I talked with my local Verizon cell provider and they will let me buy the wireless card and try it for 10 days at home, if it does not work well can return for full refund as long as it is within 10 days. Thinking about this as DSL will never come my way.. Heck we just recently got the cell phone service in the house.. before was having to stand in the middle of the county road to make a call with my other provider..would be kind of cold this time of year and hard to type out there too.. LOL

From the comments on this post and the post I placed yesterday, I am convinced I would like to try IT. I hate to spend $189 though and not like it but I do not see on their web site where they offer a money back trial period. Also, do you know if you download it and have it immediately or if it comes in the mail? Thanks to all who have offered their opinions, it really helps!

Well there are a LOT of factors - you may be a ways down the road from the nearest cell tower, which is one of the reasons that you only get one bar on your cell phone. I mentioned the "new wireless card" as a POSSIBLE alternative to those MTs who live in a rural area and cannot get a DSL or cable connection or satellite is not a viable option and are also utilizing a desktop computer. Until recently, the wireless cards were only feasible if you had a laptop computer, so I was just informing people that this might be another option. Sorry you have such bad cell phone service -- this is not an option for everyone but as I mentioned a POSSIBLE option with possible being the keyword
Wireless Card
I am working on getting a wireless card as I know I will be doing more traveling and want to use it with my laptop for transcription while away from home. I will use the card as a write-off for my business, but I also get a check for buying it through my own website. If anyone else is interested in making a profit off of this and other services that you use every day, let me know by sending me an email. I will speak to you about it then.

I also use Verizon wireless USB card and have no problem connecting and staying connected where I am at. If you can get a signal, you are in. I work online and have not had a problem. Even in my busiest month, I did not approach 2 GB of the 5 GB limit.
Verison wireless card
Anyone using one of these wireless cards.... I currently only have dial-up internet and will NEVER, NEVER be able to get DSL or cable... I am able to get Verizon cell phone service finally at my house and was wondering about using one of these new cards... can anyone tell me are there any compainies that allow wireless internet access??
I don't want to invest $$$$ in satellite since so many companies say NO to that too... thought I might try the Verizon wireless but it is a 2 year agreement... and I hate to have to carry that and my dialup service too??? Any names of companies that would allow wireless or satellite would be appreciated...thanks...

I am thinking about getting a wireless card from Verizon, Cinguar, or whoever but I am not sure what to get or how much data I use? Can someone explain this stuff to me? I have dial up and I think I have to get something because it is getting hard to find work with dial up. Thanks

You said in an earlier post that wireless internet through your cell phone carrier is a better solution than fixed wireless. I have a cell phone, but often have to walk around the house to get one bar for a signal. Does this not factor in? Where my desk is now, forget it.
Tech ? - re. wireless card
Had to send my laptop out for repair, they installed a new hard drive. I have a Linksys wireless card in there but lost the installation disk. I downloaded from their site as to drivers, etc., and the laptop won't recognize the wireless card or it's copied files from the internet. Is there a way I can connect the laptop to my desktop where the modem is and the broadband Linksys router to at least get me going on the internet. As it stands now, the laptop is useless except for the Windows XP and Microsoft products on there. Would really like the laptop to get onto the net, this is why I have it, to save my back from breaking at the desktop. Any suggestions? The cable company I have said they can't help me until I get straightened out with Linksys as to the wireless router for the laptop.

Hello, I'm looking into buying as USB720 from Verizon Wireless. It is for wireless broadband access and simply is a modem with an antenna that plugs right into your USB port which I could use with my PC. It is $99.99 after a $50.00 mail-in rebate. The service itself is $59.99 a month with a 2-year commitment. I live out in the boonies with only satellite internet and dialup available to me. Also, I believe that it is compatible with a VPN. This certainly would be a nice alternative to pokey diaup and satellite. It is cheaper than satellite (the initial cost anyway) and it is faster with speeds up to 700 kbps. According to the map at Verizon, it is not yet available to me in the Las Cruces/El Paso area. But according to two reps at Verizon, it is available. I get a strong signal here at my house and there is a 30-day trial period. Is there anybody in this region that has been able to get this service with success? Also, any experience at all with the Verizon air card would be welcomed. Thanks in advance! Shelley

Actually, chosing "cap after period" will not force a period in the instances I mentioned. --
Even with it checked, it WILL NOT cap after a number with a period in it. Like "white count 14.1. hemoglobin 10.9.
If you know of a way that it WILL, let us all know. I have never had a version of Word that will work that way. Always puts in the lower case, even though there is a period there.

Yes I've transcribed for an MD who said this constantly while he was trying to think of what he would dicate next. I also had one who would say "ahhhhhhhhhh....." for what seemed like an eternity!! So annoying isn't it!

Has anyone disconnected the internal sound card and replace with another sound card?
I am having problems with my sound on one of my computers. Several different ExText program have been on it so I don't think it is the program and the sound is just now as clear as on my other computer. Has anyone switched (disconnected the internal sound care and replaced) to a new sound card? Did it make a difference.

Maybe you could ask for a trial period, tell the potential employer the problem, that DSL is not available to you. I may be wrong, but I think you can get satellite internet most anywhere, if there's no other alternative. Also, if you are able to get cable, check into cable modem, which most any cable company is doing now. Sorry for your situation! I hope you find work soon!

Unfortunately, I've already called the cable company and that's not available here yet either. Satellite is, but most of these companies say that it MUST be DSL or cable and that satellite will not work.
I would certainly offer a trial, but I can't even get anyone to talk to me! They find out I don't have cable/DSL, that's the end of the conversation.

I check with former companies that I still have good relationships with. I check the job boards. I cold email "good" companies and asked about part time. I have 4 jobs at the moment, 3 transcription and I work at a vet 4 days a month for a couple hours just to take a break and do something I really enjoy.

Awesome updates. Install typical if you want to not configure a lot yourself. It is pretty easy and self explanatory if you do want to configure a lot yourself, however, and you can do a lot of different things with it. One tip, especially while working, I always disable the http traffic monitor. Slows things down even with massive memory. All the other things it does keeps your system very safe without that.

The lawsuit is VERY MUCH ALIVE AND WELL and as some of the more sophisticated posters realize, it takes time for DISCOVERY allowing both sides to attack and defend their position. And MQ stock is STILL delisted as not even MQ can figure out cooked books based on illegal billing for which ANOTHER lawsuit is STILL pending against MQ by the clients. that my Spybot and Ad-Aware missed. I had some nasty at the time that my trial version of Ewido took care of quite nicely that the others couldn't. Definitely worth the download.

I heard a commercial on the radio looking to enroll Rh-negative donors for a trial, having something to do with plasma. The kids were being loud and I couldn't catch the whole message but I am interested in learning more about this trial as I am Rh-negative. Any information is appreciated.

You won't really know if it'll be better for you unless you give it a trial run. 5-1/2 hours each day should go by quick even with breaks.

Just kidding. I'd suggest not using credit cards to pay debts. It'll only dig you in deeper. Look into a signature loan or putting a lien against a vehicle or house. Lower interest rate, pay off sooner.
