To MT with clogged sinuses

I agree with another poster, decongestants will do you more good thatn antibiotics if it's chronic.  I worked for ENT's for 25 years and your would have thought I had an occupational hazard with all my sinus/allergy problems, including 2 sinus surgeries from bad bad infections.

But, doc finally "agreed" to let me try at home what they all do for patients in the office, so here goes a geat self help treatment.  If you've ever been in an ENT's chair, it's what they did to you in office.

Remember, only do this if your sinuses are really clogged and you can't clear them with blowing.

Take Neosynephrine and squirt it onto a Q-tip.  Put the Q-tip gently into one nostril and keep it there for 5 minutes. Do this sitting still, no kids or critters around.  After 5 minutes, take it out then gently blow only that side.  This step reduces the swelling of your turbinates, so that you can repeat the same step (new q-tip w/Neos) and put back in for 5 more minutes.  You will see that you can push this in a little further, again, gently.  When you take this out the 2nd time, you should be able to get a lot of junk out because your nasal turbinates will be shrunken enough to allow the drainage to come out.

You can repeat it on the other side but only do one side at a time and it works 50% better if you take a decongestant an hour before.  Since my last surgery 12 years ago, when doc had to open up my antral window, I've only had a few sinus infections but allergies are the pits and when they are bad, I do the above and get relief.  Only do this for 2 days, after that the nose spray can cause rebound effect.

Sounds gross I know, but it works.  HTH
