best of luck to you in all your endeavors

Best of luck to you Lynn. I have been
thinking of changing too but I have worked at home for so long I'm not sure I can do an outside job. I only have 5 more years until retirement. I hope I make.
Uuummm, like Lynn????
:
Lynn - you are incorrect!!! It's a......sm

for example, my state never required a license if you worked at home on a computer with having no traffic to your home, until THEY CHANGED the law/rule.......

congratulations lynn. I too am sm
getting out after 28 years. I am burned out at 50 with this profession and the way it has evolved in the last ten years.

I wish you well.
I think Lynn is probably pitching a fit....sm
because this is a lot of bad advertisement for Jester's Touch, which if she didn't pay Doris she deserves. This can severely hurt her business, and that is probably why she wants this off of here. MTs aren't the only ones who visit this forum. MTSO's do too and you never know who knows who her clients are and could contact them and let them look at this board and use it to their advantage to take clients away. You never know how others can use something like this to their advantage. Not paying people can be a severe blow to a business. Just my opinion.
Lynn, I think what the poster jln was saying
was that the way you know if a company is affiliated with India/outsourcing is that the ad will have many misspellings, not that your post did. :)
I feel your pain, Lynn sm
I can't afford a day off either, much less a whole week! Whew, I'd freak out. I wouldn't have any fun, though, cause I'd be so worried about money! Oh well, our day will come...I hope! Keep your chin up and know that you're not alone, if that helps any!
I must therefore deduce that Lynn from Jester

Lynn, that is not true. The contract that you sent me is the very
same that Ms. Latta sent to me.  Ms. Latta has not falsified anything.  I am being neutral in this situation simply trying to get it resolved and that is all.
Welcome back Lynn; of course! I remember you.
best wishes on your new, improved, undertaking of the field we love. You're gonna need a huge sense of humor, which you already possess. Have fun! and LaughLots!
Hey Lynn, Shoot me an e-mail. I'd love to know
what Webmedx offered you!!! If you wouldn't mind sharing.
Lynn already has my contact information when she posted this
because she has been emailing me all along threatening me.
Lynn, Administrator's email is on Contact page.
as far as proof that you paid this person. You shouldn't need someone to tell you what they need - if you have proof that you made the payments, then just send them and get your name cleared. As Patti stated above, the Labor Board's denial means nothing more than it doesn't handle IC situations.

Also, do you have proof that the IC has badmouthed other MTSOs as you claimed? If this happened to me and I knew I had paid all monies due, I'd do anything and everything to get the word out and I wouldn't wait for an invitation to do so. A word of caution, too: It might be a wise idea to not even post here at all and refrain from engaging in the back-and-forth. Just submit any proof to the administrator straight away. You might cause further damage to your reputation by posting something unprofessional in the heat of the moment. I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and wait for the details from all sides, but the longer you wait to present yours, the worse it looks. Just an outside observation.
Lynn has great information. I "went digital" a while back
with trying to use a digital system at my house that recorded the docs as they called in. But the phone lines were too expensive so I switched to FTP. I got a bit overwhelemd by the time I spent routing files (a bunch of different doctors and different subcontractors) and so I finally settled on a TASP, MetroScript.

So to answer your question, in my case with the TASP, my doc records all day with the digital recorder. At the end of the day he logs into my website (at MetroScript) and uploads the files. I can then log into the website and download the files whenever I want.

I travel quite a bit and I use a couple of different computers and so the Internet interface works really well for me. But everyone is different! Good luck!
Good luck. See what luck they're having on the

I hate Instant Text. It is expensive, long long learning
curve, and too much distraction for me.
How long should I wait after applying for a position before I follow-up. It has been as long as two
without hearing from some.  Just wondering if I should send an e-mail to follow-up to see if they received my resume or not.  I don't want to offend anyone but feel two weeks should be long enough for someone to at least acknowledge my resume and that I have applied for a position.  Right now I would accept anything even a note saying no thanks.  Any advice would be appreciated.  I haven't had to apply for a job for the past 10 years so I am a bit rusty at this.  Thanks again for any advice.
Congrats! How long have you been a MLS and how long did you study for the test!

