Commas for basic med list:

Paxil 20 mg p.o. b.i.d., iron 325 mg p.o. daily, aspirin 325 mg p.o. daily.

Semicolons for complex med list:

Prednisone 30 mg for 3 days, then 20 mg for 3 days, then 10 mg for 3 days, then discontinue; ibuprofen 600 mg, take 1 tablet with meals t.i.d.; Colace p.r.n.
