First of all retarded is not a medical term.  Just like a poster recently asked about the word pallorous a doctor made up.  Everyone please read the following article:

http://mscyprah.newsvine.com/_news/2008/04/24/1449853-is-the-slang-use-of-the-word-retard-or-retarded-discriminatoryhttp://mscyprah.newsvine.com/_news/2008/04/24/1449853-is-the-slang-use-of-the-word-retard-or-retarded-discriminatory

The author does an excellent job of describing why this word is so horrible.  The point I was trying to make above is that we do police doctors all day, we make changes to their poor English all day.  I see nothing wrong with leaving something blank that is incorrect such as the use of this word or calling the patient foul names.  We don't get marked off for blanks unless they are excessive because we aren't researching actual medical terms.

It may not be our jobs as MTs to protect the doctors or teach them right from wrong but IMHO, we as human beings should not be so passive in allowing this to continue.  By being subtle and leaving a blank we are flagging this to the doctor that they might want to think before they speak.  Again this is my opinion which I am entitled to and nobody has to agree with but please guys let's be respectful of others opinions on here.