Please see message. I have three daughters with long, long hair.
I also have long hair down to my waist and my three girls have hair that long too. My daughter brought them home from school last year. I was devestated and grossed out!!!! I have never had to deal with lice. Anyway, we did the treatments and two of my girls broke out in a severe rash with the OTC stuff. Their little heads were so sore!! I thought I was being meticulous with eggs, only to find them hatching again down the road. A nurse at the pediatricians office suggested I try oil to suffocate them since my girls were allergic to the lice solution. I bought a huge bottle of veggie oil and dumped it on all three heads, plus my own. I then wrapped the heads in platic wrap and then a towel. I left this on for 30 minutes. It takes a while to wash out the oil, but we never, ever had the lice or eggs again!!! If you try this, make sure you put on an old shirt and put a towel around your shoulders. Obviously we were desperate, but we all have such long hair and very thick hair so I was willing to try anything. And I figured there was no chemicals involved so that was pretty safe. And it sure did help my littles ones since their scalps were pretty raw from the solution. Hope this helps and Good luck!
It's been a long, long time since I've used a C-phone, sm
but I do think jobs can be paused.
I had a problem with this for a long, long time sm
I have always worked days, like from 6-3. Over the last few years, it didn't matter how much sleep I got, I became real groggy between 7 and 11. Really shoots the day. Talked to my doctor and he said my blood pressure pills were the culprit but he refused to change me to another brand or dosage since I have multiple aneurysms (2 in the brain). My BP has been stable for a long time and he wants to "keep it on the low side". I tried taking them before I went to bed instead of early in the morning, but then I had headaches all day. So, I am changing to a night shift for a few months so I can sleep when those pills kick in and so far it is working pretty good. I stay mostly awake during my shift and die when I hit the bed from 6 am to 10 am, then I lay down again later in the afternoon for 2-3 hours. I still get 6-7 hours of sleep, it's just split up during the day, plus I am mostly awake now when I sit down to type. I don't have to deal with the heat in my office, either. It tends to warm up real fast in here with the south sun on the house and 2 pc's running all day, even with the air conditioner on.
Way back when, a long, long time
ago and in a galaxy far, far away, I had my own accounts also and some years cleared $75,000.  Yes it can be done, but you need to have your own accounts.  Also lots of delivery, and other duties involved.  I work for a large national now and make much less, but I got tired of accountants, having to deal with hardware problems, deadlines, driving deliveries, printing, printers, etc.  So I decided to simplify my taxes and stay home and just type.  Don't have to worry about computers either, because the company will just send me a new one.
Long, long files. Seemed like they'd never end! I'd never go back to VA again. nm

I've been doing this a long, long time...

I used to make $70,000 and up a year and did so for most of the late 80s and 90s (one girl used to make six figures a year working 7 days a week!)  Because we were making more money than the supervisors and Medical Records Directors in hospitals, they began to switch to transcription services which were sprouting up all over the place.  Plus AAMT came into existence and even though in the beginning it claimed it was to fight for transcriptionists (although assured us it was NOT a union), they eventually morphed into an organization that was more management friendly.  They developed the "guidelines" and the 65-char line.  That was the beginning of the end for those high-end wages.  Then all those mickey mouse transcription schools popped up, and now outsourcing overseas.  YES, we're complaining.

Been in this biz a long, long time, 30+ years and....sm
I love/loved MTing. However, things have changed so much during these years. The job definitely gets easier; don't have to look up much, can decipher ESLs much easier, in other words, you get pretty comfortable with things and you have confidence in yourself. The more experience you have the easier the job, but....

I actually made more money 10 years ago!! We didn't have speech recognition and you actually got paid for headers/footers, demographics, carbon copies, etc., you got paid for what you did fairly; today, I am not so sure.

You will feel burned out at times, but that passes and you find you like your job again.

Good luck to you!!
A long, long time ago, I was going thru
a really bad time emotionally and physically. I was suffering, and my transcribing suffered. I assure you - if you are to the point of not paying your rent, literally, and needing food stamps, there is something else going on in your life than current transcription rates. We are all in this industry and many are thriving, most getting along comfortably. If you are literally to the point of food stamps, you honestly would be a fool to continue. I blamed it on my job, on my line rate, on everything but the honest truth that I was ill and was NOT working as I should or could. It is a really sad thing that you keep spreading this propaganda that MTs in our culture are doomed and now destined for food stamps. Food stamps are not something to toss around lightly, as you would know if you ever had to use them. Please let's not be quite so dramatic. Again, if you are really in those dire straits, you really need to face that MTing is not the fit for you, personally, and do something about it rather than blame our industry. You dwell on the past, but we can't do that. While you may have made other wages 20 years ago, may I remind you that we were pounding away on IBM Selectrics using layers of paper and bottles of white out, going crazy trying to rewind tapes over and over to get that dang word, with no idea what an Expander was. Technology is fantastic. Things have changed, but things are still great in this industry, and in this world. Those who change and can adapt will be fine, but you need to recognize that most of us are not ready for food stamps.
Sure did...you been around for a long, long year

If only we were that luck!!
The web-based email progam SUCKS!!  but no, I'm not saying I hate MQ....in fact, I love working for MQ.  I'm simply saying the new email program sucks and I wish they'd never started it!
Wish I had that luck
Have had them since September and have been on the phone with them about 6 times since. Either my Outlook has errors or no internet and sometimes both. Each time they ended up having to assign me a new ISP #. I had Adelphia and switched to save a few bucks. Seriously considering going back as Adelphia is the only other DSL in my area.
No such luck...

