do you have a gmail account?
If so, these directions tell you how to change the language on all Google products:

If your Gmail interface is in the wrong language, take these steps to fix the problem:

1. Sign in to Gmail.
2. Click Settings next to your username at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click on the language dropdown menu, the top entry on the first tab.
4. Select your language.
5. At the bottom of the page, click the right-hand button to save your changes. If your language has been set to a right-to-left language like Hebrew or Arabic you'll need to click the left-hand button.
6. In the window that pops up, click the right-hand button to apply this language choice to all of your Google products. Clicking the other button will apply this change to Gmail only. In Hebrew or Arabic, you'll need to click the left-hand button to apply to all.

Gmail
I was using Gmail, but had a problem with my dss files being too large and would not fully download. I changed to another account, but wish I had stayed with Gmail and checked on paying for extra capacity. Now I cannot save my sent files with attachments, even with a premium account.

imho, the employer sounds...TERRIBLE! no pay raises, no paid time off? any benefits at all? unfortunately, MT used to be something one could do and be compensated well for. nowadays (after the trend to outsource and IC status with MTs settling for MUCH less than they used to make as employees, i.e., bennies!), MTs actually make LESS on average than they did in the 80s...BUT... wow, that employer you mention pays even LESS than the barest minimum i hear about. i've seen 7 cpl as starting rate, but NEVER 5 cpl! i would also want to know how she counts a line - the AAMT standard is 65 characters per line...including spaces, so it's worth your while to ask exactly how a line is calculated, and be honest: tell her you're trying to decide if you can make a decent income if you sign on with her.

there are many companies who will test you online and allow you to work online if you pass their test, and they don't start you at 5 cpl. as a contractor, you will have to negotiate line rate increases, which is no ez task. most companies will say bye-bye at that point, in my experience, no matter how good you are. but as an employee, you should be getting regular increases. the employer you mention sounds as bad as the one i worked for in the 90s, who said at a staff meeting - to which i was the only MT invited - that if she could, of COURSE she'd pay her MTs 2 cpl a line like they do in india. i felt SO appreciated!

do i sound bitter and jaded? i am! lol...

good luck in your search, and i wouldn't settle for the peanuts this employer wants to give you, and you can tell her this SEASONED mt says so!
Use Gmail or Yahoo!

I use Gmail, which has a huge storage capacity and search function (sm)

Which is why I like it.  I don't have the emails stored on my computer, just on my Gmail.  Free and I haven't even scratched the surface of my storage space yet.  Of course the actual files are saved on my work computer.  I have a monster of a work computer, so storage would not be an issue.  I have two other computers for family use.  Nobody else in this house even BREATHES near my work computer. Ha ha!

Nothing is ever sent just in an email. I zip everything up using WinZip, with password, and then attach it... For HIPPA compliance.

I do send one email a day unless I am asked to do STAT work and get it back right away, in which case separate emails are used.

Yep, google has it goin on... I really like the google earth...
Have you tried Google earth? You can type in any address, street, city, state, country, etc. and it will zoom in and show the area and then you can hit the + button and zoom right in and see the exact house, building, etc. that you are looking for.
Mainly Google; I google the known words in the phrase (sm)
That's my most frequent tactic if I don't find the word in my word books. I'll play with leaving certain words out and adding them in, in various combinations, to try to get a hit that has a word which sounds like my blank. If I get a hit, I'll Google WITH that word, and see what hits I get, and what their source is (i.e.,checking the sources out for reliability). When I say 5 sites or searches, I mean I don't often try more than 5 different combinations without a serious hit. If I get a hit, then I will spend a little more time checking that out before I give up.

If it's a drug name, I use RxList, or more frequently the Drugs.com website. Since they redid RxList, I haven't found one that has quite as good a wildcard search, but Drugs.com works okay most of the time.

If it's a place name (like when they give names of outlying outreach clinics and etc.) I'll use Mapquest and look up the city my hospital is in, then "pan out" and look at the outlying towns.

Hope that's what you're looking for. I do have bookmarks, but I find that even the ones I think I'll visit again, I waste more time doing that than with an intelligent google search. An example is the time I was looking for "banana bag." The only place I managed to find it with a degree of reliability was on a nurses' message board. I've found quite a bit sometimes on the various specialty message boards out there, but I think the quickest way to locate that is through a search engine rather than bookmarking each individual site and trying to figure out which ones to search for a particular term.
If you are having any problems validating your email addy, please email support@mtstars.com

KVMs $20-60. One internet connection. You'd have no email or a 2nd email acct for your 2nd puter.

