eBay

In Reply to: Saw part of a special on E-Bay last night... - I'd like to know how to do it!

My sister does eBay on and off but was doing it full time a couple of years ago and made probably $40K that year selling mostly popular dietary supplements.  She was able to find a distributor and then sold them at a profit on eBay.  She always tells people, watch infomercials, keep an eye on what is popular on eBay, find a distributor (I think this would be the hardest part), and figure out a competitive price.

I sell & buy on eBay. I was a MT in the cardiopulmonary dept of the hospital but needed to expand my terminology (went to nursing school in early 70s) and managed to purchase the entire 2005 ed. of the SUM program with all books & up-to-date reference materials for $0 with buying packages, keeping what was needed and reselling. This included a second Dell computer system, a dictaphone and new Infinity USB foot pedal. After completing this over the winter, I am hoping to transcribe from home as an IC. I did work for many years as a legal transcriptionist. I had to leave my hospital work due to health problems and am now on Social Security disability but am still able to do a limited amount of work from home, just at my own pace and only to earn under $700/month.

I guess I rambled on about this but my daughter and I have sold quite a bit over the last couple of years. We have our "eBay closet" where we pick up extremely cheap new items (such as we find on $1 racks) or sets after holidays. It's a fun way to earn a little extra money. She also sells her kid's clothes for way more than she would get at a garage sale. We just don't purchase large items that are hard to package & ship or are difficult to store.

Just remember you have to pay taxes on it now. Last year the IRS busted thousands of people for not reporting the income.
    Try Ebay

    Ebay.
Be sure to search for "foot petal" or "wave peddle" because you can find things cheaper with typos.

I got a brand new Stedman's on ebay for 30.00 including shipping.

You can find Dictaphone C-phones on ebay for about 200.
    EBay
I just bought a new one on EBay.  They have all different kinds and you can ask questions of the seller if you are in doubt about something.  A new Panasonic Standard Tape usually sells for about $200 new, and I was able to get a Sanyo which is a much fancier, nicer machine that usually sells for about $350-399 for the $200.  They also have used ones.  Check it out.

I needed a computer with Windows XP, and it is where I got mine. You're most likely not going to find a computer with Stedman's on it. You'll have to buy that separately.
    Have you tried ebay? NM

Yes, I tried ebay. Thanks for
the info though.  Guess I'll have to pay full price.  Oh, well.

I have about 6 different kinds.  Hubby likes his Sennheiser, but I prefer my RCA WHP 170.
    I tried ebay...
and couldn't get a program under $200.  May I ask how reasonable yours was?  Was it new or used, OEM or retail?  I am having trouble locating a new version from a seller who has more than a couple of feedback or any sells at all, so I am leary of them.  Thanks again.

I don't have any used ones that work but you might try Ebay.

I have a new Olympus 330 (I believe), which is a very very small recorder. If you're interested in it for $100, e-mail me.
    Try Ebay....
There are usually multiple MT equipment items listed there. If it's used, just read the description thoroughly to make sure it's in good working condition; check the shipping cost to make sure they aren't gouging you on that, and check the seller's feedback to make sure they're reputable.

You might be able to get a really good used one for half what you would pay for a new one.

Try Ebay.. in the $500 neighborhood there..nm

    Ebay works
I did for about two years but packaging and going to the P.O. every day got to me.  It works though.  It is a great experience.  I loved it.  If I could find a way to do Ebay selling full time, with a few coworkers I would. Im thinking about it when I relocate to NY next year, to have my sisters helping.  What I used to do, when selling on Ebay, I would go shopping and many stores that have two for one.  I would buy and keep one for myself and put the other item on sale on Ebay..I would shop at discount stores, thrift stores, Pay Less stores and then start off with minimum and before you knew it, I was getting full price for what I was selling..I used to order from Lingerie Warehouse.  OMG..the prices for caftans, teddys, etc. were so cheap in bulk..I would order about 12, 15 for one delivery..and sell them and made a profit..Also body jewelry sells well..One day, Im gonna sell again on Ebay..however, right now, Im focused on transcription (blah)..
    ebay sales
Well, my accounts were always looked at..I had soaps, body facial products and line reducers (for face), lingerie, halloween products, kitchen products..movie videos, CDs, candles, shoes (Pay Less always has two for one or one for half price), books (you can get great used books for cheap and sell them for so much more..like a used Harry Potter..you can get a lot)..I just posted them and they were looked at..what matters is how you introduce your products..you post them and then tell about them..so you need to post good things about your products, you know, pump up your product..Yes, I truly think you can quit anything else and go ebay full time..I was thinking about that but going to the post office every day and packaging the products got to me..If I had had someone to help me, I think I could have done it..Like I posted previously, Im gonna do it again, when I move back to NY next year..There are so many surplus companies, manufacturers who will sell to you wholescale..Gosh, I had so much left off when I quit.LOL..I had purses, body jewelry, lingerie, kitchenware..you name it..I gave it all away to friends and used it for myself..Just surf for wholescale companies in the net..I loved selling on Ebay, plus you meet such nice people..I met people from England, Germany and all over the USA (through emails and phone calls)..It was a great experience..What I recommend is surf for wholesale companies and when you shop, buy two for one, go to Factory for U, Big Lots, Annas Linens, always when you shop be looking for something you can sell..Buy one get one for free always was great for me..
Thanks, I will try it, guess you get what you pay for (ebay) - sm
tried to save a few bucks, $68 for it to last a whole 6-7 months. Guess I will buy it new from a computer supply company this time.
    Ebay bully
I received an email from someone saying they were going to report me to ebay if I didn't send the package immediately. I sent it on to Ebay and said sorry but I do not sell anything on Ebay, only buy at this point.
Anybody sell on Ebay? If so...
I've bought dozens of things on Ebay, only one item there.. today.. then it tells me I have a second chance offer. Not sure what this means, even after reading what it said about it. Any help appreciated !
    Cars on EBAY
I live in Georgia and already, drowned cars from Lousiana and Miss. are showing up as "good buys". Beware, once these cars are cleaned up, you will NEVER know they've been submarines in earlier lives. On the other hand, my son bought an awsome Audi out of Tampa, but that was before the hurricaines.
Try Ebay for MT references. nm

