Wallpaper, gotta vent.

We just moved into our newly bought house last month and thankfully there was only 1 room with wallpaper in it, a bathroom.  This stuff was put up 19 years ago when the house was built, so it was put in BEFORE the medicines chest, toilet, lights, etc.  Why is somebody else's wallpaper always so gawd-awful?  It's never anything you can live with.  So there I stand night after night ripping and pulling and spraying with DIF trying to get this mess down.  Then, to top it all off, it's leaving a rubber glue residue on the wall that isn't even noticeable until you roll your paint over top of it.  Then it starts curling up.  WHY DO PEOPLE WALLPAPER BATHROOMS?  It will be so nice when I'm done, redoing the bathroom in a lighthouse theme, but I may lose my marbles before I get it done.

Surface of Mars with the moon on the left.
And what is today's wallpaper?
For today's eye candy I have a lovely sandy beach with turquoise water. I need to get off the beach theme thingy but I like to sneak a peak in the middle of working and mumbling doctors and stuff - then its back to the salt mines!
What's your computer wallpaper today?
Mine is a tropical island with lovely blue ocean and sailboat - total bliss.
same wallpaper as last time you asked

Can you describe the wallpaper ;-) Not for any other reason than...

Sorry - please indulge me once more - one more groovy wallpaper...

I love my Wallpaper Calendar

Link below. You can make it semi-transparent so that you can have a nice wallpaper background. It is ALWAYS there and you can set it to show as many as 9 weeks at a time.

They have a free 30-day trial and after that it costs $30, but I think it's worth every penny.

Thank goodness we didn't have wallpaper in our house.
The person who lived here before us had a thing for pastel colors and paneling, though.  The living room was blue, master bedroom purple, 1st bedroom pink, 2nd bedroom lavender, kitchen peach, laundry room yellow, and bathroom gray.  The carpets and curtains were all different colors to match, too.  We lived with the ugly paneling in the living room for years before deciding to rip it down and put up sheetrock.  We were pleasantly surprised to find a perfect sheetrocked wall behind the paneling.
Just one more wallpaper - 1969 Abbey Road

Another far out pic!

MQ - I gotta tell ya
MQ is okay to work for..I have worked at many inhospital positions and transcription company positions and MQ is no worse than other companies I have worked for..
Gotta see this
Go to TheFreshAirShop.com. This is not a scam.
DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO!! RIGHT ON!

Just gotta say...lol.
I live outside of Madison, so been there done that, lol
Gotta be ham.
We have ham and lots of sides.
you gotta be
kidding! 90??
I just gotta say...
sometimes saying "ain't" just feels good... sort of like letting off a good swear word (fiddlesticks just doesn't do the trick)... when I'm feeling rebelious saying I AIN'T gonna do something feels way more satisfying than saying I'm not going to
gotta ask

Okay, this makes sense.  So what about people who live near the poles who have extended hours of darkness?  Will they rule Alaska at being high risk?  I knew a woman who had lived there in the service and she said she did her gardening at 2 AM because it wasn't dark.  They adjusted.

Personally, I work better at night and sleep better during the day.  I am sharp at night and can produce way more.  I can sleep deeply, restfully during the day but not at night.  I seem to be the opposite.  I've been this way since I was a kid.  Maybe I came out of the womb too late in the day!!!!

gotta tell you this one

My neighbor retired from Magnavox forcefully when they left and went to Mexico.  He said there is a law that if a part is missing, they don't have to pay the import tax, so they purposefully ship their items with a knob missing!  It really ticked us off this happens.  It wasn't this administration that started this whole thing either..I won't get into a politics discussion because everyone's beliefs are their own, but just doing a little research will show it.

I also have an aunt whose husband retired from Ford and she said they got a letter if the company does go under, she will lose her little pension check and all her medical benefits.  I've seen these companies go under then suddenly appear again once they've stopped all former benefis, which is a crock IMO.  Seems like now it's back to the old way, everybody has to stay in the same house and everybody work just to get by. I don't know how minimum wage people make it.

