Nana, U are a perfect example...

of all that was wrong with this site B4 - negative, repetitive bashing for no reason other than boredom, I guess. It's interesting how this site has become a whole lot more informative and fun to come to now that all of us horrible "banned" people have come back - in fact, I wear my banning by what's her name as a badge of honor! So please do enjoy her new site - and we'll enjoy ours, mmmkay?

you know as couples go, angelina and billy bob were perfect skanks for each other. perfect!
i suspect they may get back together because they are both so skanky no one else can keep up.  that is unless she decides she wants her brother more which is skankier.
Go Nana!

I am not very old, but have been doing this a long, long time.  I worked on a typewriter with carbon paper.  Strolling down memory lane!  What a joy!  I'm sure you found out like I did that the world of computers has made life easier to a degree; however, like you I am from the old school where I still pull out my Stedman's even though Google is just a keystroke or two away from me.  I guess I just feel better seeing it in black and white on paper.  I have had to learn to dwell amongst this wonderful cyber world!  I love this board, and I liked your post.  Well put!  We need you Nana!  Keep up the good work!  The new MTs coming into this field are the wave to our future, and I feel they deserve a chance.  We were all new once.  A lot of us were fortunate enough to work on-site for a long time before diving into the shark tank from home!  LOL - This helped me so much!  I am still learning each and every day even after this long time and I am loving every minute of it.  MT or BUST!

Nana - thanks. (sm)

Can I get more advice from you on that first way you do it - when I talk to my boss Monday?

How long have you been doing this?  Is it working to everybody's satisfaction?

Please write to me if you have anything more you can share about it.  I'm working for a walk-in clinic with about 5 centers and they are going a little crazy at the moment trying to figure out how to do all this.

Nana....
if you had a website that was hijacked...do you really believe that you have to just let it go and go start another site? She is telling a HUGE LIE. Her story makes no sense whatsoever. She has no control over this site anymore BECAUSE IT IS NOT HERS!!!! IT WAS NEVER HERS!!!! She was just the money handler! She is a big, fat, greasy LIAR!
I loved it too Nana, old MT here also,
boy do I remember the carbon. I started in radiology where there were 5 carbons, and if I made a typo I had to fix every single one, what a pain that was. Let me say also, I was with MQ 16 years and if I left a blank for QA, they never gave me feedback, never told me about Google (not a computer lover), when I researched, I used books, of which I have many. I was lucky enough as far as the doctor names that my two accounts were local and I had the good old phonebook. I did like your post, made remember the good old days, and sometimes I wish I had one of those typewriters. Have a nice day everyone, I am off today, going to visit my expectant daughter.
Nana needs a hobby
Wow, you sure waste a lot of time getting your anger out at someone who is within her rights to comment on the quality or lack of quality of MTs. Maybe you Nana are a decent MT and they certainly are out there. Can a QA person vent or do you have such a problem with that that you have to write an editorial about it. Get working and get over yourself.
Nana referred to me as QADRAGONLady below and... SM

I wanted to move this discussion back to the top so I started a new thread.  She asked if I share any websites or information with the MTs I QA and my answer is, I do.

For instance, when looking up a doctor's name, did any of the MTs here know that most states have a state department for professional licensing where you can look up MDs, DOs, physical therapists, nurses (both LPNs and RNs), etc?  So in addition to using the AMA, website which is great because you can do a sound alike search, you can also go to each state's licensing website.  I should add that no one ever told me this when I was an MT.  I just discovered it on my own because I cared enough about the work I put out to make sure I exhausted every resource possible.

Another nifty, self-taught, trick of the trade... I have the website for every facility for every account I work on in my favorites.  A lot of times a facility will have a doctor finder on their website.  In addition, they may say the name of a ward or department that you might be able to reference on the website.  Not to mention, it helps to know where the facility is located for future reference such as when a dictator mentions a place of employment in a patient's social history.  If you know where your facility is located, then you can look at the yellow pages online for that area.

I always share any great terminology or drug websites I come across.  There's a great website that will list most every hospital in any particular state and a link to that hospital's website.  All I had to do to find that website was do a Google search for "hospitals in Arizona or California or Texas" (whatever state you need) and I found theagapecenter.com website.

No one person ever sat me down as an MT and gave me a step by step on how to use my reference books or the internet.  I taught myself because I CARED.  That's the problem with a lot of the MTs I QA.  They don't care.  The say the MTSOs only care about the bottom line, well the MTs only care about the bottom line too and the end result is poor quality and subsequently loss of American jobs.

But so what?!?!  I'm just a dragon lady and most QA people are just big meanies anyway.  MTs can keep blaming everybody else for their low wages and offshoring, but it's time to step up and take some responsibility.

