Let's say you go over seas to Paris or something, and the hotel that you are staying at has a high speed internet connection... if you take your phone adapter with you and a phone (I know, it's a lot to lug) you can enjoy the telephone just as if it were at home... same number and everything... no charges...nothing. Used mine like this recently when we went to California.... instead of paying room rates at the hotel, just used the regular phone.... no extra charges (except of course for the internet access which we already had to have)
