Your daughter will be better prepared for life by having a part-time job now. sm

Meanwhile, her BF will end up feeling entitled to everything she wants because she's being spoiled now. Hopefully your daughter will continue to work because she enjoys it...the money, the responsibility, the feeling of being a little grown up. Maybe it'll rub off on her BF. If not... well, rest easy knowing your kid is doing all right.

I work part time at my daughter's college sm
book store, looking for something else to do besides MT, I am bored.
Oh please, Floridians had plenty of time to get prepared.
These hurricanes were not unexpected events. In fact, there is no excuse for being unprepared as there is a specified hurricane season every year. This happens every freaking year. What part of be prepared don't you understand? At least start preparing now for next year. It's not that hard.
My daughter will followup at MCV Pediatric Hem/Onc. for the rest of her life - sm
They said that is the norm there, granted this is cancer followup and not normal yearly physicals for an adult.....she is only 5 now so she still has a long way to go. But as for their normal pediatrician, I will take them their until they graduate high school (I did the same), then onto a regular family/adult doctor.
Does anyone know if you are a part time employee for 1 company and part time IC for another can you
still claim deductions for IC on your income tax even though you are one of each.
Depends on how part time the part time jobs are.
You can do it. You just have to work out a schedule you can live with.
It's part of life
There is negativity in any job, I don't care what you make.  Unfortunately people who work at home have nobody to talk to about anything, so we post here.   I personally think it's very important for people to discuss problems with certain employers and frustration with pay and advancement.  Sure there are some people who have problems with companies and such and it's truly their own fault, but when you get a lot of postings about a particular employer, that tells you something.
Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
in your world, part of the circle of life means your cats die an early death?
When they are attacked by the neighborhood dog, get hit by a car, or picked up by someone who causes them harm and that is fine by you because they are living out their natural lives?? My cats have wonderful lives as indoor-only cats, get plenty of exercise and love, and I never have to wonder what has happened to them. Good luck to you.
full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.
I work part-time hours with full-time pay...
I made over 26,000 this year...
full time, part time, statutory
newly defined full time...

newly defined part time....(which is an added classification)

I believe statutory just was not mentioned because there is nothing new about the definition of statutory.
full time/part time/statutory
The definition of full time is new.

There is a new classification called part time.

I believe statutory was not mentioned merely because that has not changed and they do not receive PTO/benefits.
I work 1 full-time, 2 part-time....nm

Figure it's time for a update on my daughter - sm
She has 2 chemo sessions left, it's been pushed back twice due to low blood counts.  So far we have not needed any more blood transfusions (has had 2 already) but her ANC has gotten dangerously low 2 x now (her immunosuppression was in the toilet basically).  The main problem we are having now is having her maintain her weight (getting her to eat good), she is only a 1/2 pound over what she was when she was discharged 04/02/05, now at 38.5.  She is average height for a 5-y/o, looks so skinny and bony now though, pale too. Still had a good covering of hair, about 40%, until this last week, now the rest is coming out in dribs and drabs...has about 10-15% of her hair left.  New hair is already growing in, baby fuzz, like what a newborn gets, blond now though, no more red. Guess I will find out in 4-6 months what it will be. She had good weeks and bad weeks.  Chemo weeks are worse of course, she is nauseous and tired for about 3 days, then gets hyperactive a bit here and there, that is real fun (sarcasm here), drives you totally nuts, pretty impossible to work in the circumstances.  I am working a little but not as much as I would have been otherwise, some days more than others, just depends.  Pretty much back to working late at night and early morning so I have the day basically free since I have weekly trips to the hospital and whatever else that happens to be going on. This week alone she has 3 appts, but necessary to make sure the cancer has not spread. But the last week has been a good one, the two prior were not.  So I try to enjoy the good ones as much as I can with them. I'm just happy she has an older sister to play with, helps a lot. We did get some great news 2 weeks ago that Make-A-Wish is going to grant Jenny a wish, now we are just getting it set up etc. We are half-way through the process now.  My husband and I are totally thrilled with the generosity of this organization.  I sat at the doctor's crying I was so overwhelmed by it.  My FIL of course had to the fly in the ointment, he didn't think they would do it since she was not terminal......it apparently has to be life-threatening....well, she'd die in 5 years w/o the chemo, is that life-threatening enough? So I had the great pleasure of calling him today and said the "offical" interview was in the next couple of weeks to finalize the wish, the details, etc. It is really amazing what they do.  So if anyone out their donates to MAW, I want to thank you as you are making it possible for my little girl to have a wonderful wish....I will get into details when it is "official", as she has to give 2 wishes in case the first one does not pan out (she already has 2 things decided, very clear-minded for a 5-y/o). So that is where it stands for now.  Hopefully we will stay on track the rest of the Summer.......
part-time or full-time
I'm curious. Are you FT or PT? Thanks.
1 full time and 1 part time for now
I am still pretty new, so that is all I am taking on. I may take on more after I get more experience, if possible.
Not me, I have a life with no time for such stuff. nm

