Question

Once, in the distant misty past, MTSO's were almost exclusively people who had extensive transcription experience.  They understood the process of transcription on a deeply personal level.  It would never have been necessary, for instance, to convince any of them that transcription is not a "typing business"...it is a "KNOWLEDGE business".

Now, "business types" who have very little personal understanding of what transcription is all about have taken over the board rooms and executive suites of many companies.  What they do understand about transcription is on a purely intellectual, rather than an intuitive, level.

I will be the first to admit that the lack of business skills of many MTSOs in the past was a deplorable situation, and led to the unnecessary demise and/or acquisition of their companies.

However, the situation is now reversing.  Executives who understood transcription but did not understand business are being replaced by executives who understand business but do not understand transcription.

My question is:  Do you think our industry is the better or worse for this trend?
