Why VR can not improve.....

Posted By: xyz on 2009-02-08
In Reply to: Not a threat. VR is idiocy, and a way to cut MTs pay. - That's my take.

You write...
'... And of course VR cannot do the difficult ESLs ...'

The problem is that ESL do use VR and this results in reports full of mistakes.
Put an excellent dictator on VR and the report that VR produces will be good, except maybe for the punctuation.
If only good dictators are allowed to use VR, the good dictations will go to VR and will be done fast by the MTs, and bad dictations will stay on standard transcription, for the experienced MTs.
This is the trend. Inspite of everything VR is here to stay.
Only if bad dictators stay off VR, the system can improve.

I'm sure it will be a race to improve on it!
Thanks! Learned something new!

Did your speed improve?
Did you get faster with this or is it just more comfortable? How long did it take to get used to it?

Thanks for the info!
Your line count will improve
I am fairly new myself, but have worked for two different companies and found with both of them that - believe it or not! - even the ESL and slurry speakers will become more intelligible after time.

Sometimes I can't believe that I actually understand what they are saying.

You will see your line counts go us as you become more comfortable with the speakers and as you learn more shortcuts.

good luck to you!
Any idea on how to improve quality.

This could be a spin off on another post.  I started with a national 3 weeks ago and they sent me a QA score of 95.5%.  I need 98%.  They did make a note there were no major patient care errors mostly minor errors in formatting and some omitted words.  What passes at my regular FT job won't pass at the MTSO though.  One of my errors is I forgot to put a period after q.  I wrote q 4 hours.  At my FT job that would have passed but  MTSO wants q.4 h.  It is stuff like that that brought my score down.      I like a challenge but gosh when I have already typed 1300 lines in-house then I have to come home and type some more at the MTSO.  Not as easy as I thought.

Walking will not only improve your physical health

but probably your mental health too.  You'll get fresh air, take time to smell the roses, meet your neighbors, etc.

Unfortunately I live in the county and we are 8+ miles from anything.

I don't think the present Voice Systems will improve
I believe it is best not to name names, as others have pointed out in this message board. So, instead, I will simply post the job as listed on MTjobs.com and say that the same person is posting this job as when I was bilked. 'Nuff said.

You might need to report the problem to IT. They may be able to improve it, but I'm not positive
We use Winscribe wav player when we help out other offices, and at one of them the sound was not good. After I sent an e-mail to the IT guy it seemed like he may have improved it, but that's just a theory because he didn't tell me that. Good luck.

Oh, ouch! I hope things improve soon!
That's the very reason I've never took that plunge into independent...it's just so HARD for you guys. Hats off to you for all your hard work. Good luck.
MTSO wont tell dr to improve dictation. Too

Absolutely! Wonderful hobby and your skills will only improve.
I started knitting, quit for a year when I got discouraged because I couldn't fix my mistakes easily, then went back, determined to learn the craft. For me, what was wonderful was when I automatically could recognize what was right and wrong, and fix it easily. Now, I have more yarn than I could ever use, and more projects started than I'll ever finish. It's a lifetime hobby. There'll never be enough yarn.
Turning off Indexing will drastically improve speed.
Vista loads a ton of "services" that you won't ever use so turn those off as well. A Google search will give you exact instructions on the ones you don't need.
