What do you mean by a Phillips dictation system?

Posted By: sm on 2006-01-20
In Reply to: Phillips Dictation System - with e-files

What software are you using to transcribe?

If he is using a Phillips handheld digital voice recorder, you shouldn't have any problem opening or transcribing those files with Express Scribe and a foot pedal and he shouldn't have any problem sending the files to you. They are dss files, and most wav pedals will play them.

If you mean one of the more complicated Phillips dictation "systems" and not just the recorder/download software, that might be a different story.

Phillips Dictation System

Does anyone have experience with their physician using the Phillips dictation system where they download their files and send them via email as a WAV file?  I have a doc that just bought this system and he is having major trouble getting the files to me (or to anyone else).  Is there specific software that I should have on my computer for this to work?  I'm in a panic along with him because while he is fooling around trying to figure out how to work this system, his dictation is piling up.

Thanks for any tips.

Meditech is an operating system and Fusion is voice for a dictation system

Call in dictation system

I have a digital call in dictation system that is less than 2 years old that has given me nothing but problems from day one.  It has already blown 2 speech boards and a new one has to be put in.  I purchased an insurance policy for it but the company is giving me a large hassle.  I currently have a loaner system that is also acting up.  I was wondering if anyone can recommend any Internet-based call in systems that doctors could use by calling in on an 800 number and something that is easy to use and maintenance free from my end.  I have always used a computer based call in system but it is very expensive to maintain with phone lines, etc.  I am looking to get something fast that I can have set up as a backup in case my loaner also breaks down.  I am a novice as far as Internet systems go.  Thanks for any help or information about a company that you could recommend.

Our system uses the * key to sign off a dictation. (nm)

No.....moved on to different dictation system....sm

When my PC-Dart finally crashed, I went with an Orator and now use DocShuttle and FTP site to get my voice files.

Expresiv--does anyone use this transcription/dictation system--sm
who could take some time to answer a few questions for me.
They are probably looking for a call-in digital dictation system or
if they have one in their office, a ld service for you to call in and get the dictation.

I certainly would ask and clarify what exactly they are looking for and what they want.

Good luck!
Does anyone have experience with FusionVoice by Dobley dictation system?? sm

The Orator dictation system offered by Bytescribe also works with DocShuttle. I use it as well as th

I thought the price was reasonable. You can export the files into DocShuttle so that the docs can still use the electronic signature feature. I have one facility that uses the system this way.  One doc uses the olympus DS-2300 and the other two use my call-in system.

Bytescribe Company - May Purchase Their OratorPro Dictation System - Any Input?
Does anybody have experience with the company called Bytescribe and their telephone dictation systems? I am looking into buying their OratorPro system where I can have doctors telephone in and dictate onto this system.

Thank you.
I believe Olympus is a dictation system, not a program such as Word or Meditech - sounds to me like

Dictaphone Digital Dictation Straight Talk System 7120 user manual

I had posted earlier about a manual for the Straight Talk System 7120.  If anyone has a manual, please let me know.  Apparently someone responded but now I can't find the original posted message.  Thanks!

Phillips
Phillips is ALREADY dumping MQ, found it on a web search, they are dumping like 70% of their stock in MQ
And I hear Phillips is now kicking
for making that move!
I do have a recommendation. The Phillips comes with the ability

to download twice and I would make sure I set that up.  Download to the file that will be coming to you.  Then use the backup download to a file that is totally separate.  I call it backupvoicefiles.  I have found files in the backupvoicefiles that for some reason didn't come to me in the regular file. They would have been lost if I didn't know to check this. Phillips has no explanation for why this happens. I have been most happy with the Phillips equipment especially since I figured this part out. When the girls are looking for work that he claims that dictates and I have not transcribed, I know the approximate numbers to check and have them go into the backupvoicefile folder and check to see if it is there.

Good luck.  My doctors love the Phillips better than they did the Olympus and much fewer problems.

I have the Phillips noise-cancelling ones.
I paid 30.00 for them at Walmart...they have worked well for me
A message on the Phillips board of Yahoo
I'm trying to get a feel for who they are and if they would be a good employer if I worked for MQ, and then MQ sold to Nuance.  This is PURE SPECULATION on my part.
It's the way our system is set up..
We can search to see what work is out there, and we can also search by author and see what work each author has, and even look at completed reports, which is nice when you're stuck. I love my platform.
everyone on DQS (DEP) system
not all accounts are on it yet, but most are
Can you say what system it was? nm
xx
I think it is what system you are using,
that is why I asked you to tell me more. I use eScription and 1 can believe or not but I am amazed at how the ESLs are picked up better than the English. You are using Dictaphone- I have read other posts who are on different VR system and they are not satisfied. I have loads of ESLs on my account but am happy VR is picking up instead of my having to listen to them all and trying to muddle through.
Your system allows this?
The system I work on does not allow me to 'pick' my work. I have a pool of work and it loads into my computer 3 records at a time. I have to take what I get and do what I get. Your system allows you to choose what dictations you want to do? In my opinion, that is not fair to anyone. It should be what pops up gets done by whoever reaches it first.