The tech support guy at the MT office attempted to help me 2 days ago, but he couldn't figure it out either.  He was the one that suggested the system restore.  I am quite frustrated at this point to say the least.

As I said, best of luck to you! sm
You are fortunate and you know it.  You are blessed.  Have a great day!
Best of luck to you as well!
Interesting how people can see things so differently. I see my new profession as a way of helping animals get well and being kind to them.

I hated MT and am so glad to finally be out of that profession that I found to be way too solitary as well as unfulfilling. You, on the other hand, see it in a different way and enjoy it.

Very cool how we both found our perfect fit!
Thanks...I really did luck out!

I wish you the best of luck. sm
It is not easy going it alone. Please don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. I am praying for your peace, as well. Let us all know how things are going. Take care of yourself.
Best of Luck
There are so many great people here...we are your support system, so use it if you need to. PLEASE. Are you taking a laptop so you can stay in touch?

I Wish You Luck
I'm sending good wishes and prayers for you that everything works out. I'm sorry you don't have the support you need within your own family, but you have the support of people on MTStars
Not having luck
I appreciate hearing that, but I have been told by recruiters that I would probably only be able to do clinic work aside from ER without further training. I have a few discharge summaries with OPS notes that did include much unfamiliar terminology, and I had to leave blanks. If the dictators would speak clearly, I could just look it up, but that's a dream that won't come true LOL!
Did you have any luck?? nm

I wish I had such luck as you. nm

Everyone wish me luck, getting rid of AT&T
As of this morning, have signed up everything (except cell cause Charter does not carry) with someone other than the nickel and dimer, AT&T. I wrote them an email yesterday and do you think I got an answer? No. I am told their internet is much faster than what I have been used to and keeping fingers crossed. You know sometimes it is hard to change because you do not want to mess up and jump out of the frying pan into the fire. The issue of telling me at the first place I had to have land phone - even though I could not use- they would charge me a nomimal fee- so I could have my internet just sucks big time. That is the end for me. Getting the new provider hooked up 12/31 - just in time for the new year.
Best of luck to you. sm
Looking back 20 years that is how we screwed up - going home to work.  I would jump at the chance to make what I made with bennies 20 years ago and no "middle man" involved.  Good Luck!
No luck with BBB
I filed a complaint with the BBB last year when I didn't receive payment from Four Seasons Transcription as an IC. They can't help. Best thing is to either proceed to small claims court or hire an attorney. Unfortunately we don't have a lot of choices. I went to small claims court and got resolution. I would start there.
Luck?--Please! SM
That 11 cents includes incentive pay for high line production and requires this level of production over a week's period.

You know, working good and steady at a real job, which this is, just isn't punishment for many of us.

AND, a big plus of production pay is that you're actually paid more for working more. I spent years on a set wage where slugs slopping along through their shifts took home as much as those of us who were doing an excellent job because we couldn't stand to do anything else. And everyone's wages were relatively low, reflecting all that time so many spent spent chatting and goofing off. Now I'm paid a lot more equitably for the work I do. As are many of the complainers on this forum. (Those with genuine problems not related to laziness not included.)

Anyone ever have luck..,. sm

just sending out their resume with a letter to various doctors/clinics?  I have a lot of experience in, and enjoy doing, podiatry work but it doesn't seem to be something a lot of big MTSOs are looking for.  I can do the other work, but I am able to get much higher production doing Podiatry.

Anyone have luck going about it this way?

Anyone know any companies looking for someone with Podiatry experience?

THANKS!

Good luck. We each do what is best for us. nm

Good luck!
I used to be on MedRite with MQ-- loved it and it was SO easy-- then they switched to DocQScribe.  I haven't been able to make my line counts any more like I used to.  I work much longer and much harder and wish MedRite was back.  The other night, I had to a split job-- the lovely doctor batched three preop H & Ps.  I got the first two OK, then the last one never came to me.  I had to call the office, girl there said I "needed to call the techs"-- which I did.  I was on "ignore" for 35 minutes (I timed it) before a real person answered the phone-- only to be told that he couldn't do anything and I had to call the office.  Another call to the office-- the girl said she got a "system error" and still couldn't give it back to me.  Now if that would have been MedRite, I could have just gone back to the job myself and retrieved it and had it finished and over with.  But I guess that's PROGRESS.
Good luck

I have been in many hurricaines, living on the east coast, but nothing like Katrina.  Good luck to you.

You're welcome. Best of luck.
Take care
I just sent it. Good luck!

Good luck!
I wish you luck because having a baby and getting to stay at home with it is very rewarding.

In my opinion, having the experience of working at a hospital is definitely in your best interest. If I were you, you could go to the local job seeker's board here or go to MTjobs.com and apply.

You will do fine!

Best of luck to you and the baby!
