I'm not going to bash you, and the other posters didn't need to be rude -- but seriously, you're not doing your dogs any favors, or yourself. My ex-mother-in-law used to let her miniature poodle do the same thing, and I'm sorry -- it's just gross. Other than that, she was a very neat person. She was practically obsessed with keeping her house clean, to the point where even if one coffe cup was used, it was washed immediately. But yet she would let her dog potty inside on papers/potty pads. And, again sorry, but as soon as you walked in their house you couldn't help but smell pee/poo. Maybe you've just gotten used to the smell but believe me, others will definitely notice. It's just gross.

All dogs need to be able to go outside to potty, get exercise, even just to get fresh air. I strongly suggest taking your pooch to the vet to discuss his hiking problem and to get your vet's opinion on the whole pottying indoors thing. Yuck.
