TRANSCRIBERS

In Reply to: where did you buy your transcriber.... - MTstudent

I use transcribers only and have been buying on E-Bay for the past 5- 7 years.  Before that I bought new.   I find that the Pearcorders are the best for me for quality and longevity.   I have had some bad and some good experiences on E-Bay but when they were bad, the people corrected them.  I last bought about 4 years ago and bought 3 Pearcorders for about $50 each.  They are still all working.  I do not have good luck with the Panasonics -- but that could just be me.  Prior to Pearlcorder bought 4 Sony's for less than $50 each and they lasted for less than 3 years with the same thing going out on all but one.  I still have one for back up.  I have IC's that have used them.  Foot pedals seem to go out the most.  Anyway since some day soon my docs will want to move forward in the 21st century and go digital I still buy from E-Bay rather than new because I keep thinking they will agree to move to digital.   Good luck.   Patti

Transcribers

Have used Pearlcorders, Panasonic, Sony, and probably a few others which have all been okay, but am wondering if there is a "best" one for sound/tone.

yes, my supervisor and other transcribers
are well aware of the system. And YES I DO DO DO DO DO type the foreign and American mushmouths. 520 lines in six hours is nothing ... I average 220+ lines an hour.
Any pulmonology transcribers out there?

I'm new to the speciality and just found out I will be working exclusively on this one last week.  I was wondering how you liked doing those reports versus other reports?  Are they more easy, difficult?  If you don't want to post, you can feel free to e-mail me!  Thanks.

Need advice on transcribers

I have to buy a new transcriber. I have a choice between a Sanyo minicassette or a Phillips minicassette. Do you have any opinions on either of these? Repairs records, voice quality, ease of use, etc. All opinions are much appreciated.