If you have the time to get down and dirty with some low-life bad debt,
As for me, I live and learn. Ever hear the phrase cut your losses. The more time you spend chasing down a bad debt the more loss you incur.
5 yrs is a long time for monitor life......n/m

I would be 43 and have no life at this time and wish I was making decent money, but not ;0( ...NM

And if I fight every low-life who cheats, I won't have time to work.
i don't deal with anyone without references when it comes to work. i learned my lesson and have moved on. i leave you to fight the battles of the downtrodden.
Time to switch careers. I did and life is much less stressful.

Not upset - everyone makes bad choices in their life at some time or another. sm
No one is perfect. Hopefully, someone will give you a chance and your money and time won't be wasted.

Good luck to you!
Do you ever feel as though this job takes over your life and you have to work all the time in case
there wont be work and you just keeping working and you cant get away from it and it gets to be no fun anymore. I am having a problem with that. Is it from working at home or just getting obsessed or what. I hate this. I feel like I am losing my life to it.
Part time
I work part time from home, and I graduated about 7 months ago. It fine doing part time, just don't expect to make any money.
part time
I was told I had to work 20 hours minimum and there was no maximum. Since I'm paid by the line, I could work 100 hours a week if I wanted.
Why don't you try getting a part-time job? Try
z
Don't want a part time job
I was hired as a fulltime employee; I have benefits and want to keep them. What kind of benefits do you have for parttime; not what I have now that is for sure.

We want to work. Yes it seems like we are complaining a lot but you just do not understand what is going on and obviously do not work for MQ and until you do or are in our shoes kindly do not respond to us. We are letting each other know what is going on on this board because management does not care no matter how much complaining we do.

Many of us have quit already and more and more are going out the door.

All we want to do is work and be treated like human beings and not machines.
Part-time job

I need a part time job but I can't work more than 10-15 hours a week.  Is there any such animal? Everyone I have contacted wants me to work 20 hours.

TIA

$12/hr QA, IC, part-time
will be working on VR tech, I believe. Is it worth trying?
I will look for a part time
i liked this one, but oh well, if they are taking my money......well they claim to have so much new work coming in. I don't think they are in financial trouble, just being cheap.

part-time
I know from my experience that the smaller companies do not follow the same AAMT style as nationals, rather notes are typed the way the doctor wants it. You should have some examples. Talk to someone there before you leave. I bet in the end it will be a lot less stress!!
I do part-time

I purchased a laptop mainly for when we go RVing in the summer as sometimes I receive a lot of work (on tape) from my own local account and instead of needing to stay home so I can complete it by Monday I can now go camping and work and do my work. However, at home, I mainly use my laptop for my on-line job. My laptop has more RAM than my regular PC and everything seems faster on, so I prefer using my laptop.

