If it's strep, you'll need to go to the MD. (sm)
Last time I had a a fever and sore throat I went in to work, but I could barely work, so I left early to go to an urgent care. I couldn't go to my regular MD because they were closed for bad weather, so it blew half my day having to wait in the urgent care. But I did have strep throat, so I didn't feel bad leaving early. So get an appointment and call in and tell them you'll do your best until your appointment. Then you can get started on meds ASAP. If you can work after your appointment, then work. But if you are worn completely out, call in and let them know.
I agree that we can often work with many illnesses, but strep throat with a fever of 102 is pretty rough.
