OT

I have finally reached the point where I don't feel guilty about not working the OT.  I need my Thursday and my Sunday off to recuperate and my wrists could not take much more than what I already do.  I've been at this 30+ years, always 40 hours per week.  I have at least 6 years till I can retire.  I belong to the company during those 40 hours, but they can go jump in the lake beyond that.  I do 2nd shift and work every Friday and Saturday night and still that apparently is not enough.  But then again, it was that way back in the day when I was in a hospital, they were always wanting us to put in a few extra hours.  Management does not consult the transcribers before it promises the client the moon and this ain't India or China, not yet, anyway, though obviously the U.S. is headed that way.  I lead a very busy life during the day before I even sit down to work, helping babysit for 2 grandnephews and keeping an eye on my aging mother.  Some nights I'm so tired it's all I can do to get through my shift as it is.  And I could care less about extra money, uncle sam just takes that much more in the end.  I have no debt other than my house, and  I'm frugal as I can be.  I've been very vocal and honest about this to my immediate supervisor, who usually lets me off the hook.  If the company gets ugly with me, I will talk to my doctor and maybe even a lawyer.  I want my freedom, they can keep their money and their little prizes they have to offer to get the extra time out of the younger folks.  Enough out of this old lady, ha-ha.
