Anybody had any experience with tax relief services SM

for back taxes owed, specifically state tax? I owe some back taxes to the state (2005), not much, $1200. Need to come up with it pronto. I saw an ad on TV about tax relief and was wondering if anyone has done this. Thanks.

Transcription Relief
Does anybody know anything about this company?   I tested for them and wonder if anybody has any experience with them.  Thanks.
Transcription Relief
I took the test for Transcription Relief Services a year ago and passed.  However, they only offered me 7.5 cpl even with over 20 years experience.  So, you are not missing anything.
My kiddos start school next Wed and I'm not ashamed to say it will be a relief. My teenaged son

gives me hourly updates on his boredom every single day.  Now, my daughter is starting kindergarten this year and I will be sad probably the first week because she's my baby - my last baby - but she is sooooo ready for school.  She just can't wait.  Maybe I should be the one with hurt feelings since she can't way to leave me!

I highly doubt my son's feelings are hurt when I say "Just think, you won't be bored when school starts."

Fun in Transcription Training School
If I had a hammer....... I'd hammer . . . . .

B--A--R--B!  I know I would.  Today I have the displeasure of being having to be trained for a new job.  Since the Heartless, Inc.  I used to work for traded me as an employee for 29 Indians in Bangalore who will now do my job.

Medical transcription itself is second nature to me, but the hoops and hurdles on how to get the job done with their company is what they are trying to teach me.

You know, this information she conveys to us is all covered in the company handbook under, "Redundant Rhetoric."  That's under the subsection heading of "Everything You Will Never Need to Know."

I never do well with the whistles and bells of any new job.  Our trainer has been systematic in this group conference call presenting the material.  She is very windy in her explanations of "do this, don't do that, .... can't you read the signs?"

no, I'm sorry . . .  I can't.  She lost me about an hour ago.

Instead, I worry.  I'm not sure if I have attention-deficit disorder, or irritable HOW disease.  Maybe my give-a-flip is broken, but something has gone terribly wrong.

I can still hear her now, but . . . . I have not actually understood a word she said except, "Um, and So Um."  I hope they aren't, um, going to test me on it, so um, apprehension is my middle name.

I interestingly study the flight pattern of flies.

She said, "That about summarizes it.  Do you have any questions, or comments?"

'Summarizes" was a buzzword I was looking for.  It signaled the end.  Over!  Finis!  Yeah!   Magically, I was awakened from my coma.

A dag-gone medical miracle, no doubt.

Well, it was either her words that woke me, or now that I think of it . . . . .  it may have been the pain from the cat claws piercing my back as Buddy cat tried to jump up on the back of my chair.  We'd have to study that a little more to know for sure.

I was relieved, but that did not last long.

Apparently, next up on her synopsis of fun-filled classroom activities was, "HUMILIATION," just before the part on "TORTURE."

She called me by name to reiterate what she just taught us.

I am totally bumfuzzled.  I've been fritzenfrackered before, and this feels a whole lot like fritzenfracker to me.   I hate fritzenfracker.  My heart beats like a bunny at about 500 beats a minute.

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking it must be the same feeling skydivers experience the last two seconds before impact, after their parachute has failed to open.

A long pause of silence follows.

My mouth is instantly cottonball dry as I choke trying to speak.

"Mari?" She said.  "Mari are you there?"

When all else fails . . . . I know it's best to just be funny.

It may not work but it's a ploy to stall for time so I can crash course myself and maybe come up to speed on what the heck she was talking about.   Yes, I learn fast.

"Whew!"  I said sounding out of breath. "I just got away! Sheesh!  Don't worry, I'm okay though.  Ya'll didn't pay the ransom did you?"

She said, "I'm sorry.  What was that?"

"You didn't pay the ransom did you?  I was hoping you wouldn't pay, because I knew I could get away.

Did I miss anything?"

Now our trainer was now stunned.

She was speechless.  She stuttered.  The class laughed.

"No, I'm just kidding." I said, "What was it you asked me?"

She said sternly, "I asked if you could review what we just learned here."

Since I didn't have enough time to fully absorb the information . . . . again, I went with funny and fritzenfrazzled.

"I could," I said, "and so, I would, but you know, um, I have to be honest with you here. . .

