You plug it into an outlet, plug in the phone cord, hook up the
footpedal and the headset and it works.
Plug adapter into serial port, plug foot pedal into adapter,
plug adapter into USB port.
Turn it off and unplug everything!
No NEVER! I believe at MQ if you lose your equiptment because you left it plugged in during a storm, they won't pay to replace it. Atleast that is what I was told a few years back. Needless to say, they used to send out e-mails saying this is thunderstorm season and make sure you unplug both your computer AND your phone lines if a storm approaches!
turn off and unplug
Unplug from the wall, even your protector, and be sure to unplug your phone line if you use one for the computer, your router if you have one, or your high speed modem. The surge protectors fail. We have one that was nearly 200. and during a storm it got fried along with the tv that was plugged to it.

Quit working and unplug everything.
Had a television get hit one time that was unplugged from power but cable was still connected. So undo everything.
Or if you work in-house, you unplug
and turn up the volume and look around the office at other employees with your hands asking ... "Why?"

When I worked in house one of the 3 MDs did this. I only played it for the OM, who said she'd handle it. Ah, finally I found a use for her, LOL.

Linksys reboot
I found that I had to do this when my lovely charming neighbor was feeding off my wireless. It gives an IP conflict. Check you firewall settings for the wireless and try to keep you eyes on the blinking lights to be sure no one is feeding off your wireless. To catch them unplug the wireless and get a drink or something then plug it back in - if you do it too soon, the person feeding will just reconnect- let them think it is gone for the day.
Time to reboot?

Try this and see if it works, but unplug and replug the unit first
Programming Dictaphone unit:

1. Press the "Program Key" key (far left button under the display screen) and you will see the word "Keys".
2. Press the "Keys" key (same far left button under the display screen).
3. Press the first button on the left vertical row of black buttons (remember this marked button as it has been programmed for the display), and put in the following: # * 1 8 (to program the display).
4. Then press the "select" key (look on the right hand side of the phone keyboard itself and press "x" where it says "Dictate" aka the multiplication sign), and the display window should clear.
5. Lift receiver to get original display back and hang the receiver back down. You are done programming.

To get a job, dial the hospital phone number, enter your ID#, and press 6. You will hear the prompt say "at start". To get the demographics, press the "programmed key" (or the button you programmed on the vertical row) twice. You should hear four rapid tones and it will start giving you the demographics. If you miss any part of the demographics, you can press the "programmed key" again twice, and it will start the demographics again. Every time, you sign off a job and get a new job, you will have to press the "programmed key" twice again for the demographics.

The code to program the display button on the Dictaphone is # * 1 8. If for some reason, your Dictaphone will not give you a dial tone or seems locked, trying reprogramming the Dictaphone as above.

Sometimes just unplug power from router, wait

Shutting down/reboot and defrag

Both rebooting your system at least once every day or two, and defragging your hard drive about once a month will pay dividends in terms of system performance.

Scandisk has nothing to do with this. Jeez!

Brian

Reboot without the headset plugged in.

Then plug the headset in. Give it some time to find the headset. If this doesn't work, try checking the Device Manager. In XP it's Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers. Click on the plus sign and see if anything is "crossed out" in that list. First try to right click and check the Properties. If it is not working proerly try the Troubleshoot button. Click on the Driver tab and update the driver. If neither of these work, go back to the Device Manager, right click on the USB port in question and Scan for Hardware changes. If none of these work , uninstall the driver. Remove the headset from the USB port and then plug it back in and see if the computer can now find it and install the driver.

If you're plugging the headset in and unplugging it without removing without the "safely remove hardware" icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen, you are disabling the USB port until the computer is restarted again. Always use the hardware removal tool!

Is there a reason does anyone know that you are to unplug your LCD computer monitor to clean it. Why
would they tell you to do that.

SHUT UP!
Get over yourself.
No. I have as much right to tell you to shut up and
get out as you do me!

No. You're just a lesion, a runny icky sore. A little sunshine will dry you right up! That's what you DON'T want -- something to heal up that oozing attitude of yours!

MQ is digging it's way out and if that isn't good enough for you, get out.

It's a real shame MQ cannot get the IP addresses of all the complainers and fire every single one of you without notice. Absolutely, that would be the best action they could ever take!!

shut them down?
do you think reporting them local news agencies that fight for consumers would help shut them down?

