Or how about just a circuit around the house a couple of times?

I worked graveyards at hotels for years.  When it got really bad I'd get up and walk around the lobby, or get the security guard to watch the front desk for me so I could walk around the hotel.  Or do jumping jacks, or do something like an 8 minute Billy Blanks video.  Just something to get your blood moving again.  I have an elliptical machine that I'll get on for a minute or two or three in the middle of a shift just to get my blood going and to get some circulation to my hind end.

The other alternative is how about actually taking a 10 minute power nap?  Do you take a lunch or dinner break in the middle of your shift?  Get a little alarm clock you can set and put by your desk and just close your eyes for 10 minutes.

I had a brutal schedule for a number of years where I worked 8 am to 5 pm at one job, went home and took a nap then went to the hotel at 10:30 pm to 7:30 am, went right back to the other job until noon.  Then went home and passed out (hopefully) to go back to work at the hotel that night at 10:30.  On that first night, I'd sit in my chair around 3 am when it was the quietest and my work was done and just take a nap.  I'm really good at sleeping sitting up.  The security guard knew not to bug me between 3 and about 3:45.  I found that if I got a 30 minute nap then I was good to go for another several hours.

Good luck. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Got that right! Drop the sugars & high carbs and exercise a few times a week. Gotta

IT only takes me a couple times...
of eating out and  then I like  my own cooking again. Most restaurant food is too expensive, the portions are  too big and it tastes like it was made with no love! Maybe a cookbook with easy recipes would be the answer to the blahs!
I've had it a couple of times.
Doctor gave me a sheet of exercises to do on my own which just amounted to moving my head and/or eyes around in different positions.  It can be just a horrible thing to have.  Yours is probably worse than mine if you have to "have therapy."
tried doing that a couple of times, still didn't help - sm
thanks for the suggestion. I guess the other thing I should mention is that it is not happening on my other laptop that I use for all hospital work, just my private laptop.

any other ideas as to what it could be??
Did it again a couple times and worked now!!! Thank U!!
so much!! :)
Let your fax machine answer a couple times.

no comprende!  *lol*
Yes, I'm a smoker. Have tried to quit a couple of times but can sm
never seem to get it done.  Would love some to hear success stories and how people have quit.  HELP!
Task bar. I do this by accident a couple of times a year

and I fix it, but can't figure out what I've done to fix it.

I have my task bar at the bottom of my screen usually, but now it is on the far right and I can't figure out how to get it back on the bottom.  I know you normally click and drag, but I can't get it do down, just side to side.   I even push the down arrow but that doesn't seem to do it either.

Friend works out of Monrovia - after a couple of times (sm)
of not meeting her quota they called and "chewed her out". Nothing was said about taking benefits away.
A couple of times a year the suits post as
an MT.  I used to work for SS and they were so bad that I can't imagine them fixing all the problems in my lifetime.
ask if there is a charge for local calls. I have had this happen a couple of times. I take an egg
xx
I power nap for 20-25 minutes a couple times a week - just depends
others I don't. But 2-2:30 is usually my time to have no energy, so it is nap time -- I find when I do this I can stay up later and work, on days I don't I have to go to bed by 10 or 11.
Best advice - work in-house a couple of years
You really do need hands-on experience in order to be able to do this at home. You will run into terms that you will have no idea how to look up - like "booj aw boo" would you know to look under bougie au boule? Or "terry onal craniotomy" would you know it is "pterional" or would you spends loads of time looking for "T" words? If you work face to face with experienced MTs, they can help you when you run into similar situations. I'm not being snooty, I am only pointing out real situations that you will be faced with and the reasons MTSOs insist that before an MT can work independently at home they have at least 2 years experience. I believe that most of us have worked in-house in the beginning to get to the point where we can do this efficiently at home. Once you do get that experience, though, stand back, the MTSOs will be beating down your door with job offers. Good luck and hang in there! Remember we all had to start somewhere. Best of luck to you!
EXACTLY! Ya gotta do your time sm
in this business to get anywhere. ESLs, crummy specialties and all the rest go with the job. You can't pick and choose you have to be determined to learn it all. Then you don't have a hard time getting and keeping a good job and the ESLs won't freak you out!
No time right now, gotta go....sm
I'll have to get back to this thread later....maybe....see ya. :D
I watched it both times and couldn't believe it either time.
I really doubt they let them do actual work. It was probably practice stuff and just made them do X number of minutes of dictation or x number of hours and they just had to muddle through and type whatever they thought it was. I saw a few lines of what the husband typed and it made no sense from what I saw, so I think they just had to put in the time and guess, just to get a feel for what she does.
CMT is a waste of money & time. Times are different in the MT

industry anymore and having a CMT doesn't make a hill of beans difference. Companies are going to pay what they want to pay. Having a CMT isn't going to get you anymore money.  That's a fallacy.  There was a time when having a CMT would have gotten you a little better pay but those days are LONG gone. Save your money because that's all AAMT wants.  AAMT are big corporation suckups, offshore suckups, and will suckup to anyone or any company that has BIG BUCKS!  AAMT care NOT about the American MT, which became crystal clear with the announcement of their upcoming name change.

