Good advice...Iams is junk food anymore....
It used to be good, but it's gone by way of most of the rest of them...  Anything that can be purchased in a grocery store is garbage.  I recommend Wellness, Innova, or California Natural.  Only pet stores stock premium dog foods.  However, Labs and GAS seem to go hand in hand, having owned 2 of them.  Rice and some boiled chicken mixed with a good healthy kibble might help.
Those are great ideas, but I think the food banks
and churches are probably not going to want to be so eager to help since the OP owns 5 houses.  Her best bet is going to be to be extremely frugal at low cost markets.
Food stamps, WIC, food banks, churches, family...
There are many answers to that problem.

No one has the right to steal and writing a dishonorable check is stealing. It is called "theft of property".

My tax dollars support government programs to prevent people from going hungry and to provide for women, infants, and children. I make donations to food banks and churches, etc., for those who just need help as well.
Food for the staff and doctors, if you can afford it. Food is always a big hit in a doctor's off

One of the biggest perks I can remember when I worked in a doctor's office was when the drug reps or orthopedic equipment reps would cater lunch for the whole office just so they could meet with the docs.  The whole office would get so jazzed at the idea of free lunch.

If you can't afford to cater lunch, then I would do something like a muffin basket and bagels always go over well.  But food is your best bet.

Really???? I miss 'burgh food. Philly food is okay, but it

The food is resturant quality food and very good

MQ pity parties

Why don't one of you MQ whiners start a blog so the rest of us with the good sense NOT to stay with a crappy company don't have to see your "poor me" posts.  It is not that we read them, it is just a pain to have to navigate around them.  If you don't have the sense God gave a goose and leave a company that treats you so shabbily, then you deserve to be there.  Just don't subject the rest of us to your pity parties.  Someone start a blog, where you can all go and whine to each other, while your kids "starve".  Btw, if your kids were starving, it would be your faults for not getting a job that would buy your groceries and pay your bills.

Brandi throws the best parties....

We did used to have a wild time.  I absolutely love TQ now that it is no more.  I used to have so much fun and got paid to do it.  Man--I was making $ hand over fist--bought my house--paid cash for all my furnishings, etc.--worked my @*#% off but it was great!!

Our block has parties a lot that go well into the night. sm
They have even had a couple of bands come and play. This was a problem last year for me because I needed my sleep and worked weekends. This year, it will be nice since I now work nights. For a short street, it is really lively.
who hates candle parties?

I hate Pampered Chef parties and all those that I get invited to where it is really about me paying for junk.

Who else hates these things?

Anyone going to any Harry Potter midnight parties?

No midnight parties here, but love the books!

I've only seen the first one at the movies, but I'm not much of a movie or TV person.  More of a reader. Can't wait to get the book to add to the collection.  Started the collection with my son who has lost interest at 15.  He looks like Harry though.  He went to the playground one day when he was 12 (dark hair, little round glasses) and all of the little kids were screaming, "It's Harry Potter!  It's Harry Potter!" and running after him.  He said, "MOM, IT WAS AWFUL!"  He now has contact lenses and he put his magic wand away.

Xmas parties where the Prez gets silly,

company-covered bar tabs, having someone come and listen to your blanks, staff meetings, being able to look someone in the eye, your supervisor inviting everyone over to her house for brunch on Sunday. Having the choice whether to work in the office or work at home.

The downside? The typical problems working with a bunch of women. Then there was the fact that I was not a social butterfly and didn't like the endless requests for money to fund birthday, wedding, baby, sick, divorced, married parties, Tupperware, Chef this, Southern that yadda yadda yadda fests. The lunch you were so looking forward to no longer being the in fridge, but the wrapping is in the trash. A favorite reference book being found on someone else's desk at the other end of the hall. And she smokes. Ergo, your book now smells to high heaven because she sneaks her smokes in the office during her late night shift, and her nasty, smelly fingers have been all over it (only a nonsmoker will understand how awful this).  And she claims she doesn't know HOW the book got there when you ask.

Would I do it all again? In a heartbeat.

they always have and always will have hurricaine parties and joke about death.
I grew up in hurricaine country - there are folks who would much rather die at home.  I do not understand it, but I know that its true.
Is this beauty control? I use to sell, but never did parties. SM
I had my opening party, but that was it. I served the food at the table in the kitchen. Everyone just helped themselves and then sat in the chairs I had out in the livingroom to eat. Once we got started, everyone pretty much disposed of their plates and then settled in. I think it worked out good. I had everything ready when they showed up, but I think that everyone pretty much waits until other people get there before they start eating. I would definitely offer drinks when they get there though.

The menu sounds great, so don't worry about that. Seems like a lot of variety for them to choose from.