This has gotta be a put-on, right?

One of us is just yanking everybody else's chain with this 'I am most wonderful and experienced MT but I don't speak it the language' lingo?  Come on, are we on Candid Computer?

War of the Worlds -- You gotta see it!!

I just saw it tonight....FABULOUS!!  I admit I was skeptical because on Rotten Tomatoes (the website I go to see critics' notes first) it was falling and there's been ups and downs about it...AND because as much as I have always loved Tom Cruise he has really gone off the deep end in my opinion.

However, the movie was fabulous.  I remember the old black and white movie too.  Tom played his part incredibly; as did the little girl (forget her name); and Tim Robbins, too.  Really was something.

Go see it!

Sorry.....gotta say my husband, especially when I see
him throwing ball with my son or reading a book to our little girl.......then 10 minutes later when he's leaving his dirty clothes in the bathroom, I could just kill him.....LOL.
You gotta hear this!

gotta laugh
I was actually a triple-D which is an F before I had reduction surgery. So was my daughter who also had the surgery!
Gotta say I agree with above. I was in the same
position one time. I was in my late 20s, married about 10 years, and my husband showed VERY little interest in my. No "I love you," no kissing, very little sex. I started "talking" to an older man who told me he loved me, etc. Anyway, never went further than talking on the phone, but it's something I regret to this day, almost 20 years later. I feel like I was just as unfaithful as I had slept with this man.
Gotta love that! - nm

gotta agree with this one
he is GORGEOUS !
One more thing you gotta do...
When you've caught your breath, spend a couple more bucks and send a certified letter to the oncologist in question and let him/her know what has happened - someone hired the billing company in question and this part of your pain and suffering was avoidable and after exhausting the usual efforts to clear things, inexcusable on their part. Good luck with the battle on both fronts.
Sorry, gotta disagree with your
theory, but I can see  your point.   If you read the autopsy report, I can see how someone could stage this child being strangled and beaten to death and how the sexual assault could also be staged.   But, there were body fluids found on her that did not match the DNA  tests for everyone in the house (and contained no familial markers). So, if the DNA evidence was staged, it would make the situation premeditated which means that her parents would have needed motive to plan and carry out the brutal murder of one of their children in a very high profile way.   I hope some day we know the truth too.
you gotta step outside the box a little...sm

any rad mt's....gotta question for ya

ok i would like to know on average (of course) how many mammo's and chest x-rays do ya type a day?

so me typing about 30-40 mammos a day and lots and lots of chests...is this normal or what?????

Because I'm just being me, I gotta argue ya ;)

Nuthin' personal... I'm only going on what AAMT BOS tells me to do, because I'm a tool.  Page 209 of 2005 AAMT BOS, 2-cm mass, 4-cm lesion, 4-1/4-inch scar, .38-caliber pistol, et cetera.

LMT--I gotta thank you for that question!

I've had this background "static" coming through my earbuds for years now, but just thought it was the quality of the .wav files.  When you said your speakers were to blame, (which is where my earbuds are directly plugged into), I plugged them directly into the computer and WOW!  That horrible buzzing/static is 100% GONE!

So, thanks for sharing your misery because I would have NEVER thought to blame my crappy speakers!

Gotta agree
at least so far. It definitely takes me longer to edit than it does to type- I assume the drafts will get better over time but I haven't seen much of that yet.
Yep, that is labor also and you gotta know
I am dumb when it comes to computers and such. I would hate to really mess something up to where I could not work. I might have to have some memory removed in order to go to 1.5 but my computer will go to 2. Wonder if I should go for that much? thanks for the advice.
gotta use headphones
I would love to just use my speakers (Harman/Kardon, came with PC but work well) but hubby does nightshift so he sleeps during the day.  I used to have a pair of Sony earbuds that worked wonderfully (dogs ate 'em, goodbye $50) but now I use a regular stereo headphone.  The sound quality with the earbuds was better but the headphones are more comfortable.  The inside of my ears would start to get sore with the earbuds after a few hours.
gotta luv it, hehehehehe NM

Gotta have Dr. Pepper
The phone, cell phone, TV remote, lots of post-it notes, the blinds up on the window for sunshine (if I'm lucky). The standards already mentioned, Kleenexe's, q-tips, fan, lotion.