You are a fool..so shut up
Why do I work two jobs?  Do you have the need to know?  Because I like to live well and have money in my pocket.  Why dont you work two jobs?  Because you are the lazy one and most likely no other trans company would hire you except MQ, who it is well known will hire newbies and transcriptionists that other companies would not give their 2 cents to.

Changes are that he is not even aware of what is going on and is semi-comatose or full coma.  Hopefully, the hospital will keep him comfortable.  My father-in-law went so fast that the nursing home couldn't give him enough morphine to keep him comfortable (even though he was basically not awake we could tell he was experiencing discomfort), they legally couldn't dispense enough and it was evening.  They were going to call Hospice in the morning but he passed away before that could be done.  Hopefully, the hospital will have the ability to keep this man comfortable.
I shut down every night--sm
for two reasons. Not the electricity, but the fact that if you are always running, you leave yourself more open to someone trying to compromise your computer. the second reason is that even though you may be set to receive updates on antivirus, etc. sometimes those updates need you to reboot in order for them to take effect. in fact, most of them do. If you are always running, your updates are never taking effect. The minor mini-surges at start up do NOT put wear and tear on your computer. they were DESIGNED for shut down and restart. geez. better get new techies!
I know, I know, I had one eyeball shut and
One eyeball open and my fingers were sore from typing.  Too late to catch, but he won't read it anyway.  Just was venting.  I would laugh if he would call me and say the same thing.  But I know he won't.  Thanks anyway.
She just threw that out there to shut us up, I think
She posts here quite frequently, mostly to whine about her husband, stepson, MIL,and everything else. I don't believe she's really an intentional troll at all, just a complete moron who was trying to dig her way out of the sh*tstorm she started with this gem of a post.

speaker plug-in
I have a Dell and I had to invest in a set of Labtec speakers where you can plug the headphones directly into the speaker. I had already tried everything else and I just couldn't get enough volume out any other way. The speakers are available through TranscriptionGear.com, I believe and were quite reasonable.
I don't know what the Koss Plug is, but for myself I just
The kind with the small, hard ends that fit into your ear, not the big, round, padded ends with the foam on them. They're under $20. They don't hurt at all, and I find the sound quality to be fine--but I've not had a lot of experience with other, higher quality earplugs.
Usually when you plug in the headset
that automatically send the sound to the headphones instead of the speaker. This could be a DAC with a problem unless someone else knows a secret that I don't. Try a different headset and see if the results are the same.

No, there is no where on my speakers to plug into so I must ..sm
plug the headset directly into the back of the computer..on the floor..hard to access. Then I have to unplug the headset and plug up the speakers when I want to use them so not quite an ideal set-up!
I just plug into my computer, but I use

Audio Advantage by Turtle Beach.  It supposedly bypasses your sound card and the dictation is a little bit clearer.

I had one account that provided computer and they sent me speakers, but there was such a hum/static with using the speakers that I couldn't use them.   Others with the same company complained about the hum/static too.

Need help with USB plug, no audio
Just tried a new USB headset and now no audio at all. Did what I was asked to do but noticed under control panel it is not acknowleding the USB, saying SoundMax digital and cannot get the USB to show and also under sounds it says no sounds. I have unplugged several tiems, rebooted several times and have no clue as to how to get sound now. TIA.
anyone who needs to plug in an extra USB
You can go to Walgreen's and buy a Hub for $10.00 apx and then plug it into the computer.  However, if it doesn't work at first, unplug it and then plug it back in.  This only works for the mouse, keyboard and foot pedal, not the printer plug.  The printer plug must be plugged in directly into the computer.
I only have 1 plug in on my new computer
I need 2 of those, 1 for the monitor, 1 for the foot pedal. I got splitter tonight and both ends are female, need male and female to handle what I need. I have Infinity foot pedal that I use for voice recognition. Does that make any more sense?
so its okay for you to be unappreciated, to just keep mouth shut
I also do my work and then some, but why not a little respect back that I give?  I can't believe it doesnt bother you.  Look at your tone on this board, you seem like the kind of person who would be bothered by it.

They've forced many of our ERs to shut down
a regular doctor's office. So the few that are left are full to bursting. Once when I had a medical emergency, the ambulance couldn't take me to the closest ER because they had no room, instead we drove FOREVER to a far-away hospital, and still I had to wait a long time out in the hallway. Right now I would say 80% of the people being treated on the account I type for are Mexican and don't speak English. So the hospital has to pay for full-time, professional translators to accompany these people at office visits. And it's no surprise that a large number of them came here illegally.