Sorry even if you are slow, 200 to 400 times per hour - no time -- NM
??
I've done it a couple of time to a nearby state SM
and a bunch of times to a nearby relative when my house was temporarily unlivable. My company loaded the programs on my laptop for me (but with a previous employer we did copy them from home when I wanted to try working on my new laptop).

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, and a little electronic doohicky that allows my laptop to work off somebody else's computer (unfortunately I don't travel enough to justify subscribing to my own mobile service, so I could work in the car for instance).

Anyway, it's an easy matter these days. After loading the programs I've never felt a need to bother my employer with details of just where I'm working, and they've never displayed any interest either. I did buy a little $20 folding table from Office Depot so I could set up where and at a height that suited me.
You're very welcome!! I had a great time, too! Took a couple of extra BP pills!!
You have a great weekend!!!  MomMT - where did she go?? Too much cookies and milk, maybe?  Bye, Guys!!
I personally will NOT spend too much time looking for a word. I listen 3-5 times if I still don'

it goes to the QA.  I am getting paid 5-8cpl, depending upon the account, as an IC and don't have the time to spend too long looking.  If I can't find something in 15 minutes I'm done.  If I got paid more I might take more time to look, but at these line rates no WAY!

I also get no feedback from QA, or very rarely.  We have one QA who is rude and puts down the MTs at every turn.  It isn't easy for the MT either.  If you aren't even listening to the dictation how do you even know WHY the MT didn't get the word, maybe the doctor is a total mush mouth and our ears are bleeding by the time we got to that word.

I've been doing it at home strictly full time for a couple of monts, but
I have 6 years of inhouse exp where my duties was divied up with other admin work and 1 1/2 years on and off exp doing it as an IC at home....so again, I'm no rookie....which is what is frustrating. My oldest is on sprnig  break, so if I haven't been fired by next week, hopefully I will get better by then.

I learned along time ago: My house, my rules. sm

I have been through the wringer, trying to keep my two older kids away from "bad influences."  But I have learned.

When they were younger, I simply said, "You can play with so and so outside, but he's bratty.  If he gets bratty outside,  he'll have to go home."

When they were teenagers, I simply set the "House Rules".  Abide by them, or out you go.  Funny thing was, the friends were more compliant than my own kids. :)

If my older kids brought a friend over to stay the night because he/she was "fighting with mom/dad,"  I'd say, "Sure you can stay, but not until you call your mom or dad and tell them you are here and that you aren't going anywhere and that you are safe for the night."

I heard on occasion, "Didn't your mom say NOT to do that?"  I guess I had more "control" than they had at their own houses and they felt good about having some limits.

My son who FINALLY moved out at 19 had a few new friends that came over one night and, as they were leaving, they said,  "We'll be back around 10:30!"  I said, "Sorry guys, this place closes at 10:00 on weeknights."  They didn't come back.

I have 2 younger ones, 14 and 10.  We have a pool.  My pool rule?  No towel, no towel.  You can swim, but you can "drip dry."

Funny thing is, I've collected well over 2 dozen towels in the past 2 years that I have no idea where they came from.  If it were me, the minute my child came home, I would have said, "And where is my towel?"  Some parents just don't stay on top of things, if you know what I mean.

Glad you had a good time. We just hung around the house.

My "techies" come to the house and most of the time get it fixed here. They built the computer
:}
When I took a business trip one time, I came home to an immaculate house.
Then during the next few weeks, I couldn't find certain things like clothes, dishes, and items I kept on the counters. DH had decided to put all the dirty stuff out in the garage where the babysitter couldn't see it because he was embarrased by the mess he and the kids had made. There was mold and mildew on everything because he taped it inside boxes or stuffed it inside coolers, and he forgot to tell me about it.
You work full time, manage a house and cut 11 acres? No way man! Not me :)
NM
Or discpline time! My kids would be very sorry if they threw things at me or in the house. Two hours
is not too long for them to give you some space.  That's really sad for you, but maybe try to rein them in.  Can't hurt, right?
Sounds like the Marines at your house! I'm really glad you "schedule" some quality time wi

your kids!  I think you are way harsh with your 15-year-old stepdaughter.  What's wrong with helping with homework?  Not giving her the answers, but sitting with her and explaining things?  I help my 14-year-old with his homework and I check everything he does for errors.  If he makes mistakes, I sit down with him and explained what he did and have him do it over.