(I used her favorite words of 'and so and um' to summon some sympathy from her, so you know, maybe she would not send me to the New-Hire Firing Squad.  At a minimum I hoped they would give me one last cigarette before they shot me. )

"And so. . . . Um when you started talking about the PDQ, the RSVP, and the ASAP, ADT, you lost me.  I tried to pay attention,  but mwah, mwah, mwah Charlie Brown's teacher, and I don't get it."

"What!" She said. "Sounded like what?"

"Um, you um, sounded like . . . . Charlie Brown's teacher."  I said boldly and daringly.

As I explained it all to her, I imitated the sound to properly apply full effect,  ". . . And the next thing I knew, Poof!  Mwah, mwah, mwah.  Hmmm . . . unconscious."

My fellow classmates laughed hysterically.

I thought, "Yeah, right, laugh, encourage me.  I should be carrying a sign around my neck that reads, "Will work for laughs."

This is not funny.  I'm through.  This isn't the standup comedy club you know for Pete's sake.  They aren't paying for funny here.  I know, I'm as good as fired.

As the class continued to laugh, surprisingly the instructor apologized in cutest her baby talk.  She said, "Oh my!  I am soooo sorryeeee.  You should have said something!  Does anyone else feel that way?"

The rest agreed, "Mwah-Mwah, Mwah, MWAHHH!" They said excitedly in unison.

Realize here, that this woman has a very bubbly, yet violating voice.

Imagine if Barbie could talk.  That's our trainer.  The high-pitched, I've-been-in-the-sun-too-long voice.  After a while, listening to her felt a whole lot like fingernails scrapping the chalkboard.

Apparently her sun-baked idea is that we are going to do it all over again.

Oh no, uh-uh.   I can't take anymore.  Uncle!  Put a Fork in me, I'm done!  Hearing her for one more minute is too much.  Keep the training pay.   I need hazard pay.

I have to do something different, because  unknown to her I am a nice person until I've had enough.  When I reach the point of total aggravation and frustration . . . . if a butterfly happens by and softly touches me I will grab a hammer to smash that &#$&*!.   I know this about myself.   I try to control it.

"Excuse me . . . . Barb," I asked interrupting her, "May I be excused?  I gotta run and get a flyswatter."

"Mwah, mwah, MWAh?" The instructor asked.

"NO ma'am it CANNOT WAIT!" I said frantically.  "This IS an emergency!"

POLL: Home School vs. Charter School vs. Public School vs. Priv ate School...
Pros and cons of each too. I have two little ones that will be starting school soon and I would like opinions on all. Thanks in advance! :)
I've thought of doing it too! Anyone remember the ROS School of Transcription? The lady that SM

started that school was an MT working out of her home.  She ran the school out of her home too!  It was a distance learning program.  She contracted with CMT Transcirption Service to let her students type some of their accounts.  CMT in turn employed a mentor who would basically train the students, check their work, and give them feedback.  Once they graduated the program, CMT usually hired most of them if they had enough work.

I know because I used to be an IC for CMT as a Mentor/Editor.  Pretty good job at the time except once everyone got trained, there was very little left for me to edit.  That's when I started thinking "hey, maybe I should start my own school!"

Now with ROS defunct, I was thinking about again.  There really is a need for a good school created by MTs and run by MTs where the sudents are mentored by real MTs.  But that's just me, I'm always full of big ideas, but can never really figure out how to make it happen, ya know?

relief
I start to brace at night.  Believe it or not it helps.  Warm soaks help too, take a potty break and run under warm water.
I'm sure it would come as a relief to be fired.
What an ego!  Hasta la vista, baby!
tendonitis relief
I'm looking for ideas for symptomatic relief of tendonitis, sleeping in a brace doesn't seem to be helping much.  The pain started in my left pinky finger and is now traveling up toward my elbow.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
pain relief
A conservative measure would be to purchase an ergonomic chair, if you are not already using one. They are costly, but  work well in alleviating alot of the 'stress points' while transcribing. If you want information on where to purchase one, please contact me.
Big sigh of relief
from the other posts I thought perhaps not supposed to claim things for the work I have done at home, even at regular employee. I am spoiled by getting full check but know I have to start putting money back soon.
I just saw on MSNBC where relief efforts sm
have finally reached Slidell. From the video, there are boats and jetskis and FEMA is there, too. There is flooding and the homes have been severely damaged. Hope we can hear from her soon.
s/l morphine and T3s for pain relief sm
for patient with metastatic cancer.  TIA
No to tax relief agencies. Depending sm
on your situation, you can do this yourself through an offer in compromise. Most are a scam or a ruse to flush out people who do not pay taxes. I answered an ad on TV for NADN for help with taxes, and ended up with someone from the Treasury Department at my front door. That was just the beginning of my nightmare.
Wow.. Thanks.. what a relief.. no blanks in that report thanks to you!!

