Serving Over 20,000 US Medical Transcriptionists

Not really new...

First started transcribing in 1974, but switched to medical transcription in 1989.

The introduction of computers to take the place of electric typewriters was a definite plus. :) And Expanders cut my time in half or sometimes better.

I have a "day job" at the cardiac unit of a NC hospital. I am the only Transcriptionist for that unit. I also do overflow all over the place. Prior to that, I had no problems. It has, for me, always depended upon how much time I want to spend working.

Could I ask why you think it's dying? You mean there are fewer jobs? Or they pay less? Or the flexibility is less?

Thanks in advance.
