Holy crap...you just reminded me the first time I heard in a routine CPE the word "eeyome". That son of a gun was saying something I had SEEN a gazillion times in patient charts but never ever dicatated. Turned out he was saying EOMI (extraocular movements intact), quite a common thing to hear, but when I was just starting out--man. Harsh lesson learned! Just take it all slow in the beginning, know you are in the learning phase and you're gonna get stuck, but try to work as much out as you can by yourself before asking for help...even if that means totally taking a hit on how long you have to work for those precious lines. The internet has been a tremendous resource...how people managed without it before I have no idea! Maybe that's why some long-time MTs get so angry...kind of like before automobiles people had to walk to school, uphill both ways, in snowstorms ;-)