I am waiting for the new ExpressCard to hit the market from Verizon (or Sprint) and hope to sign up for their unlimited Internet pkg. which will be faster than the dial-up that I currently have (which is all that is available to me), then I can actually do my on-line job (live on a platform) when away from home on my laptop as well if need be. I did check with the tech dept. of the software program and was told that I could connect to their platform this way. My laptop did not come with a PC card slot, just the new ExpressCard slot that all laptops will be made with in the future (is my understanding).

Do you have any particular questions about using a laptop for work???

Part-time job
Part-time weekends at a local hospial as a unit secretary.
Part-time
Bascially trying to read docs handwriting and ordering labs, scans, etc through the computer, answering phones, helping nurses (placing a calls to doctors, ordering different tests, etc) It sounds like an easy job, but there is a lot to learn and trying to read doctors handwriting is a pain. After ordering all of these tests, and all of the medications have to be documented on the nurse's bedside for that patient. A lot of work for little pay!
Looking For Part Time
I am looking for part-time. Could that be the problem? Is there just not a need for experienced MTs right now?
I have a very part time job.
I do between 30-45 minutes a day.
$25K part time
I work around 24 hours a week and will make $25K this year. Would have been more, but I stopped trying during the summer while still working at MQ.
Part-time job

This is basically a vent--I've decided I need to look for another job.  Two months ago I took an inhouse job (4 hours per day) at a orthopedic surgeons' group with the understanding that after a period of time this could be a full-time position.  But nothing has been said lately about that.  The office is moving the week after Christmas to a newer building.  I've been told the cubicle I'll be in is still just a one-person setup.  They have another lady who comes in for 4 hours in the morning and has been doing this for about 7-8 years.

She is on vacation for 2 weeks and I'm coming in for my 4 afternoon hours.  I don't think I can keep the transcription caught up, even though the patient load has decreased some.  (This is a 10-doctor practice.)  I've wondered if I should ask to come in full days while the other person is on vacation.  Should I just wait and see how far behind I get before asking?

I don't want to burn any bridges even though I'm looking for a full-time job. On the other hand, frankly, I believe they are being cheap because the other Transcriptionist is paid by-line and, of course, she isn't paid while on vacation!  Your thoughts would be appreciated--I'm losing sleep worrying about getting so far behind.

Oh, also part-time
NM
I could use a second part-time job too...sm
I really love where I work but not enough work to make enough money. I don't quite have a year exp and most places want at least 2 years so it isn't easy to get a second job. Oh well maybe they can give me another account so I will have more work. Actually I was supposed to have been trained about a month ago for another account and I keep getting put off by the head MT who does the training. I hate to go to the owner and seem like a whiner but I am getting annoyed.
Part time IC
Dream on girl. Wouldn't we all love what you are looking for? With your experience, you could easily get a job with a company working fulltime and have the benefits also (you have that?) From what I have seen, evenings, nights and weekends is what they are looking for and many do not hire parttime anymore. Hook, line and sinker is the name of the game these days.
Part-time
I don't know why it seems employers are demanding full-time only, but have you asked any of them what their minimum line count for full-time would be? Perhaps if you explained that you could meet that in 32 hours instead of 40, they might be willing to listen?

Most places that do take part-timers tend to insist that you commit to at least 20 hours. How many hours per week are you looking for?

Have you thought about going directly to doctor's offices and such and offering your services as an independent contractor?

Good luck!
I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.
get a life, this is extensively documented. Pick up a book some time, ignorance

I did and got it....$1000 for part-time.
.
Are there any companies who pay part-time
Just wondering.
Part-time with benefits? sm

I currently work 30 hours as an IC, but I am looking for a different company that has benefits.  Are there any companies that hire part-time (30 hours a week or less) and have benefits?

Thanks so much!

Why isn't part time not working for you?

Hope you don't mind my asking why Spheris part time is not working out for you?  Thanks.  Just want to know what I could be getting into.