Things that I have to have but not by choice........the dogs at my feet (hopefully not on the pedal), the cat roaming around annoying the dogs, and last but not least, hubby in the next room snoring away! (thank heavens for noise cancelling headphones!)
EXACTLY! Ya gotta do your time sm
in this business to get anywhere. ESLs, crummy specialties and all the rest go with the job. You can't pick and choose you have to be determined to learn it all. Then you don't have a hard time getting and keeping a good job and the ESLs won't freak you out!
No time right now, gotta go....sm
I'll have to get back to this thread later....maybe....see ya. :D
You know, just gotta have something to gripe about
Having those reports pulled then DOES NOT MEAN we do not get feedback on certain reports OTHER than those times. I am really sorry to see others on this board who are so unhappy, hate their jobs, and otherwise just in such self-pity. If people unable to do VR at a rate to where they cannot make more than minimum wage, then past time for a new job.
Just a vent.

I have a note (discharge summary) that is 27 minutes long, dictated by RN, that goes into such detail that it might as well be the H&P, every consult, every operative report, and every lab report rolled into 1 document.  She is even dictating  problems the patient had on previous hospitalizations that have nothing to do with this admission.  To make matters worse, she is jumping back and forth between prior problems (that aren't related) and current problems for the hospitalization, as well as listing every single lab test/values from all prior admissions and comparing them to this admission, as well as dictating the whole report for every x-ray the person ever had in this one report.  The guy came in for nausea, vomiting, and dehydration and she's dictating x-ray reports for fractured ankle and rotator cuff MRI from 2 years ago...THE WHOLE MRI REPORT.   Good gravy, missy.  It's good to be thorough, but then too much information just confuses the reader.  arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

All better now.  Thanks for letting me vent.

sorry, need to VENT.
I have been working since 5:30 on itty bitty reports - so far I'm making less than minimum wage with all the crap I have to waste time on in the headers etc.....and my back is killing me.

I hate wasting my life like this.
OT: Cat vent!

I've already had enough problems working this weekend with technical problems and down time and now that I'm breezing away and making good money, what happens?  My stupid cat decides she needs attention!  First she rubs on my leg and purrs (so far so good, not really a distraction) but THEN she has to move to look at my face through the crack in my desk where the drop down keyboard rests and reach her stupid little paws through, hit the function key that saves and closes the report (which I cannot alter once it is sent through) on a report of over 100 lines!

ARRRRRGH!!!  I was almost finished and needed to spell check it!!!  That just cost me $10.  Her food costs that much!

Anybody wanna a free soon to be hungry cat??

d~

need to vent
Is his boss willing to make things right by paying your husband's back salary for the months that he was unemployed? If so, I think hubby should consider going back to work for them (while searching for something else that pays better than what he is making now).
Need to Vent Out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so mad at these big companies.  I know this is has nothing to do with my job as a medical transcriptionist, but I just need to vent a little.  My husband works for the government as a meat inspector and this "BIG" meat packing company just decided yesterday that it was going to up and close with no warning to any of the employees.  It was just "At the end of the day, you will be out of a job."  I cannot even begin to express my feelings for the workers at these plants.  At least my husband still has a paycheck coming in from working for the government.  Today, he is working in a plant that is a 6 hour drive from our home.  We will probably be sent out to the east coast for relocation.  We have 2 daughters that are in high school and a 3 year old that do not want to move.  We have always lived in a very small community of 125 people in the Midwest.  My daughters are so upset and I am just mad.  How can a big company do this to its valued workers without caring?  I am just missing my husband as I know he will be detailed out to just about every state until they decide where THEY want to put him.  I AM SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would you put up with this? (Another vent)

I have worked with a company for over seven years as an IC.  I work part time and whatever work I do that morning has to be turned in at 3:00, which gives me around a six hour turn around.  I have two young kids and another account that I work on that has stats that I have to take care of too.  I have only gotten one raise in seven years, and a crappy one at that.  Every other company I have worked for gives me at least about 24 hours to get it back to them.  I am trying to get my kids ready for school and I also have other things going on at the moment.  I get an email in all caps "I NEED THE WORK NOW."  I am just so fed up with this.  I don't want to quit because the work is easy for me since I have been doing it so long, but I feel the need to put my foot down.

