change into anything concerning.  Most teens need to express themselves somewhat and this really seems pretty innocent.  My DH and I are really pretty conservative.  We found that it is best to pick you battles. There are certainly a lot more horrific problems out there to be concerned about than dressing in black.  Your job is to just keep an eye on things and if you see any drastic changes in her (grades, personality, friends, etc), that is the time to step in.  She seems like a well rounded young lady with a good head on her shoulders.  You seem to have done an excellent job in raising her.  She will soon be a legal adult and you now have to start trusting her judgement.  I think she will be just fine!  Good luck!

Is there a teenager you can hire to take care (sm)
of the younger ones and tell the 10 year old that the sitter is just there to watch the younger ones and hang out with him/her?
Thankfully in Georgia it's unlawful for a teenager to....sm
have anyone in the car with them other than an immediate relative for the first 6 months they have their license.   Other than that  there is no way I'd put my child into the car of basically a stranger since you don't know this boy well.  While all may be innocent at first you never know when it might turn otherwise.
I'm wondering when it will start. I'm 45, still as regular as a teenager, nary
s
They're not supposed to touch my computer ever, but my teenager is sneaky!
I just happened to notice just now that it happened after I had transcribed dictation file through the TransNet Player and and then I got a VR report as my next one and the wave volume was down again as soon as I got into the VR report.  Is there a difference in the sound files?
Huh? and you're not ashamed
I have gotten nothing but leftover garbage today thanks to people who think like you. Have you ever heard of karma? Don't you think I have to earn a living too? I guess the difference is I don't believe in screwing over my fellow MTs to do it.
Do not ever be ashamed of who you are.
or where you live, what you drive, or any other outward trapping of society.

The only people who have cause to be ashamed are those who belittle others for whatever reason; they are bigots and all bigots require only that they can make themselves appear (to themselves and others like them) to be better than they are by tearing down the lives of others. Quality has nothing to do with outside show, it has only to do with inner worth.

Bigots will always be among us. Pity them, they will never understand what quality - "class" - really is. They know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
That's ashamed...
I know I have many clinics try to diddle me town line wise, but I just refuse to be their little slave girl. They either want a good job done or they don't, and if they want a good job done, they're going to pay for it, or they can go find some little mamma willing to do it for nine or ten cents a line and then sit there with the jaws hanging down to their fannies as they read their shotty transcripts.
Ashamed
I am so ashamed to have this MT be one of my colleagues, not that I work at the same company, but just that we are both MTs. You know life is too short to be doing a job that you do not enjoy. I completely agree with the poster who said that most of would just be happy to get a raise! I work for one small MTSO, and have 1 doctor, and doe not get paid very much. BUT, this dictator is the same every day and I have many shortcuts set up for this dictator and so I make a more than decent amount per hour. What I would not give to have the same dictator every day and get a raise! I am so sorry that this MT did this to you and to the owner of you company. Sometimes people are like children give them an inch and they will take a mile. I hope the owner of the company talks with this MT and backs you up. If she does not want her job I would be interested in finding out more about this having the same dictator every day and working for a company that gives raises!!
Don't be ashamed...

With kids it's hard to have a savings account.  It seems all my hubs and I do is work, work, and work and then when we do get a vacation, we tend to use what should be in savings for "fun money."  I'm sorry but life is way too short.

I have a kid in braces and another one that wears glasses.  Copays just went up majorly.  We have Aetna, and there are deductibles out the ying-yang.  Hope and pray none of us are majorly ill, we'd be done for.

I could find a job very, very fast but I'd probably slave for minimum wage since experience doesn't count in this profession even though they claim you must have 1-3 years before they hire.  I have 19 and make the same as someone with 2 years of experience.  Go figure!!

Thank goodness for my own accounts to stay afloat and thankfully I am here when the kids get home from school and can grocery shop when it's not busy.  I save money by not buying fancy clothes for work but do treat myself to the hair salon (need a little something once in a while).