Don't be nervous...just relax and enjoy it. That's the purpose of the spa party :) Good luck!
There were in-house parties, donuts, 40 work week.
dd
I guess I'm the odd ball; I LOVE going to home parties! sm
But on the other hand, I HATE shopping. I do the majority of my shopping from home parties -- Lia Sophia (sp?) jewelry, Tastefully Simple (a fave), Pampered Chef. I'm waiting to go to a Southern Living Home Show but haven't been invited to one yet.
I hate any of those "obligated to buy junque at a party" parties
x
Don't mind candles, Pampered Chef, or Tastefully Simple. HATE Mary Kay parties! nm

Saw him on CMT show with John Fogarty. Great, great singer with a neat personality and drop dead
gorgeous without seeming to know it.
Great post. I swear by both Advantage and Frontline Plus-- both work great! - sm
I don't know about "natural" approaches for the house. I have always used flea bombs in the past before the miracle of Advantage and Frontline changed my life. Have not had a flea problem at all since I began using those products about 10 years ago, dose all the dogs religiously once a month with the Frontline Plus except in Dec.-Feb. to save a few bucks and because the ground is generally frozen by then and no fleas are scurring about. -- Hope you get flea free soon.
Dog food
Try switching to a better dog food, such as Nutro. Also at her age she deserves all the best in life and I would even consider giving her a meal once a day of chicken and rice or beef and rice, very inexpensive also. The table scrap thing, although stated by the vets all these years, is a bunch of bunk in my opinion. Dogs like a varied diet just as humans. Just so long as it is whole natural foods, not processed. You would love you to death to give her this small pleasure at her age. Good luck.
I think it has less to do with food....
and more to do with activity.  I'm 45 and remember eating Ring Dings and chips and all kinds of junk food back when I was a kid.  Granted we hardly ever had fast food, but moms back then didn't exactly cook according to Weight Watchers.. We had spaghetti, meatloaf, fried chicken, all that good stuff.  However, what did we do in our spare time back then?  WE PLAYED OUSIDE!  We didn't have organized activities or play dates, we just went outside and played, all day long if we could.  I remember being dragged in at dusk because I didn't want to stop playing, riding bikes, skating, etc.  What are kids doing today?  Sitting on their rears watching movies and playing X-Box.  Maybe that has more to do with childhood obesity than diet.  Food for thought anyhow.
food?
AMEN to the mexican food and margarita!
food
Baked beans - 1/2 cup is considered a serving and for the hash browns, 4 ounces would be considered a serving. You can add or substract from this to make it come out. Better to have a little bit left over than not enough at all. Good luck
I do like his food. nm

And what about pierogies?..lol..yes, Primanti Brothers makes a pretty tasty sandwhich. :)

..I meant for this post to go under the pittsburgh post..thanks.
food
I totally agree. Also, I just got an awesome recipe that is a dip for fruit. I would get a fruit tray and make this dip. I took it over for a July 4th cookout and it was a hit. It's best with strawberries. Anyway, the dip is one 8oz package of cream cheese, one 7oz jar of marshmallow cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. You can even add food color to it if you want to.
Food lol
I have some doctor friends/clients and once in a while I book a traveling coffee place for them. Then they can get coffee, hot chocolate and muffins or something that they can pick out.
More food
I think it's a lot like illegal immigrants taking away our work, but this way they didn't have the moving expense of immigrating!
do you ever wonder anymore when they say
they 'lost the account' if it went to VR or somewhere else?  Was it an easy account?

Perhaps you just need to get used to the new one.  That happens to me, I panic on new accounts, and then after doing them a few weeks they are just as easy...

Sorry to hear you are losing money, though.  That can never be good when that happens to one of us...
No. I do not believe so. Not anymore.
i know too many companies who suck too bad.
Do they pay much anymore? (sm)

I've seen a few ads, one I saw yesterday paying a whole $25.00 for each audio tape.  The audio tapes were each one hour.  Puleeeze!

So if it took you 3 minutes to do their 1 minute, you would make a little over $8.00 an hour.  That is if their recording is good enough to understand.  If it took you 4 minutes to their 1 minute, you would make a little over $6.00 an hour.

I used to, but not anymore. sm

I went to Wal Mart at 6 a.m. (only because I was already up) a couple of years ago and people were literally fighting in line to get to the door.  I got in my car and went home. All I wanted was a 13 inch TV that was on sale, but figured it wasn't worth it.

I went back the next day and asked a salesperson if there was any chance they might have any of those 13 inch TV's left and he said, "Oh heck yes. We have hundreds of them out back. How many would you like me to go and get?"

Well, I just had to buy 2.

