New MTs, keep looking up!

As a new MT, a recent graduate(January), and a woman who was lucky enough to land a mentor from this very site, I just want to share some words of hope for those of you still looking for work.

Keep a positive attitude, and keep looking. As long as you don't give up, something will come your way.

I, like so many other new grads, looked around for a job before I had even graduated. I unfortunently did not attend one of the 'Big 3' and upon searching this site felt my heart sink lower into my chest when I realized how hated my school was.

I felt sure that I would never find a position. Employers would start looking at my school and writing me off and I can tell you it was very, very disheartening.

Then, one day, I came home to find that someone from this very site liked my 'attitude' enough to want to help me out! I've been working with them for nearly 3 months now, and can tell you that hands on experience beats my school training by a million years. I am a thousand times more confident, and completely mortified everytime I make a mistake.

And I make mistakes everyday because I am still learning. This person is nice enough to not fire me everytime I ask a question or make a ridiculous mistake (like not running my spell checker, imagine my mortified face when he pointed that out).

Sadly, it is not full-time, but it is better than no-time. So I want to remind you all to keep looking, be positive and trust me, something will come along eventually.

I still search this board, and others, regularly everyday for opprotunities. I also am taking a CNA course so that I can have that 'in' with the hospital when a position opens up in the transcription department. If you really want it, work for it.

Happy days!