Don't be ashamed; we have no savings either...  Oh well...  Hopefully, the kids will get scholarships for college and if not, then I guess we'll just finance that too or they'll have to work their through and appreciate it more in the long run if they have to earn it the hard way like I did.  No silver spoon here and no handouts either.

We work hard.  No, we would not be hurting if we lost one paycheck, but 2 or 3, most definitely would leave us behind in our bills.

Ah, go ahead...don't be ashamed...

No one will laugh.  And, most likely no one will slam you for it either.  There are only a few really nasty, jealous people here.

LOL!!!! I have no reason to be ashamed
There are consequences for every choice. Not preparing for the consequences of choices made and expecting to be bailed out of those consequences constitutes the typical welfare mentality. A choice to live in a disaster-prone area without making adequate preparations for disaster is a choice that will have predictable consequences. Those who embrace the welfare mentality immediately blame others for the consequences of their failure to plan ahead and demands that others bear the cost and the responsibility for salvaging them from the results of their own choices. The welfare mentality is not the exclusive province of welfare recipients. Trust me, I will never seek or expect help from you or anyone else. I would far rather rely on my own preparation and resources. Besides, whiners have nothing I need.
Whatever. Nothing to hurt and I'm not ashamed.

I'm a little ashamed to say....just I enjoy going to
I know this isn't as exciting as the other posters, but honestly...just going to the beach and relaxing is great for me!! :>
You shouldn't be ashamed..

So what if it's not the South of France.  As long as you had a good time and enjoyed yourself, that's what it's all about!

I have done a lot of traveling, and I can tell you the best vacation that goes down in my memory book is going to Sanibel Island, Florida - surf fishing, catching fish - swimming in the ocean - and kicking back wtih my honey with a Mai Tai.  We sent out to dinner at lot at some really nice restaurants there, but the best was steaks on the grill the resort had available there and a great bottle of vino.

I hope you get to Myrtle Beach again and enjoy yourself.

(High Five To Ya')

I'm sure your grandparents would be ashamed of you
maybe that's why you hate successful whites so much - you're jealous
sorry..ashamed to "say"...not same..duh lol
xx
I'm ashamed to say I don't know how to copy to a floppy. Can you
nm
No on is an idiot and you should be ashamed of yourself for calling anyone that. nm
x
1984. I was in 4th grade. I'm 32 and not ashamed to say!!
Good for you! Every vote counts!
Myrtle Beach! Nothing to be ashamed of! I would rather go there!!!nm
xx
Sounds like you are depressed....Nothing to be ashamed about.
I recommend you talk to your physician and maybe get in some therapy sessions, not necessarily medication, but get to the root of how you can assess where you are overwhelmed and what steps you can take to take control. This site is actually a great site, on occasion you will find some nastiness, but overall there are some wonderful women who are very supportive in situations like these.

I was diagnosed last year with depression and anxiety and although I was on meds, I think the therapy was major reason for my successful outcome. I learned why my life is so unorganized and stressful and I learned some very helpful tools to use on a dialy basis when confronted with these issues.

One thing I found to be helpful for myself is I started to take my shower before I started work, even put on makeup. It really does change how you feel about yourself. I recommend you start there.

Good Luck!
I am almost ashamed to same I am from the same state as these freaks...
They absolutely sicken me. They are a radical CHURCH group believe it or not that protest funerals all over the U.S. on the basis that for one they love the publicity..and their "grounds" for protesting funerals is that the people who are dead are dead because it's God's punishment to the world for society's and the military's acceptance of gays. That's it. I mean come on...I don't care what your position is on gays, I cannot fathom the idea that they feel it's ok to stand outside the funeral of a soldier killed in Iraq or now these poor innocent children....to hold up disgusting hate signs with such things as "911 is God's gift to gays"..and they truly believe these people deserve to die because of this. It's total INSANITY to say the least. They are absolutely disgusting.
My kiddos start school next Wed and I'm not ashamed to say it will be a relief. My teenaged son

gives me hourly updates on his boredom every single day.  Now, my daughter is starting kindergarten this year and I will be sad probably the first week because she's my baby - my last baby - but she is sooooo ready for school.  She just can't wait.  Maybe I should be the one with hurt feelings since she can't way to leave me!