Neck Pain Relief
The main problem I have is neck pain from typing. Found some good products to help and especially the neck exercises that keep me going with less pain and headaches.
Nat'l Humane Society Disaster Relief

Just watched the rescue of doggies, kitties and birdies with 1700 animals rescued. My wallet just got a couple dollars lighter. Poor little things.

do't worry, go for the steroid shot and relief!

I have tendonitis along with RHA.  When my elbow flares up (as it's doing now), I pop the ibuprofen, use a gel wrap for "tennis elbow" you can pick up in the drug stores and try to limit my heavy movement with that one.

That said, I have to have it along with my hip injected 3-4 times a year.  Not sure if my rheumy is just the best or not but I've never had any pain with the steroid injections.  I call him slick and the relief is almost instant, no more tears from the pain.  HTH

Similasan for earache relief. It is homiopathic.

For temporary relief, try Salonpas patches SM
I have chronic back pain and went through the chronic pain classes with my HMO. The spine surgeon suggested trying Salonpas patches. I didn't think they would help at all, but they did give me some temporary relief. I feel they work as well as the expensive "name brand" heat patches you can buy, although if I am going to be on an airplane, I wear one of those bigger and longer lasting patches. The Salonpas are about 2 x 3 inches, flat, have a pleasant odor, and I have used them on my back, on the wrists, and one time even on my face for a sinus-type headache. (My daughter says I was crazy to do that, but it helped). You can buy a box of the Salonpas very reasonably at any drugstore but they are VERY cheap at Sam's Club or Costco. It is really awful to have to transcribe (or do any work) when it causes pain. I hope some of these suggestions others have made will help you. I have used the type of neck pad that you heat in the microwave, but that was a long time ago. I just saw them on the Mouse Mitts site, thanks to the MT who posted the link. I'm going to order another one of those right away. There are a lot of helpful people out there. Take care...
Wise.MT
Yes, thank you! And thank you for locking out some of the negative messages. What a relief!
xx
I did that with 2 kids with time mgmt and a high school girl who babysat 3 days a week after school

donations for the relief coming from 50+ countries, including

-- India is making a $5 million donation to the American Red Cross, Ambassador Ronen Sen said Saturday. In addition, Sen said India was willing to donate essential medicines to the relief effort, noting that India has the largest number of Food and Drug Administration-recognized pharmaceutical companies outside the United States.

The cost of running a private school or any school is expensive....
Why do you think public schools are so run down and can't find good teachers?  Because the government and people to not put forth the effort or $$$$ to improve the educational system.
Relief from this coal miner's daughter for all of those families and prayers for the one fallen.
Coal miners are a rare breed. Thank God these were saved.

Agree, verbatim transcription equals poor quality transcription.

Where are the services that pay 11.5?
I have 18 years of experience, and the most I've been offered is 9 cpl and that's jumping through hoops.  11.5 for a company is just not the norm, sorry!
HIM/services will get you any way they can!

Howwouldtheyliketoreadareportjustlikethisandcodeasfastorbill? Maybe we can charge "air time" for all those times the docs leave us hanging while they figure out what they are going to say.

services
Carol, I have never worked for an on-line service but was thinking of switching. I'm tired of getting screwed by the hospital and cheated on line counts. Which services are you speaking of.
Services
Services Provided as Key Activity of the Business

If a worker provides services that are a key aspect of the business, it is more likely that the business will have the right to direct and control his or her activities. For example, if a law firm hires an attorney, it is likely that it will present the attorney’s work as its own and would have the right to control or direct that work. This would indicate an employer-employee relationship.

