Just Finished!

I just finished my MT program at my school. I'm currently looking for work, but everything I'm finding says you must have experience. I don't feel 100% comfortable with my new skills either and I'm pretty convinced an internship would be the way to go for me. I have no clue where to start looking or who would offer internships. Does anyone offer them working from home? please respond or email me with any help you can give me!

Thank you

Newbie, just finished school.
Hi everyone. I just finished my Medical Terminology/Transcription course for Allied Business Schools, Inc. I was wondering if anybody else took their course? If so, did they successfully help you find a job? I am needing to start work at home ASAP. My daughter was born with special needs and I can't put her in a daycare.

Thank you for any responses!
Brand New. Just finished school.
Hello. I am prematurely frustrated, I'm sure! I haven't been out to scout for jobs. But, from what I have read on the internet, getting a Medical Transcription service up and running from your home is nearly impossible?!?! Everyone wants someone with "EXPERIENCE" only. I just paid alot of money to train for this, so I certainly don't want to have to pay some company to get me a job. I surely don't want the education I have recieved to go to waste either. Working from home is my ONLY option right now. A few years down the road I can go into an office or hospital. But, I don't want to wait a few years! It's a little scary right now for me. I hate the thought of wasting the money and the time I put into this. Any suggestions? Thoughts? THANKS! LISA
Did you not have anything left to learn when you finished

school and actually started working in the real world?  It is a learning process, day in and day out, just as nursing is.  You can go to the best school in the world, have the most highly trained instructors, finish with flying colors, take the RMT, CMT or whatever, and still not be a good transcriptionist.  Same thing goes with nursing.  You can go to school and then pass state boards and still be a lousy nurse.  A lot of what we all do is in the practical application day to day.  I don't recall ever saying she shouldn't go to school.  I just said it was possible to go from nursing to MT without formal training.

started school at 25 wpm, finished at 75 wpm
It takes a lot of practice but it is definately doable. I have been transcribing for 12 years and am well over 120 wpm. I haven't done a typing test in awhile to give you an exact number, but it is definately possible. I agree with the poster who said make sure you are in a credible school, it makes all the difference in the world!