Not anymore
Just a couple of weeks ago it got hacked and let through all kinds of worms/viruses.
Not anymore
I used to type verbatim and thought that was the way it was suppose to be as an MT until I was told that I needed to correct grammer, punctuation etc. from the company I work for "which is part of being an MT and not just a typist". So, since I was "informed" of how things were I make changes if necessary.
Don't cry anymore...get out as soon as possible.
Please follow the advice that has been written here in this thread... You've given this man (?) every chance.  I wasted 7 years of my life to an alcoholic who was selfish, could've cared less about his sons, and all the while, I was hoping and praying that he would change.  As a matter of fact, I gave him an ultimatum, and he is the one who left.  It was a Saturday, I cried all day, didn't have a job, never had a job, what was I going to do?  Well, come Monday, I went to the Welfare Department, got an emergency check, and by Monday afternoon, I was singing, dancing around, thrilled, and my kids had not seen me that happy all of their young lives!  Really sad when I think about what I let them go through!  It is not fair or healthy for the children, and to think I cowered until HE made the decision.  After I left the welfare office, I thought how easy it was, and why didn't I do this sooner. Then, when I got my bearings, I went out into the big world and started working, scraped of course, but life went on, and the kids and I were happy.  As the old saying goes, you have nothing to fear but fear itself.  Please do this for yourself, but especially your children.  God Bless You and give you strength.
yes, but not bad anymore.
it took numerous dermatologists to even get it diagnosed right. But mine itches fiercely. Used to have to take anti-itch meds orally. I have a mild case right now on my hand and legs. Years ago, had an Rx specially cococted at the pharmacy. The only component of that I recall is urea. Avoid hot water and soaps as much as possible. Other than finding a GOOD dermatologist, I'm afraid I don't have any advice to offer though.

from someone who does not have Mom anymore
I don't have my Mom around anymore and so with this in mind what I can suggest is time, do something with her, make time for her and make her feel important.   Give her your undivided attention.  It only has to be a lunch, a drive somewhere with lunch but most of the time all they want is time with their children.  Just like when we were children and wanted their time and attention, now it has come full circle and they want our time and undivided attention.   Even if you don't get along that well with your Mom, try it and see if it works.   Wish I had more time with my Mom and there were times we did not get along but would love one more Mother's Day.    Just a thought.
Not anymore, but I was 24 when I got into MT, 34 now. nm

Used to like her, but don't anymore (sm)
I agree.  Who cares what her favorite things are?
Not anymore!
Happened to me too. I now work for a company that charges the hospital by the minutes dictated, so even when they do change their minds, I'm still getting paid.
I don't SR anymore but
I really liked it when I worked at the Q. The complaint that you can type it faster than edit it never applied to me because I used to be reading and editing way ahead of where the dictation was. After a while, I learned to interpret some of the garbage ASR put in and would change it before it was even dictated. So I was actually editing faster than it was being dictated. I am not sure I explained it well, but no way I could have typed it that fast.
it's sad that nobody ever says thanks anymore
I might catch and correct literally hundreds of mistakes in any given week, but if I happen to miss one - THAT'S the only thing I'll ever hear about.

not anymore. nm

But with dropping food - SM
You run into more logistic problems. First of all - it's got to be dropped in a place where people can get to it, it's gotta float, and it must be waterproof.

Unfortunately, too, you run into the problem of distribution, with the people reaching the bundle first possibly hoarding supplies for themselves rather than sharing them out.

IMO, there's a certain amount of Monday-morning quarterbacking going on, but NO ONE wants this situation prolonged. They're working like heck out there.
Thank you! This is weird about the food. sm

My son has chronic eczema. He had so many food allergies when he was small. We were told he would "grow out of them" and, for the most part, he did. His major allergy was, and probably still is CORN.

Now everything you buy has corn syrup or cornstartch or corn something in it. Even the dyes in Kool Aid have a scientific number, which is actually a corn biproduct of some sort.

As you can see, I have done my homework about corn. My first time shopping for him "corn free" a decade ago took me almost 3 hours.

Unfortunately, cold weather aggravates his eczema and we live in the Northeast.  He has  been to the best dermatologist  in the state and has 4 meds that keep it under control. However, he's 15 and he goes and eats pizza with his friends (no pizza sauce ever made without corn syrup - you have to make your own out of tomatoes). McDonalds, etc, everything is loaded with it.  I only found 1 local breadmaker that actually has white bread without corn syrup in it.

MT:Working for Food
Next thing you know we will be working for Food.
Just tell yourself all of that is just food in a different form. lol sm
Seriously, though, just put in your contract you don't do toilets, the same as some don't do windows.  I bet there are people who would rather get other things done, and would be willing to do that themselves, especially if the price was just a tad bit lower.