I highly doubt my son's feelings are hurt when I say "Just think, you won't be bored when school starts."

Kind of ashamed to admit I threw daughter's card away
I know some will call me petty. We haven't ever had the best relationship because she has been a difficult kid since grade school. Just really, really hard to deal with and nasty much of the time. I keep trying and trying and trying and trying. I help her out financially when I can, watch the baby every day while I'm trying to work, too.  I had tears picking out a card for her, and I put some money in there with a little note to treat herself. Yes, I took the money out and tossed the card. I know it sounds harsh, but I feel like I keep putting forth the effort and barely get a thank you in return. Instead, I get a "what's your problem?" Now my son..I can deal with. At least he treats me with some kindness and he tries.
Well of course we know that now. Back then we didn't because he didn't allow unfettered access.
c
right we children didn't tattle to the administrator did we. BTW, didn't you think we were &#
because some half-witted idiot said everyone was jealous because some other anonymous poster said they were going to be a doctor. Didn't they call it doctor envy. Oh yeah, that was all about you wasn't it busy-body MT. You with your degree and premed but yet you still post here and acuse others of jealously. I dunno but you and dano seem so close, I can't put my finger on it but I would say you could be computer clones. Jealous indeed. Children indeed. I think you are blowing your covers) dano and busy body MT. This whole "jealously" thing makes me think that you may be one and the same poster.
I didn't go into labor until 2.5 weeks later, so it didn't work. Sorry!...nm
x
sorry I didn't have time to thank you, but I didn't forget!!

Didn't you tell me?!?!? No, Liza, you didn't tell me. Hooray for you! lol
x
Didn't know you could do that...
I didn't know you could pick and choose, thought you just went with what came onto your computer.
Didn't know
How come Transcend isnt allowed to post here?  Because of taking on new clients?  I dont understand what that means.  They don't offshore, right?
Wow. Didn't like that one bit.

I feel sorry for the employees.  I can't believe they were making that much inhouse!  I was only making $12.00 and had to answer phones, file, photocopy, greet patient's etc.  I left to do this and actually make a bit more (and saving tons on gasoline), but to be making $150.00 a day and have benefits?  That's gotta hurt.  My former employer "offered" benefits, but my health insurance was nearly $600 a month out of my pocket.  My husband insures us now for half that.  I can't imagine not having that.

I was offended by the part of the article that referred to at home transcriptionists making errors, etc.  I know for a fact that most big companies do not hire "newbies."  My poor niece was under the impression that all she had to do was take the MT course (don't remember the name, but it was a good one).  Even though she graduated early with high honors, she still can't find a job with a national. She found a few local accounts and is only making 5.5 cents per line.

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been doing this for 16 years and I found the "testing" for nationals frustrating!  I thought I failed miserably and was shocked when I was hired as my testing was 98% (2 of four dictators being fast talking ESLs and ER reports which I have never done and won't do again).

Ad in my paper today says:  "You too can work at home!  Become a Medical Transcriptionist!"  Seminar held at the holiday Inn and the ad gives the impression that anyone that can actually use a keyboard will be hired right off and make tons of money.

No way, tell me they didn't...sm
"they took out internet fees, insurance, etc."

Maybe I misunderstood the above. You don't mean your regular benefit deductions from a paycheck, do you? I can understand taking out taxes, but I'd raise holy heck about taking out benefit deductions. It certainly is not a regular payroll paycheck.