Does this mean I am not an IC because my company presents my work as its own and they tell me what platform I have to use?
You keep saying they tried other services?
Why did they try other services if they were so happy with you? Maybe they keep coming back, but one day they may not...
What extra services...
I was wondering if any of you MTSOs, or MTs that work for an MTSO, offer any extra services to your clients? For example, do you do their envelopes and labels as well? Or anything else? Keeping in mind that you are not in the same town and that your employees are not in the office or even same state as you, lol. Thanks for any suggestions!

curious
Yes, small services (sm)

used to pay 11 cpl IC, have now sold out to squids who in turn pay 7-8 cpl.

And services left average 8 cpl, if you're really experienced you'll get 10 or 11 and get such bad dictation you'll get a headache you'll never forget.

ICs can work for services, as well. nm
nm
Funeral services
I agree. I personally did not attend my first funeral until I was in my mid 20s, even when my beloved grandmother died, it was her wish that we "kids" not attent (age 12 at the time). I have never forced my own son to attend as a child either. I now feel obligated to attend services for husband's family, etc but always dread the whole ordeal, even for just a distant relative, etc. Grateful that my parents also will not be having formal services, just simple cremation. You must do what YOU feel is right for your child and your own situation.
armed services
My sone joined the Navy in his junior year of college. He went in as an officer. They finished paying his college and then sent him for Officers training. He is now teaching nucler physics for them for 4 years and go do something else in the Navy after 4 years to do anything he wants.
Did you get a contract for your services?????
If so check your contract.

if not

Are they normals he supplied you?? If not then are they YOUR MACROS???? If they are then I would think they would be your property. Did he pay for your ShortHand or Office programs or even your spellchecker????? Did he furnish your computer?????

If your answer is repeatedly no then perhaps you should tell him NO money No macros.

Just my humble opinion.
And then company has right to not use services
x
Not being paid for IC services

What steps can I take to collect payment for my services as an IC?  Company is ignoring me.  The only thing I can think of is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.  Hiring a lawyer wouldn't be worth it.  Thanks.

Transcend Services

Thanks so much for the information.

When you market your services with a
business name and a business license, it shows the doctors or hospitals that you are representing yourself as a professional business and are not just a homemaker or housewife trying to make a few extra bucks. They will treat you with more respect and take you more seriously, and in turn will be willing to pay you a fair rate as a respectable businesswoman. Think about any business in your community or town. They all first procure a business name and a business license before they open their doors. You may be working from home, but you can will present yourself in this fashion. I would also suggest obtaining a P.O. Box to use as your business address instead of using your home address. Believe me, this works. I have been running a successful small MT business from home for over 20 years now, and I support my entire family on my earnings.
No, these services have not cleared
it with their legal staff. If they did, they would not be advertising IC status and flexible schedules, then presenting a contract that requires Tuesday through Saturday, set hours, or Sunday thru Thursday, set hours. No, no one has to accept a contract, and I certainly would not under those conditions. I bet there are a lot of MTs though who need jobs, don't know the law, and who are willing to accept a contract under those conditions. However, it is ILLEGAL under IRS guidelines. If the national MTSOs have consulted their attorneys, then pray tell why are they hiring ICs, controlling their schedules? Under those circumstances, they are considered employees under the law, and these large nationals KNOW IT. I'd fire my attorney if I was told it was okay to operate under the screen of IRS detection. No, you do not have to shy away from services and find your own accounts. Get real. I subcontract to MTSOs, albeit smaller ones, as an IC, and do not have my own accounts. Right now, I am under contract to only 1, and I am not breaking any IRS laws in doing so.
MRT Services - anyone familiar with them?
Anyone ever heard of MRT Services? I saw them online. Please provide feedback.
Gmrtranscription Services

Good morning,

Has anyone heard of Gmrtranscription Services or Verilogue?

I am testing for a home position and I am curious about their reputation.

They transcribe physician/client interactions for medical marketing research.

Any advice is appreciated.

Kymee

I didn't say they tried other services after

Yep, I know they've used Medquist, MRC, Medifax (long time ago - don't think it's the same Medifax that I think is in existence now) and some local services I won't name because they'd be identifiable by their names.  How do I know this?  I knew about it before I even went on my own; in fact, that's one of the reasons I did it.  I saw a need for QUALITY transcription, not the crap that was coming back from services, and I knew i coulld provide that.  Also, I have contacts in the HIM world who told me by name the services they used and what poor quality/turnaround time they were getting.
