The medium-sized MT service I work for is run by women, medical transcriptionists, and they don't pay that well either, 10 cpl tops but without spaces and no benefits, IC status only. Whenever I ask for a raise, she says "we can't charge the hospitals more to pay you more because they will just drop us and send the work to India". I'm looking for private accounts now.

That is what is wrong with the business. It's a woman's occupation. Men would never be treated this way or do this work. Yah i know there are 1 or 2 but...
Hey before WWII bank teller was a man's job. When the men went to war, women took the jobs and the pay went down the tubes.
We have to all stick together and I wish I could organize something. That we all just STOPPED started a sort of union and put our feet down. We are being treated very shabbily because the industry knows we want to be with our children. It's dirty and it's wrong. If we all took one week off at the same time BINGO
any thoughts?