Nana referred to me as QADRAGONALady below and..
Through those many years we had the luxury of time for research and education. These MTs today must concentrate on getting as many lines as possible within as short a time as possible. There is just not the luxury of time for research we enjoyed. Its a whole different ball game now. These young robots need every bit of patience, encouragement, and help we can give them in their struggle to maintain a living in our chosen field. They memorize quickly and do not forget the things they must learn on the fly.
Wasn't bashing you Nana!
I just thought my post might come off like that LOL. Guess I was sort of agreeing with you! Didn't want it to sound wrong since I attached it to yours!
she is nana - the one who is 'spreading the word' over here
that over there is up and running.

She does not get it yet.
I agree with you, Nana. It's an uphill battle. SM

I do my part by being very lenient with the MTs when reviewing work -- i.e., I don't count off for using cc versus mL or for typing Alzheimer's instead of Alzheimer, etc.  The dangerous abbreviations list is for written notes and orders on the patient's chart.

The flip side of me being lenient is when another QA person counts off for things I've been lenient on, then the MT throws a fit and says "well one QA says one thing and another QA says another."

So, there is a need for a standardized set of rules across the board that all companies should adhere to.  I'm just not sure AAMT or whatever they are called now are the people for the job.  It should be a committee made up of MTs and dictators.

one more ques nana: digital signature. ?how do you get it on there (sm)
On that first way you are describing --- are your docs able to SIGN OFF on the note digitally?
But perhaps you should! Eye are not perfect! (as above)
A second look never hurts!
perfect
well i'm glad you've never made a mistake or wrong decision in your life. you have no idea what went through his head while he was there, and you have no idea what his situation was, or how he was feeling or anything. i wish my husband could be as perfect as you. ha, but then he would also be heartless.
Of course, nobody is perfect
but when your rate of pay depends on your QA score and you have endless pages of style guides to memorize, then one would expect the QA people to already know all of that information. I have done QA in the past as well and what I didn't remember, I would look up and many times learned things from the MT!!
Perfect!! Thanks so much.

Thank you!  Exactly what I was looking for.

Have a great day

Sunny

Perfect!!!! nm
.
perfect job for me.... sm
Why? Because I love this job and doing it from home just makes it so much better. I get to work in my jammies without makeup, deciding what to wear, traffic, long lines at the donut shop, fighting for the optimal parking spot, office politics, the boss's "favorite", backstabbing, nit picking, monitored bathroom breaks and phone calls, etc. I do acute care for a large hospital and every report is different. It keeps my brain motivated and my fingers moving. It ain't perfect, but I love it.
Lee Perfect
I like how a transcription company can't spell transcribing....lol.
Perfect example of why we need QA ... it is
Truly laughing out loud here!

Lee Perfect
Hi was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this company. Thanks.
lee perfect
do a search on Company Board, not under Google, but under MTStars. They use Emdat platform, which a lot of people do not like. I feel there is a turnover there, as the same jobs are advertised always. They are IC.
I don't get it, either. If we were all perfect,
nm
Perfect VR/ASR
Remember that the better it gets, the less you will be needed.
PERFECT!!!
Thank you so much!!!  You have no idea (or maybe you do) how excited I am about this!!!  I just started using Word about 6 months ago and I have been cursing the fact that I have had to get used to using my arrow keys to get around the templates.  BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!
This is a perfect example of why
we are losing our jobs.  After 7 years you still don't understand the terminology?  Oh Vey!
Wow! That is perfect!
That is exactly what I need.  May I copy it and use it?  You are so helpful!
No one is perfect

I had a doctor tell me that he got a report back with fecal sac.  He laughed when he told the story.  It can happen to the best of us.  Try not to let it get you down.

Perfect Transcription, LLC
Anyone have any info on this company?
Ms. perfect? Confused? SM
Watch out, now you have really insulted her!!
THE PERFECT SOLUTION....sm

I interviewed for a company a while back whose method for discouraging cherry picking was to dock their paycheck by $5.00 for every report they cherry picked !    ha.. love it !!

in other words, the perfect job!
sorry to burst your bubble! I have, however, been on the same acct for over four years, but it runs scant these days, so I am on another acct, but I'm finally getting used to it.  Can't use many macros though, cause very rarely have the same doc.  How 'bout when you find "that" job, let us all know where it's at!!! Have a good day!  Hey, what happened to winky!!!
Its working perfect for me
AAAMT.COM is a perfect solution for me
Three reasons
Accurate, Accessible, Affordable.
I need to save something. I found this aaamt inc is the MT company for my practice after I fired 15 Mt companies over 6 years. I am using them for 2 years, no other charges, HIPPA comliant and charge only 5.9 cents.

