I work from a laptop but when at home I have it connected to my 19" monitor. This allows for me to not suffer eye strain most of the time, but with the flexibility to take my work wherever I want to go. My regular laptop, though, has a 15" screen, so I'm guessing even for short periods the little 8-10" screens would toast my aging eyes.