As fars as my kids getting up on their own - my kindergartener gets up without the aid of an alarm clock because she is an early riser, but my teenager has to be gotten up and personally I don't see what is wrong with that.  They are TEENAGERS!

My kids have chores and earn an allowance each week.  They must keep their rooms clean.  My son takes out the garbage, cleans the bathroom, and helps me do the dishes.  My daughter takes turns helping me do the dishes and sweeps the kitchen floor and feeds the animals.

My kids are spoiled, but what's the point in being a working mom if you can't spoil your kids every now and then?

I have 2 middle age couple friends. One couple became pregnant from condom failure.
This is not just "irresponsible" behavior! Both couples are "fixed" now, because for them, reliable birth control was NOT. But it's an error to assume this stuff happens to people who are unmarried or irresponsible. Both these couples are raising 2nd families, now, but it wasn't "irresponsibility" that did them in!
Who had time to read?LOL I only get a chance to read This Old House once in a while. (nm)

MQ - I gotta tell ya
MQ is okay to work for..I have worked at many inhospital positions and transcription company positions and MQ is no worse than other companies I have worked for..
Gotta see this
Go to TheFreshAirShop.com. This is not a scam.
DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO!! RIGHT ON!

Just gotta say...lol.
I live outside of Madison, so been there done that, lol
Gotta be ham.
We have ham and lots of sides.
you gotta be
kidding! 90??
I just gotta say...
sometimes saying "ain't" just feels good... sort of like letting off a good swear word (fiddlesticks just doesn't do the trick)... when I'm feeling rebelious saying I AIN'T gonna do something feels way more satisfying than saying I'm not going to
gotta ask

Okay, this makes sense.  So what about people who live near the poles who have extended hours of darkness?  Will they rule Alaska at being high risk?  I knew a woman who had lived there in the service and she said she did her gardening at 2 AM because it wasn't dark.  They adjusted.

Personally, I work better at night and sleep better during the day.  I am sharp at night and can produce way more.  I can sleep deeply, restfully during the day but not at night.  I seem to be the opposite.  I've been this way since I was a kid.  Maybe I came out of the womb too late in the day!!!!

gotta tell you this one

My neighbor retired from Magnavox forcefully when they left and went to Mexico.  He said there is a law that if a part is missing, they don't have to pay the import tax, so they purposefully ship their items with a knob missing!  It really ticked us off this happens.  It wasn't this administration that started this whole thing either..I won't get into a politics discussion because everyone's beliefs are their own, but just doing a little research will show it.

I also have an aunt whose husband retired from Ford and she said they got a letter if the company does go under, she will lose her little pension check and all her medical benefits.  I've seen these companies go under then suddenly appear again once they've stopped all former benefis, which is a crock IMO.  Seems like now it's back to the old way, everybody has to stay in the same house and everybody work just to get by. I don't know how minimum wage people make it.

This has gotta be a put-on, right?

One of us is just yanking everybody else's chain with this 'I am most wonderful and experienced MT but I don't speak it the language' lingo?  Come on, are we on Candid Computer?

War of the Worlds -- You gotta see it!!

I just saw it tonight....FABULOUS!!  I admit I was skeptical because on Rotten Tomatoes (the website I go to see critics' notes first) it was falling and there's been ups and downs about it...AND because as much as I have always loved Tom Cruise he has really gone off the deep end in my opinion.

However, the movie was fabulous.  I remember the old black and white movie too.  Tom played his part incredibly; as did the little girl (forget her name); and Tim Robbins, too.  Really was something.

Go see it!

Sorry.....gotta say my husband, especially when I see
him throwing ball with my son or reading a book to our little girl.......then 10 minutes later when he's leaving his dirty clothes in the bathroom, I could just kill him.....LOL.
You gotta hear this!
nm
gotta laugh
I was actually a triple-D which is an F before I had reduction surgery. So was my daughter who also had the surgery!
Gotta say I agree with above. I was in the same
position one time. I was in my late 20s, married about 10 years, and my husband showed VERY little interest in my. No "I love you," no kissing, very little sex. I started "talking" to an older man who told me he loved me, etc. Anyway, never went further than talking on the phone, but it's something I regret to this day, almost 20 years later. I feel like I was just as unfaithful as I had slept with this man.
