some folks only have X amount of energy and after it is spent for the day they have nothing left to give. you will know when you find the right thing for you. Red Cross has lots of volunteer opportunities, some you can do from home.

I'm in the same boat. I want to volunteer but dread taking the first step. I am thinking of volunteering at my granddaughter's grade school or at the local Salvation Army. Has anyone done volunteering such as this?
Volunteering as MT to help with Katrina
Does anyone know where I can go to volunteer as a MT to help in the Katrina clean up?  The Red Cross has no idea!!!
How many of you do volunteer work? I am considering volunteering..sm
to help in an outreach store where donated items are dispensed to those in need and while I really want to be of service, I keep dragging my feet and putting off making that call.  I don't know if it is just because I am afraid to step out of my comfort zone or what, but so far all I have done is think about it and don't get any further.  I am so blessed and really feel the need to give back whatever I can, but I still have not made that call. What is wrong with me?

Just do it. I've had to cut back my volunteering because I can't say NO
and then I get stressed out. I was the public relations rep for city-based volunteer organization, member of two other groups, PTA member, and helped do a kidney transplant fundraiser. I finished out my terms with all of them, although somebody renewed one of my memberships for me that I quit. You need to volunteer to do something YOU are passionate about. Don't let someone else pressure you into something, which it sounds like this is your choice, so GO FOR IT!!!
