I thought it is mainly caffeine and some herbal stuff like taurine, etc. I think it tastes like Flintstones vitamins. I usually use the sugar free version and it definitely makes me more awake and alert. Don't know if it's actually bad for you, but energy drinks are usually pretty highly acidic.