    Better off buying on Ebay.

I bought this computer and what a mess.  I was told that it was bought for her daughter just the previous year and still had the warranty.  She was going to transfer the warranty to my name.

I thought that because I used paypal I would be safe, but that is only if you buy off of E-bay.  When I received the computer, it was a whole two years older than I was told and there was no longer any warranty.  The seller conveniently died a week after I received the computer.

So, if anyone contacts you about this computer, BEWARE.

    Look on Amazon or eBay.

not sure, but you can check on ebay...
that's where I got mine. $20.00 for a brand new Infinity 9-pin foot pedal.
I bought some on Ebay for $26 ;)
You might want to check there.  The person had an ebay store and many styles and all the ones I was considering were under $30.
    Did you check eBay? nm

    What sells well on Ebay??..sm

I definitely want to do it at least for extra money.  Tried to sell a Barbie doll, but didn't sell.  Going to try some other stuff, but wondering what sells well.  Clothes?  Kitchen items?

    EBay Buyer
You don't meet the buyer. You ship whatever you're selling to the buyer. Usually there is a price for shipping that you would decide on.
Yep..try half.com or eBay for used ones. nm

    I found one for $5 on ebay-sm
with shipping, it was only about $13. It was a great deal, but I kept checking on ebay and finally this one came along. It's just like the one at the hospital with the knob to adjust angle and height and can be pushed under desk when not in use.

I still could not get used to using a split keyboard no matter how many times I would try. I was so sick of the straight ones though. Two years ago, I finally found one I'm happy with. It has the angled keys so my hands are not forced into an abnormal position to type. It is a Kensington. The link is:

    http://us.kensington.com/html/6437.html

I am also curious about the Microsoft wireless laser 4000. It looks pretty good too without going all the way to a split board. Keys are angled similar to the Kensington. I noticed the delete key is long with the home and end keys right above it. I think that might be a time saver when typing and looking for those keys. If anyone has used this one, I'd love to know how it's working out for you. Here's that link:

I actually get all of mine on Ebay..
I am usually able to get them in larger quantities and for a good price. With a dog who loves to eat them right off the headset, I have to buy in large quantities. He actually jumps on my chair and onto my desk and eats them right off.. NICE....
Look on Ebay. My MTSO says dr really want to

Have you heard about the Ebay Bully

It was in the news yesterday. The guy is still selling some stuff at ebay and he is harrasing the buyers. Thank goodness I've never encountered one, but... just curious, is anyone out there been a victim of bully in ebay?

You can buy it pretty cheaply on eBay
They sell only legal software on eBay. You can get Word pretty cheaply, usually comes bundled in a Works package.
Used PayPal for Ebay and they took out double the (sm)

money.  Have tried ever since to get the second deduction back but as yet, no luck.  Don't trust PayPal and certainly don't trust ebay anymore.

They have one of those Stenomasks on Ebay. It's funny!
It's US Marine Corps circa Vietnam era.

I bought mine on Ebay but....

I would stay away from a seller by the name of xxelaborate1xx.  He sold me the professional version 8 which is wonderful, however, he does not send you the serial # with it. He wants you to instant message him so he can give it to you, then he wants you to give him code (a fingerprint of your computer) which is a big no no!  Out of curiosity I proceeded to activate my software the way he said and my Norton alert said NO!  It was a site that wanted personal information and contained viruses.  I think pirates these CDs then tries to get access to buyers computers to get personal info such as credit info, ssn, banking, etc.  If the buyer was a selling an original copy that had not been registered yet I think thats fine.  I would just be careful with the ones that say there nothing but the CD.  Ask questions! Ask questions!

    Bought mine on Ebay

We have bought our last two from ebay.  They are sealed and nothing wrong with them.  Got them for around $10

Have you thought about trying Half.com or Ebay? I
started with Half.com and just cleared out a bunch of books, videos, etc.  They don't charge a listing fee - just a percentage when you sell your items.  They stay listed indefinitely, too.  From there I went to Ebay.  There's a little to learn, but I've done pretty well with that, too.  Just an idea.  It works pretty good for me.
