That was my first instinct too. These 3 locals stood out more to me.

Yes, 1 had come there for help, but obviously the majority of the crowd was local and together they were one bad bunch. It's not just the evacuees, these types of people are everywhere. It's too bad that this happened, this man who was beaten obviously didn't deserve it, but locals were involved. It's just a shame it happened at all.

Nationals versus locals
I'm not sure if you mentioned how long you worked for MQ, but working for a national is not the same as working for a local company.

Your MQ supervisor might not have even remembered that you had a health problem... maybe she did, I don't know, but when working for a national, you cannot expect that one-on-one treatment. It's just not going to happen. I never elaborate on personal circumstances about why I have to take off. I just send an email saying I can't work for X amount of days because of an unexpected crisis or circumstance and if they need to know more, they can contact me.

The same goes with being routed work types with at which you excell. When you work for a national, 95% of the time you are expected to be able to do all work types. I wonder how many MTs like the same work types as you. Not only that, it would be quite time-consuming to document hundreds of MTs areas of expertise and then assign them only those work types.

I'm just crossing my fingers that MTs who are "friends" with supervisors aren't routed work types I prefer to do as well.

I hope I'm not being harsh, but the reality is that when you work for a national, you can't expect to be treated like an "individual."

I'm not saying that this is always the way it is, but to expect anything else is just unrealistic. As posters said below, your real family and friends are the ones you need to rely on for support and compassion.
I believe fantastic transcripts only hires locals - sm
But I am not sure. If that is the company out in Burbank/LA - I thought they only hire within 30 minutes of the area. I could be wrong.
Ok hon - stop giving in to that instinct to love men.
And while you're at it, change the color of your eyes because I DON'T LIKE YOUR COLOR. Come to think of it, isn't today Martin Luther King, Jr. day? Um - know anything about what he stood for? 50 years ago a whole lot of people felt the same way about African-Americans as you do about homosexuals. I suppose you would have told them to change the color of their skin?
Education and instinct. Makes us better than the computer. (nm)

We have stood behind what we sell.

How many times should we exchange the pedal before she tries to troubleshoot it through the software or the computer?  We exchanged it even though we did not feel that was the problem.  When the original pedal came back to us it was confirmed that the problem was not the pedal.  The pedals we use are widely considered by the transcription industry to be the most durable pedal available.  They are Infinity pedals.

Good, you stood up for yourself and you
don't have to take it anymore! I wish you all the luck in the world because you are a great person, I can tell. You deserve happiness and respect. I am glad for you. Find your calling, go on, you can do it! Flush the negative crap they put on you down the toilet, and raise yourself back up. They don't deserve one more second of taking your power. Follow your heart.
I stood up for myself and probably lost an account - oh well

This is only the second month that I have had this account but they thought that their bill was a little "high" as the doctor does not feel that he should pay for any lines that I have in a template or if the physical is mainly normal and so I have a normal template, etc.  I told them to try to find somone else that was cheaper that gave them the service that I did, with the TAT and quality.  This is a doctor that loves to rib off insurance companies and morally I have been debating about doing this account but felt someone had to do it.  But I told the NP/OM that with the time I spend in delivery and pick-up, paper, etc. I need to make this much per hour and that is about what I make.  This is the first time in a long time I have really stuck up for myself.  She said that their last Transcriptionist had been charging $5 a page and  I said fine I would compare that with my lines but it would be with 1" margins all the way around and a 12 courier font to define "a page" and low and behold it came out about the same as with my line count.   Anyway I am sure that they will begin to look elsewhere and that is fine, I wasn't looking for an account when this one came my way and so somewhere else there is something else.  But it made me feel good to stand up for myself and believe in my skills.