Don't use this to vent - I'm
simply asking a question and wondering what other people have dealt with.  No need for "??!!! and get an attorney, etc."  I know that.  I'm just asking people for thier "experience" not their "opinion."  Chill out.
Just a dh vent...

I'll try to make this to the point... ;o) My husband got bought out at the end of January so has been off work since then. His buyout will last us until about next January so for now he's enjoying the time with the kids. I on the other hand have gone from working very part-time to full-time, at home,  "just in case" and to help pay off some debt while I've got Mr. Mom here home to take care of the kids.

For the most part, he's being excellent - doing the majority of the housework, all the cooking, taking care of the kids all day. My only gripe is he sleeps in until 9:30 every day while the kids (ages 4 and 7)are up at about 7:30-8. Mind you this is spring break for the 7 yo but when it's school time he gets him off to school and then goes back to bed. The kids play pretty well on their own but if they come into the bedroom he'll put the TV on for them. This leaving them on their own w/o even getting them breakfast and/or the TV thing drives me batty. I've been a wahm since my first one was born and always made them my priority (working around their schedule very part-time), getting up as soon as they got up, rarely turning the TV on to "babysit" them, etc. I feel like he's undoing what I spent years working so hard at.

Now I get up at 5 to go to the gym and then get my work done ASAP so that I can have time with the kids later as I'm finding it very difficult emotionally to be so unavailable during the day. This is making me even more resentful of my dh with him snoozing until 9:30 while I'm so tired a lot of the time. Then to top it off, he gets hurt that I'm usually too tired to be "interested" by 10 at night and I want to go to bed early...  He supposedly understands that I'm tired but still is putting the guilt trip on me.

I know that a lot of this is my own resentments and largely there's nothing wrong with what he's doing and he needs to do things his own way with regards to the kids - I get that, but I'm still resentful. Any thoughts? Thanks for reading the novel and just letting me vent. So much for it being to the point!;o)

We all have to vent sometime
and it was just your turn. I think we have all had similar experiences with the frustration and lack of understanding by dh's about this type of work and how much it takes out of you. Good luck!
Need to vent. I'm fed up!

I am so sick and tired of day after day trying to figure out what in the heck these ESLs are saying.  I'm tired of them preventing me from making a decent line count and making decent money.  Why in the heck don't they learn English?  From this day on I refuse to make any sense of what they are saying and will type verbatim, stutters, poor grammar and all!  If the company I work for doesn't like it - then fire me.  It's about time MTSOs put it back on the docs to better themselves and NOT us!.  I've been doing this for over 6 years and it gets worse and worse.

Please do not reply with "I'm sure your ancestors were from another country, etc......"  They were ----and--- now I was born here - AND I SPEAK THE LANGUAGE.

MTSOs want to send work overseas.  Send all the ESLs.  Also, when it comes time to me "editing" overseas work --- Ha-Ha.... that will definately be my LAST day on the job!  Let the owners of the companies edit the overseas work and see how they like it.

Thanks all.

NEED TO VENT

Why on earth would a doctor prescribe physical therapy to strengthen a patient's muscles who is in the end-stages of myasthenia gravis?  Money?  A patient with nothing else to do but go to physical therapy?  I don't get it.  This group of doctors are a pain in the ***s.  One has such a high incidence of infections in his surgical patients that I cannot believe he is still allowed to practice - and this one puts everyone into physical therapy - unless they are a 4-limb amputee.  Does anyone know the # to the California Board of Medicine - because I think it is time to call them on this one - work or no work - I am sick of it.  i feel better now.