GoodLuck
yes, yes, yes, love it, perfect job

Hey everyone, I need the perfect cure....
My son has been up since 3 a.m. vomiting and diarrhea, could be a good old battle with the flu.  What can I give him to help soothe his stomach?  Pepto Bismol didn't help at all, so I need any good ideas on what could stop the churning stomach.  Thanks.
perfect cure
Emetrol - OTC antiemetic for nausea - It works MAGICALLY!
what a perfect comparison
If I had pictured you as anybody that would have been the perfect choice, quirky, funny and cute in the boy next door way.
Perfect!...I'm printing this and
memorizing it! Thank you, thank you! This makes so much sense (and with the symphathetic face/tone). It's hard to think straight and think of this when I'm the one in the situation. I'll let you all know how she takes it. Thanks again.
Word Perfect
Does anybody on here use word perfect? I am a new grad, and a company says they will hire a new grad if I have word perfect and and a wave player. Any input would be good.
word perfect sm
Did anyone notice that since Dell has been having price reductions they are now offering Word Perfect instead of Word for Windows? How can you test/take a position with a new computer which has  Word Perfect if the hiring company is using Microsoft Word? Just another fly in the ointment. How does one deal with this?
Word Perfect

Yes I have used word perfect since the 80's. Last year when we rebuilt my computer  the newest version gives a choice of using word perfect or MS word . I prefer word perfect in many ways. Try it you will love it. I use it for other clients to create logos. It  has a photo storage to create posters and brochures  for example pictures of work my husband has done on worksites that actually show the quality of his work, his creativity and custom work. Steadmans also has a medical speller that can be added.

I thought VR would never be that perfect but
I am totally shocked that it does much, more more than I ever thought it could. On the worst, English and ESL dictators sometimes it comes out almost letter perfect. What I like is some of the medicines I do not know, VR has them down pat. What is really strange is I think it sometimes does better with some of the worst ones and then falters on easier ones but having said that, you still have to have human ears to listen thru all that because a cough, sneeze, crunch, something dropping in the background, just outside noise, will cause it to provide its own words and OMG, they are a hoot then. I really love it and I was not a believer at first.
Nobody said perfect, just not a slob
be for real... editors know there are some corrections and blanks but some MTs take advantage and as QA are paid by the line, this is unfair.
In a perfect world..

I really feel for you.  I am extremely jaded when it comes to this type of situation.  Maybe the new service is a great company, maybe they mean to do the right thing.  Without an inkling of further information, there is no question that the new service wants to have their cake and eat it too --  They do not deserve a loyal employee of all those years unless they are willing to pay for the benefit of having seasoned and quality people. Having quality continuity helps them point out to the client how smooth the transition will be, blah, blah, blah (unless of course this change is being made because of quality issues in the first place).   I'm sure someone reading this is thinking about how "grateful" you should be.  Sorry, this is business and this is all about making money which is what the new service will do without interruption by sucking as many good MTs in that are already experienced on this account. MTs overall have already lost tremendous ground because we do not allow ourselves and demand the credit and value we deserve.

Yes, Cobra is hard on the wallet, but you can stop Cobra at any point which puts you in control especially during this transition.   I'd have to take every single factor, pro and con, and go over it with one thought in mind - What will this new company do for me - money, benefits, scheduling/time, work environment, and changes to my working lifestyle?

Yes it would be a perfect world
if only *your* viewpoint was enough.
perfect text my eye
I should be paid more for all the typing and correcting I do on some of those.
In a perfect world....
We should all be so lucky, so perfect, so productive and never have to look anything up or double check any spelling, address, etc.

Can't imaging what your QA looks like when you type 100 miles per hour nonstop and never stop to breathe.
Yikes!!!

The perfect supervisor
One that allows you to have an "off day" once a while and does not get too personal.  One that gives bonuses to those who go above and beyond to help when it's needed.
My perfect space
I thought I had to continue with my big bulky wood, L-shaped desk but then we put porcelain tile throughout our house and even into my workroom. I then was "talked" into getting a smaller, all glass desk with a really light hue of blue to it. I got a 4 tiered matching shelf that holds my fax/telephone, printer and pictures of my furkids and other essentials. This room has my television (I also have on QVC and HSN during the day which I can watch without really listening. My room is painted a colonial blue with white shutters, faces my mailbox and driveway and I have my cat condo in front of the desk where my furkids can look out the window and see the birds. I enjoy watching them and the birds occasionally. Oh, forgot, my hubby even though offered his own room for his computer wanted to be in the same room (to be close to me, he said) so he has a very small desk right behind mine. He is never a bother and I really do enjoy having him here on his days when he is off from work.