I would say one last thing to my boss about it, if I were you. I would just tell her that you can sit there and watch what is happening, that this one person is taking the gravy jobs, and for your boss to sit and observe it herself and do something about it. I don't see why any person feels they are better than another, to get an easy income while others struggle. I sure hope it is resolved soon for you.
For every system set up, there is a way around it..
our system recently changed to allow only ONE job to be seen and worked on at a time, which they thought would stop the cherry picking, but it has not. There is a web site where we can still view what is coming next and down the line. The cherry pickers just wait, PERHAPs doing a little job here and there, and then as soon as a very large one comes up, snap. it is gone! I hate this way of things. I certainly wish that all accounts were "assigned" accounts. Much more fair to all transcriptionists. but that is just my opinion!!!
EMR System
I just got back from a meeting at my employer's office. They've been implementing EMR and expect most of it to be up and running by March. They haven't come right out and told us (the other transcriptionis), but we may be without a job, although they haven't really said too much. Supposedly they may still need us because there are some doctors that are set in their ways and won't use it.
What system do you use? NM
b
It's THEIR dictation. They want what THEY are
dictating. If they use poor grammar, etc., that's not the MT's fault!!

Many don't trust the MT to make appropriate corrections and I can certainly understand that.

dictation by doc's
you're absolute right about the hospitals doing something about how doctors dictate and it probably wouldn't take that much effort to do it, but they're not going to do it. If the dictation is wrong, the MT will get the blame regardless.
low dictation
This is several hours of time just disappearing.
? min. of dictation per day

What is considered the average amount of minutes for 7.5 hour day.  I'm thinking 45 to 60 minutes???

PA dictation
You must be lucky! Our group had two PA's and they literally "outdid" each other to see who could dictate the fastest. I got used to them, of course, listening to them all the time but many times had to stop and look up a med to be sure of the dosage because I couldn't tell if they were dictating 5 mg. 50 mg. or whatever! They seem to have an "attitude" too; we had one female one who really thought she was hot stuff. If they were that good, why didn't they spend the extra time and $$ to go to med school???
RE; Dictation
Kept forever. Chart is microfilmed and kept. Regular transcription is kept for 10 years supposedly at hospital I worked for.
I just had a dictation where
he stopped dictating mid sentence in the chief complaint and I Iistened to silence for about seven minutes (maybe he fell asleep, I dunno) and then he says, "hello? hello?" and hangs up!  Gotta luv this job!
60 min of dictation

How long should it take someone to do about 60 minutes of dictation on average.

Thanks you.

60 min of dictation?
My own personal average is about 1 hour for each 15 minutes of dictation.
Can't help with the dictation but...

LOVE YA!

Hope that helped.

Dictation
The problem is that MTs are rarely in the workplace any longer.  When I originally started in transcription years ago, we were in-house and accessible to the doctors. I would tell the the speeders to slow down.  We had one ER doc who loved to look through reference books for words to use.  I would tell him nicely, "If you have to look it up, spell it and save both of us the hassle."  That usually worked.  But now, most of the time, they have no idea who is transcribing their work and as long as it gets done, that's all they care about.
The problem is with our system.
As a Caucasion I do feel shame for what my ancestors have done to people of other races, especially to Native Americans.  However, I cannot go back in time and fix that.  The problem now is not that people want to come here, the problem is the gravy train our government allows outsiders that do come here.  This is in no way good for the citizens of this country, no matter their original nationality.  If I wanted to become a citizen of another country, the first thing I would expect to have to do is to learn the language.  The powers that be have had a global economy as part of the agenda, and now we have it.  This did not start with the current administration.  I do not know if there is anything that can be done to help the situation at this point.  The powers that be have what they want.  If you are big business, then you can trade with anyone in any country who has the money.  If this is what they wanted, at least they could level the playing field so that we could financially compete with those who are being given a free ride.
Then she'd get back on the system with
This is so-and-so, and I got disconnected AGAIN.
Call-in system
I have an internet based digital call in system with 4 ports.  It is very simple to use. The doctor calls in and then the work is on the server, you load it with Express Scribe and do your work........If you want another transcriptionist to get work, then you just put in their e-mail address along with your doctor's key and it will automatically forward to the transcriptionist, while you still have a copy of the voice file to be able to double check the work.   I bought mine through RT King.
abcdz system
Could you please explain?
Yep, but its the Dictaphone system...
My hospital rad account decided to "upgrade" their system which supposedly would take half an hour - its now 6 hours and counting - and the docs haven't been able to dictate since noon - boy R we in for a backlog tomorrow!
Can't you log onto MQ's system and find that out?
I don't know about anyone else, but I would never stay with a company that didn't have enough work to keep me busy.
To sm, don't do it! Someone will call you and ask why you are off the system!

DOS based system
Has anyone ever worked for a company that is DOS based? I started a new job today, and their system is in DOS. To me it is really old-school, but I guess I will just have to learn.
Can you use the DOS system with Windows XP?nm
x
You can't explain it. Our system we have
set up, like I said before, does not help the people who really need it half the time. The people who can afford to build on the beach and build mansions at that, should have to rebuild themselves.

My point though is that not everyone can get out. Not everyone has that opportunity. I got so tired of hearing about it was the people's fault in New Orleans because they should have left. What do people not understand about not being able to leave if you have no vehicle? It is their local government's fault for not using the buses they had on hand.
Cerner is a pie system for MTs...(sm)
A hospital I used to work for went to Cerner about a year before I left.  It was very nice for the MTs compared to the dinosaur system we had before it.  The front office and billing I cannot say were so happy about it..and expect alot of headaches throughout your department until they get used to it.  But as far as the MT side of it..it was great.  LOVED the lil "sticky notes" you could enter on a document to bring something to the rad's attention before they could sign it off.
About system restore, sorry about that