Along those same lines, I recently separated from a company that I worked for 2-1/2 months. When I first started, I had signed up for health insurance and the flexible spending account. You know, there's usually a 3-month waiting period before these benefits begin, and before they start taking out the deductions. Since I gave notice before the 3 months was up, I was shocked to see they began taking the deductions out on my last paycheck. I told the supervisor that I wanted that money back. They did make me wait for the next payroll, but I received that money back just today! It's worth a try!

2 cents, huh? As if you're not insulted already by the fact that they cheated you in the first place. The MTs should demand to know how they arrived at their amounts, and then be able to verify it.

I worked for them for 2 years and my line counts rarely matched theirs. Supervisors could not explain the discrepancy either. Two months after I quit, the news about the MT class-action lawsuit came out. Personally, I don't trust them.

Have a great time shopping on your unexpected money!!
I didn't have any out of the NE
yesterday either...the Warminster office.  Haven't checked yet today...almost afraid to!
No I didn't see
Scarborough Country last night.   This whole mess is so sad and government at all levels is a disgrace.  People quibbling over whether they are "refugees" or "evacuees."  How utterly ridiculous.  Not to mention the quibbling over those who deserve help and those who don't.  Those who have already been receiving social services from the government will continue to receive priority help from the government and those who are trying to help themselves will be forgotten just as they have always been.
Didn't you know....
It's more important in PC America to have somebody who speaks every other language EXCEPT English, so that those who can't speak English will be able to conduct their business.  In So. California you can hardly get a job dealing with the public unless you can speak Spanish.  Same with the border towns in Texas.  Talk about discrimination.  However, your situation was probably the almighty buck... Cheaper to contract to the call answering centers in India than to hire someone here.  I once had to call a tow truck with my AAA card.  Guess what?  Somebody in India trying to dispatch a tow truck in the United States.  Couldn't understand me whatsoever.  Same with my computer support number... India.  The guy had me clicking on this and that to fix my little problem and before I knew it, he had me return my computer to factory settings (didn't tell me ahead of time and I knew the second I hit the button what I was doing, but it was too late) and I lost everything saved on my computer.  I was LIVID!
It is 26% , not 30%. I didn't say 30%.
Get it right. Geez.
Sorry, no. But I didn't want to let

I'm sure you already know there's lots of information on line.  My guess is that you wanted to hear someone's personal experience with the same problem.  I'm a relative "oldie" myself.

I also don't have to tell you that your orthopedist is your absolute best and clearest source of information.  The only suggestion I do have is that you develop a list of specific questions to ask him, and only him, during your upcoming appointment.  Good luck.

I didn't know
they had any ads posted. I was just searching around, googled Transcription companies and found their name, went to web page, etc.
The Website sounds like a totally legit, US MT co. You would never know it was offshore unless you asked. Good thing you asked before you went any further. Wonder why they ran an ad for US MTs if they are offshore? Maybe trying to get a US side started? I will have to keep the reverse lookup in mind, but Im sure not all companies will be that sloppy. I wish there was another way to find out that stuff. Were they nasty to you when you told them you wouldn't type for them? Thanks for the info!!!!
Well, I'[m sure she didn't think of that one!

...and I suppose you are perfect...never made a mistake or had bad judgement?  This is NOT what she needs right now.  Don't you think she knows she did wrong?  Get over it.  She is asking some very serious questions and doesn't need any moral opinions, okay?

They said I didn't have...sm
enough experience, which I thought was strange because I have nearly 10 years.  They passed on hiring me without so much as a test or speaking to me, and now I am the QA director of another company.  Kind of funny.  Their loss, not mine!  Glad I stayed where I am at.
Sorry, should be DIDN'T see that one.
s
I didn't see it as an ask for help.
deal with it everyday and do my best and go on.
Oh, Wow! Didn't think....

it would be that easy. I was absolutely in the dark on this.

I will be using the other keyboard, though, because the letters are completely worn off this one.

Maybe the best, but I tried em and didn't like em.