I don't understand. I didn't get email from MT Stars, I got email from offshore people
is what I'm talking about. I'm not a liar and take offense to your insinuation.
They can send an email that goes to all MTs in one shot. I think she just means a courtesy email
would be nice. MQ is not getting any easier. My account has been picked over thoroughly when it went on DQS by ASR and I get all the remains because they only have a core group doing ASR which I think is wrong because you get all the bad dictators and it would be nice to be acknowledged that at least you know the person you can discuss problems with as they crop up. This is a big one and we have no manager anymore and no one to discuss this with at all in my office so you just sit here very day doing this work and no way to vent to someone that could offer some suggestions on this and other issues that come up to help relieve some of the stress of working this way.
Just send an email to the email link inside the post.

What is the difference between an acute care account and a multispecialty account??..nm
nm
Again, because you entered your email address, you CAN receive email from anyone, but THEY

e-mail address because it is not revealed when they send mail because we have spam protection in place.  The only way they would know what your email address is, is if you reply to the email they send you.  If you don't want to receive any email from anyone, simply do not enter your email address in the Email field.

I intended to email it- already email the mods to remove

Not through the MTStars email server. Your email address is NOT
visible to anyone.  The only way your employer would know it is you is 1) if you respond when someone emails you, or 2) they recognize the way you write.
I've never had a problem switching from account to account.
The problem I had was being switched too soon. If I don't get one account spec solidly in my memory with QA feedback on mistakes before starting another, I get confused. The other problem I had with former jobs was inconsistent QA. One person tells you one thing, another person tells you another.

Lately, I don't have a problem with it. Right now, my binder has 8 account specs (some I've never had to use) and I'm picking up a new weekend job for a while. The terminology and report formats stay basically the same. It's just all those little preferences. LOL
Thank you, Google God. My google icon is

address for a similar type of *job opportunity* today, although it was not this person's name. I can't believe the presumptiveness of some of these people! Don't they realize that they are taking jobs away from us and probably doing something illegal, to boot? I sent the email to the authorities this morning after reading it. T'd me off!
what is your account and specialty on the account?
no one is watching. tell us all about osi.
If the OP had done a google, she would have...
SEEN the answer to her question.  People need to learn how to fish for themselves.  Giving quick answers doesn't teach them a thing, and it certainly doesn't help them in the long run.  I'm not trying to berate you for offering an answer, so please don't be offended.  It is just that learning/knowing how to effectively research is a VERY important part of being an efficient and good MT.
google.com

Tia,

use www.google.com as a search engine (the best) type in exactly what you are looking for and see what you get- if you don't find exactly what you are looking for- keep searching but slightly change the search phrase.

I did google them and they are
still around $600. That is out of my price range right now. Maybe someday...
google map

yep, a totally new addiction.  I entered my nephews addy and just realized he is only 3.5 miles from the White House!  No wonder I kept seeing the Washington Monument every time we got on that nightmare highway system

Go look at your favorite amusement park like Cedar Point in Ohio...you can actually see the roller coasters in 3D!

Google? If Google, just go to google.com
and download their toolbar. They usually have several options! Happy Googling. If its goggling, I can't help you!
Google

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Could anyone explain the Google page to me?  I mean the "Google" header with the cat and mouse.  I usually enjoy their little embellishments for the different holidays, but I can't figure out what this is supposed to be.

I had to Google your
phrase, as I was not familiar with it. Now that I know, all I have to say is...'I resemble that remark'...
That is a Google ad.

I have been using Google Suggest to narrow down search results.

GOOGLE
i like Lycos.com
Google

Does anyone know of a site like Google that transcrptionists can use for researching.  I have always used Google, but lately it seems to be getting slower and slower, plus they have a Pop-Up status on that is driving me crazy and can't get rid of.

TIA

Google
Google "radiology terminology" and you will get some sites.

I've had the book Stedman's Radiology and Oncolocy Words for over a decade and it's my bible. There are newer editions. When in doubt in the middle of a report, I Google the word/phrase/drug I'm looking for if it isn't in Stedman's.

Good luck!
Google
I found my current job with a small MTSO by a Google search for "medical transcription" followed by my state.
I went on google and put in--
complaint form sample and it came up with all kinds of things. some of them you pay for, others you don't. you just have to read and find what is right for you. good luck!
google
I use Google and mine seems fine.
Google.
I typed in Lanier LX-219-1 with VTI  and got lots of hits. You should be able to find something.
Google it.

Have you tried to Google this?
I always check Google before posting questions like this on the board. I just checked it before posting this answer and there are lots of hits. Try looking at some of them and you may find the answer you're seeking here. Good luck.
did you google? NM

I think that's ok....also from google
Vibration sense was tested with a 128-Hz tuning fork. .... were left-right flipped to correspond to the other patients with left-sided anesthesia. ...

Google

I also Google the name...just type in the doctors name, and then the state that they are in, and it usually brings up their address.  I don't know if anyone posted this one or not, but here is the link to one that I use also...
