In Reply to: What response do you get when you tell people you're an MT? - Are the reactions you get like the ones I get?

Being that we are in such a litiginous society - I then say - "I am to a doctor what a court reporter is to a lawyer".  Everybody's been to court....:)  At least they can picture it.  If I start explaining digital dictation, working at home, rerecording,  medical terminology, etc., etc., they get lost again.

Next question - my daughter, son, sister, husband, etc., is unemployed, how can they get a job at home like you?"

1.  Have a grasp on the English language.

2.  Be able to type.

3.  Maybe take a couple of Med. Terminology Classes.

4.   Possibly know how to use a computer.

etc.etc, etc.

Oh, I don't want to spend any money.....or

She/he/they already have a degree in Educational Psychology, social work, Political Science, Dietitics, etc.   (well, they need to go get a Masters degree and get out of your pocket)
