I am job hunting and an account that is available is using beyond text platform.  Can anyone tell me what this is before I get in to deep.

I'm not familiar with them. sm
If you have a resume out, you may be contacted by companies, that is legitimate. Just be careful, there are companies that offer you a position if you "buy" their equipment or software, etc. Always check that out. Some companies rent you the computer for a reasonable fee, but other than that you shouldn't have to buy much from a company to work for them.

Why don't you put a note on the Company board, see if anyone there is familiar with them?
You must not be familiar with 1look.com SM

If you enter a word to be searched, 1look gives you ALL the dictionaries that word appears in. It will say "this word appears in 2 medical dictionaries" and list Dorland and Stedman, and you can click on either.

Then if it has an English meaning as well, it will say "This word appears in 8 English dictionaries" and will list clickable links for it.

If you misspell a word, it will give you a choice of looking up all similarly spelled words.

It also has a thing to click on for the pronunciation, to be heard through your speakers.

It's all I ever use.

It doesn't sound familiar and
I don't see it in my Stedman's ENT book.

Sorry.
Do you use a platform..
or are you working in word? Abacus is great for making invoices.
I don't know; my platform does
all that stuff on the back-end so I just leave it.  Never heard that the documents went through as gray, and I changed the color in the beginning of this year.  Hope it helps.
It is their platform.

It is a platform. It can be a very good one
depending on the account.
Instant Text
I use this and it is great and you can add to it also. It is worth checking out
Platform question
I am about to begin work with a new company and I am not quite sure what the platform is because we haven't gone over that yet, but I am just wondering if all platforms run with Microsoft Word.  I just got the Stedman's SmartType and I am gonna be bummed if I can't use it.  But generally, do most platforms use MS word?
Text expander

I currently use IT text Expander from my course at MT at home.  Is there a better text expander that I should be using?

also referred to as canned text (sp??)
These are physical exams, review of systems, certain operative reports, etc., that are dictated over and over by a doctor and can be called into a new report with only slight editing required. They boost your line count a lot if you get lucky enough to transcribe for a doctor who consistently says the same thing over and over.
EMDAT is a transcription platform
You will receive, edit and/or transcribe your reports in that system. You will also need a foot pedal that works with it that costs about $90-100.00 from Start-Stop (it has to be wired for that platform). You may be able to get it elsewhere for less. I hope that is helpful
Text Expanders and counters

Does anyone know where I can get a free word Expander and a word/line counter?  I was using FastFox and TextTally, but I didn't realize it was only free trials.  I may have to go ahead and buy them though.  I just don't have a lot of money to spend on them right now, and I can't keep entering in my information over and over again.  Thanks for all the help

Grammar Text Book
Hey sm, just looked for that book on Amazon and there are quite a few different Little Brown Handbooks, could you tell me the ISBN#, author and edition? Thanks.
using a text expander helped me drastically.
Also, this may seem really obvious, but if you're using MS Word, use the AutoCorrect feature to auto correct any errors you commonly make.  I actually use the AutoCorrect feature as my text Expander as well.
Shorthand versus Instant text
Looking for a great word Expander to work with. I am clueless at this point as to what is out there and how they even work. I have had ShortHand and Instant Text suggested to me, but not sure which one will be better.

Thanks for your help.
First of all, there are so many variables...work type, formatting, platform, etc. SM
It is possible to make that kind of money, but I would not expect that for a long, long time. Making money depends macros, focus, work type, pay for lph, not having to look things up (for me its drugs), stuff like that, but most of all be persistent. I have never made $40,000, but I know people who do.
