I'd really want to know what it is you're trying to get into. That would probably go a lot of way toward making a decision. Have you really researched this? I'd suggest salary.com to see what your annual earnings would be as someone starting out. Sometimes education pays off in the long run, but sometimes it doesn't.

Can you get a decent paying job doing QA or something else in the MT field? Maybe you make more doing MT, but it sounds like you put in a lot of hours, too. You might come ahead if you look at things that way.

I would not leave the MT field to go to school without an income. I would do both.
